When I was a little boy in the mid seventies, my mum, my brother and myself, were walking along the canal path that went right through the wharf building on the west bank of the canal at Brentford. Some men were unloading bags of coffee beans and one of them gave my mum a bag full. I still have the small white fabric bag that those beans came in.
lived in and around Brentford my whole life (my mum's family were bargees) ,I was born in 66, we must be around the same age. I didn't want this film to end.
Live in Brentford now and love it. This is great to see the history
Great old film with some rare views of my beloved Brentford and its canal.
Just came across this, found it really fascinating as I live on a Dutch barge moored in Brentford. Really interesting to see how the canals were used and what was transported on them. 👋👍
I was brought up in Brentford. I'm 52. Went to Green dragon school. Went fishing there. Grand Union canal.
Lovely! Brentford looks rather different now but the canal has been rejuvenated it appears
Wonder who the 2 little boys were sitting on top of the boat ,used to play football with the boys off the boats when they stopped at great Linford on the grand Union canal, they used to be coal boats
Lovely
Where did the video titled "inland waterways" go? This particular video is fun but I'd love to be able to watch Inland Waterways as well. Thanks. Paul in America.
