I left Canberra since 2009 where its been my home for 15 years.. I still miss it so much and because of COVID19 pandemic I cant go back to visit now but your clip is the next best thing. Thanks for putting it up. Great drone and video!
I left Canberra at about the same time! Lived there for 12 years. I miss the countryside feeling. Damn shame they’ve by houses all the way out to the cotter now
Thank you for showing the world my beautiful city! Canberra is my home. One of the best places to live and raise a family. It is changing so much in recent years.😍👍❤
Thank you Zaid - all of what you said was good information. Loved your country as I drove the perimeter and a few backroads :) I stayed on the other side of the lake there in the capitol after arriving late evening, so to wake up and see all of this while eating brunch was very cool
As a Melbournian currently in lockdown, this will be my first road trip location after restrictions lift. I've been around the world, but not 7 hours north to visit my own country's capital. 😆
I am confident you will enjoy your capitol and the. beautiful drive to get there. May I suggest an alternate route home? I also jumped in to the world before seeing more of the small towns in the US so this has been my current mission - enjoy 😎
I would take the normal route through Albury for the Mountains and return along the southern coast while enjoying Nadgee State Forest and all the animals/birds.
That round about is ARTWORK ...and I hope the city planners keep in mind that the nature must be left intact ...like never build onto the mountains ...that’s a natural MONUMENT
Looks like a place Id gladly live on haha! I only went to Perth last time and love it! Maybe Ill visit Canberra if opportunity arises. Thanks for this video!
Thank you Nina - I hope you have the opportunity to visit 😎 I also have a Perth video on this channel along with many others if you want to relive a memory.
Nice flight. I used to work very close to where you landed, so a familiar area. I wouldn't be game to fly around there with all the buildings and interference blocking the signal!
Thank you😎 The good thing is I walk while I fly so I almost circled that building. Happy you found my travel channel with over 1,000 videos from around the world.
@@JamesBeBop Ahh, well that explains it as I thought there was no way you could fly down towards the lake with the Tax office in the way! Walking up to the corner during the flight would have been required. Cheers,
lived there from 1997 to 2002, saw plenty of development after I left, the night life I hear was better when I was there, now the center of town looks like a never ending westfields, not sure where its starts or ends but it took over the whole city, preferred my time there, more smaller buisness dominating the landscape and less megacorp at the center of town
Sounds like where I live. While growth is needed for additional population it is at the expense of simple and nostalgic. Happy you found my travel channel 😎
Lived there from 1959 till 1994, it has grown hugely, I wonder if Walter Burly Griffin would be be happy, the defunct NCDC changed a lot of the original plan, some for better or worse ,it was a great place to be able to grow up in, I no longer recognise a lot of it
Thanks a lot. Just read Bumerang from Bengt Danielsson about his traveling Australia in late 50's. Interesting history about founding the Capital... Now i can see Canberra today. Good job.
Happy you enjoyed this city, country, video. Australia takes some time to drive if you do the entire perimeter; however, for me it was worth every kilometer :)
Ivo, I also have enjoyed your beautiful country twice while driving. Here is my last trip to your beautiful city, ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=_RW1Q9sCNiU&ar=1576425051076 . I like to go to Kraków for chocolate and staying in Prague gives me the best of what Europe cities could look like if they were not bombed. Wish I could have recorded safely at Wenceslas Square and the other side of the river. You can find photo's from my first trip on www.JGlowacki.com . Enjoy my friend :)
Looks very beautiful but at the same time very dull. Where is the liveliness? The heart of city looks like a big car focused nightmare with big roads and parking lots. It might be a protected area but it has so much potential.
I will let locals answer this. Please remember I fly in non peak times and was their Christmas holiday! Happy you found my travel channel with over 1,100 videos from around the world😎
Ever since I came back to my country, I missed Australia and Canberra, it feels like I was born there. One day, I’ll get a scholarship and then I’ll back to Australia?
Thank you James. We now have a magnificent international airport so hopefully more overseas visitors will come here. (We actually have a direct flight from Canberra to Singapore but you need to divert through Sydney on the way back.) My fellow Australians often make fun of Canberra but when they come here they often change their tune. I have an Airbnb in the iconic Nishi building (centre screen at 4.21) and one of the most common comments I get, is surprise about how interesting and beautiful our national capital is. I get frequent requests for an extended stay, once guests have been here a couple of days and have found lots of things they don't have time to do! Canberra is our bush capital, set separately in the Australian Capital Territory within country New South Wales. I call it 'the greatest city in the country'.
Great to read Michele. I had both my flights to Australia and New Zealand be direct from Houston; however, like you found, both had a stop on the way home. Stopping in Fiji was good when I extended it to 14 hours layover. Happy to read about the new airport. I did enjoy the area and I tried to show others how beautiful it is. Enjoy your summer 💕

But that’s only a perception you get from seeing it from a birds eye view. When you actually experience Canberra in person it’s very different. Very serene. Four full seasons. A city that merges seamlessly with the great Australian bushland. It feels like you’re on the edge of a vast wilderness, yet it’s home to a very progressive, urban and fast growing youthful population. The city is still finding itself and I think it’s a great metaphor for Australia. I love Canberra!
Most beautiful city in Australia and a place full of culture and nature. Plenty of style here- I swapped Melbourne for Canberra and would never return.
Such a beautiful city so full of natural habitat. Lived there for about 4 years. Still my favourite city in Australia!

I'm moving there after corona lockdown is removed and wondering if there are any job opportunities in advertising and tv commercial industry?
Cool - hopefully someone will answer locally about job possibilities :)
Fantastic! Just finished binge-watching "Secret City" so I really want to learn more about Canberra. This is a great start.
Truly a beautiful capitol :)
Where abouts are you from?
San Antonio, Texas :)
Most peaceful capital cities I ever seen! Would love to move there.
