I played a guy just like this who does back cuts all game long and is being rewarded but what I did was select " shrink the floor" option on defense and my A.I team mates just lock down the paint completely.
They just be trying to cheese with their starting lineup and they’ll most likely spam all their timeouts at some point to cheese for some energy. 2K be letting some get away with it sometimes too depending on the team. It’s lame. Using different lineups is part of the fun.
