the dress looks amazing but it's still a good idea to zig zag/stretch sew the seams, even if you don't need stretch in that direction for it to look or fit right. cause at some stage you're going to tug on a seam when you're taking it on or off and when your fabric stretches but your seam doesn't, the thread can't handle the stress and will snap.
I actually love this dress! I hope I can figure out how to adjust the pattern to my size - still a beginner! But I assume it’s just making sure all the waist pieces fit your waist, and bust pieces fit the bust etc?
yes I'm pretty sure! Just adjust it to YOU make it a little bigger and if it is to big synch it in and if not you know you need to use the slightly bigger measurements
Great work as always Ms Ally. I want to make a plaid, pleated skirt, so I done a RUclips search and your video from August 21, 2020 was one of the top results. Thanks for the help.
i might sound stupid by asking this, how would I adjust the pieces of the patterns? i would adore to make this but I'm having difficulty adjusting it to make it fit
I love this dress so much! I really want to make it but I’m still a beginner and it’s hard for me to get all the angles and curves and cut outs right when cutting the fabric. Do you think you could make a pattern for this dress? I would really appreciate it! ☺️
Oh boy, I am currently making that dress and at the point where I am ready to cut it all up again 🥲😢 I am a beginner and would say do something with a pattern available 🥲
Idk if you will see comments from an almost year old video lol but I tried recreating this dress and the only snag I ran into was the elastic on the sleeves! I bought the exact thread you used and it seemed you only had it underneath on the bobbin? Or is that where I went wrong? My sleeve didn’t seem near as stretchy as yours looked. I’d love to hear any advice you have!
Hand drafting patterns is something that takes practice and trial and error, but the first thing you need to know are your own measurements. For a partial explanation on adjusting Ally's pattern here, let's look at the waist of the dress front. She has three pieces total with the center piece larger than the sides. 6" wide across the narrowest point of the waist for the front and 5" across for the sides. Added together, that's 16" for the front half of her waist, including the seam allowance (SA.) If each SA is 0.5", one inch of each panel will be subtracted in the final waist measurements of the sewn garment leaving a final front waist 13" across. As an example, if your waist was 36" and you wanted the front half of the completed dress to be 18" with 0.5" SAs, the waist of your three pieces would need to be 21" total. The center panel could be 9" and the sides could be 6" or the center could be 8" and the sides could be 6.5". You'd need your measurements and to do the math for the the other dimensions, and make some aesthetic decisions about where you want the seams to hit your bust to determine their width, but I hope this explanation helps!
The small pieces attached to the neckline are facing pieces. They serve to finish the raw hemline and act as a partial lining to the dress. Folding the raw edge of the neckline to hem it like she did with the skirt hem would have likely added bulk and messed up the contour and fit of the dress.

I learned that the hard way! 😅😅
Yep, definitely ripped a seam that way ladt week! Thank god its an easy fix!
Is anyone dying over her hair! I’m so jealous!!!
no because I literally thought about making a dress exactly like this for christmas.

From what I found

Hi, Would love to buy your pattern, are you still planning on putting it on your website?
What kind of fabric material u used?
What fabric did you use?
I’m new to sewing stretchy fabrics, do you need to use a different size needle?
I know you need a ballpoint needle, but I'm not sure about the sizes
New Video!!!!!!!
i love this dress! but how do i know the measurements of the single pieces since i’m not the same size as you? thanks to anyone who’ll answer

Name of sleeve and neck line???
Every time I make something, it’s always too small TOT
دعمها يكسر الخاطر 😢😢😢
But is it simple enough even asten could make it?🤔😘
i dont wear black either buuuut i think every girl needs a little black dress ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
pattern?
I’m still confused on what those small pieces are meant to do
The small pieces attached to the neckline are facing pieces. They serve to finish the raw hemline and act as a partial lining to the dress. Folding the raw edge of the neckline to hem it like she did with the skirt hem would have likely added bulk and messed up the contour and fit of the dress.
Ôi quá đẹp
This dress, other than the sleeves, looks identical to a concept sketch I drew.
Please would u speak slowly slowly in english only
You have yo explain slow pace!!!
Im sorry but tou go too FAST!!!
Bad ,bad,bad, too fast!!!
you can just slow down the speed of the video or pause it lol relax
