Very cool I would not have thought of this as a fix lol. But for 25 bucks, this will save me some cash down the line! Cheers.

Hi Charlie. Love your energy! I have a broken string in my led xmas net lights. I have cut out the affected bulb like you did in this video but i have 4 wires not 2. How can i fix it and not burn something 😅!

Hey there, Ginger. Thanks for the kind words! First, are you positive you have 4 wires? Many times folks can confuse the guide wire as being an electrical wire. The guidewire should be coated in the same plastic coating as the electrical wire but is only there to provide the net with their stability to look like a net. Some net lights will have the guide wire enter the socket and some will simply attach to the outside of the socket. Which style do you have?

You forgot to remind folks to unplug the strand before cutting or heating. 😁Thanks for the video, Charlie.

You are most welcome, Albert 👍 Fixing lights takes less time than driving to the store and spending the money that you can give to Starbucks instead!

Middle section of white LED lights out, all bulbs good, what is the green plastic piece that also can be found among the lights. Had the wire running through it. Can this be the problem and what purpose does this serve? Thanks!

Yes, that is the dreaded rectifier. When that goes bad the whole string instantly becomes replacement bulbs. This is only found on LED lights and never on incandescent lights. This can occur for a few reasons but the most common reasons are overheating, corrosion in a bulb socket, and voltage fluctuations. With that said, this Monday at 2 pm (CST) John Descomo, the maker of the LED Keeper and the inventor of pre-lit Christmas trees, will be on my show in a live interview. I invite you to tune in and ask him your question live. I'm certain he'll have an answer for you!

Great video. I have a different issue that I can’t find a solution to. I have a pre lit led tree with 2 separate sections of lights that are on but very dim. I have swapped all the bulbs and fuses but still have a dim portion on the tree. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Arrrgggg. Well, sweetness, unless something has changed recently in the tech, pre-lit trees are not fixable. BUT...I will give you this bit of hope. Next Monday at 2pm (CST) I have a guest coming on the show, John Decosmo, from Ulta-Lit (The maker of the LED Keeper). He is an expert in fixing all things Christmas lights. I will read your question off to him during the livestream. So, come back on Monday and see what answer he gives you! He actually started the pre-lit tree era and is an expert!

Can I replace a christmas light plug? I noticed while looking at the fuse that fuse connector is loose and the power from there isn't working. HELP.

Silly question here but a hair dryer wouldn’t get hot enough would it ? (Asking bc I don’t have a heat gun)

Hey there, Blue. Unfortunately not, no. The average hair dryer heats up to between 80 -100 degrees the heat gun will get over 1000 within moments. Hair dryers jus aren't hot enough.
