  • Band: The Privateer
    Album: Monolith
    Genre: Heavy Folk Metal
Lyrical themes: Pirates and seas and of course drinks
    Country : Germany
Under the commonly hoisted flag, the crew of "The Privateer" sails the waters of sunny southwest Germany.
Inspired by classical Heavy Metal, as well as modern Death- and a bit of Power metal, doused with a barrel of rum and a pinch of sea salt, they have created their own characteristic sound.
Influences from Folk Metal are particularly highlighted by the use of the violin.
The varied vocals which alternate between clean vocal, screams and choruses give their sound a special note.
With their songs they tell stories of hidden treasures, distant worlds, old nautical lore, and the myths of the sea.

    Lyrics:
    Driven by conclusiveness,
a wreck emerges from the far.
    It's burning red and danced
    around by flames and will
take our foes to where we are.
Ember sea, we grab for the horizon
and put the tyrants to the torch.
And only the ashes on the water
will be a token of what went forth.
The sounding howls of our last
stand will echo for decades from
    every wave. The mourning friends
    might meet us soon again,
in the spoken legends of the brave.
Ember sea, we grab for the horizon
and put the tyrants to the torch.
And only the ashes on the water
will be a token of what went forth.

Yea absolutely. Also it is folk metal which is a popular subgenre of metal. I don't get how they don't have more views.
