Remember that by this point these actors were almost completely unknown. Imagine what it must’ve felt like for them to see themselves interacting with these legendary characters for the first time on film.

Both have had steady work and are probably going to be well off financially for the rest of their lives; sure no Academy Awards or several franchises that they will be known for, but they should be grateful for being able to get roles period. And my God, are you forgetting that Mark Hamill has been the voice of the Joker in the Batman animated series for a long time? If anything, this is just a second bite of the apple for them.

+DewPixle MC Actually no, for this movie they had lightsabers that glowed on set, believe it or not. This made it way more realistic as the lightsabers' glow shined on both the snow and their faces as they fought. They did some editing, but that was only for enhancing the glow and the "light radiation". If you want I can send you some pictures taken from the set :)

*John Boyega:* The way he reacted that way to see himself wielding a lightsaber against Kylo Ren was pretty cool. I'd react the same way if I played a learner going up against a Sith.
*Daisy Ridley:* She got the role of a lifetime and is the luckiest person to ever get a lead role in a Star Wars film, and she really pulled it off. And the way she reacts, seeing the trailer for the first time makes the reaction all the more real. I also like the way she felt when she saw herself in the start of the trailer. I mean, she could not believe how well the movie and trailer she's in was put together. And so did the audience.

This was a great time, we still had hope for great Starwars movies
I still stand by the fact that The Force Awakens was truly a great film. It brought back so many feelings of the Original Trilogy and truly lived up to the fans expectations both new and old. It felt like a revitalization of the franchise after not having a true sequel to the Original/Prequel Trilogy since 2005. I still remember the hype around this film and the absolute joy of seeing those opening title crawl along with seeing Harrison Ford back as Han. It was a dream come true. It set up so many cool concepts such as Snoke, Kylo’s Knights, Husk, etc. I cannot believe how they screwed up so badly with the next two films. To me the Star Wars films really died after Episode 7. I’m glad content like the Mandalorian is restoring faith in the franchise, but it seems like Disney is screwing up again with The Book of Boba Fett and Season 3 of Mando.

Like it's a catchphrase or something. And the only time be wields a lightsaber, is when he gets paralyzed only to be repaired like it has no consequence.

Rey, the person, still came from nothing and rose to her Jedi status on her own merit. Her connection to Palpatine further illustrates (though more clumsily than Rian Johnson's writing did) the point of her story: It doesn't matter where you come from. Everybody has the capacity for heroism and everybody, absolutely everybody, can choose the right path.
'None of her decisions feel thought out' doesn't make much sense to me. Which decisions are you referencing? Her connection to Kylo Ren sees her equate her own sense of being misunderstood and ignored with his self-pity. He let his lead him down dark paths at every chance and she decides to try to save him from that. This is just one example that seems perfectly well thought out.
Characters survive all sorts of life-threatening injuries in Star Wars. Dismemberments being an obvious one. Darth Maul was bisected, for Pete's sake. And yet fans keep clamoring for more of him without ridicule.
Finn's sensitivity to the Force was a subtle subplot, but it definitely existed. He was hardly relegated to only shouting Rey's name. Hell, he carried a whole third of _The Last Jedi_ and many salty fans are still angry about it. If you feel Rey's victories are unearned, why would Finn deserve to be a roaring success with a lightsaber on his first go? They both had experience in combat, and both had a hand in defeating a gravely wounded Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base.
John Boyega's reaction really depicts how we all felt something that we all have grown with getting a new saga. We are probably not ever gonna be hyped more about something that hard. Yet, they failed to satisfy us and John at the end. I am just grateful that I had been able to feel it.
By far the best reaction video on the internet. Boyega's excitement watching this still makes me tear up out of happiness and the movie's been out for a year.
I'm so happy for John Boyega & Daisy Ridley, they deserve it. These new Star Wars STARS will change the franchise and take it into the next generation. As a BIG FAN of Star Wars since 1977, I wish them the best and LET THE FORCE BE WITH THEM.

'cause not even the actors knew what they were going to show in the trailer so the surprise of seeing himself about to go in on kylo is probably to shocking and amazing, because yes he did know it was gonna happen but when he was doing it there was nothing more but sticks let alone him knowing that it would be one of the first pieces anyone would get to see of the movie
Actors' reaction are 100% legit.. they may know how the story goes but all they can see is green/blue background as they try their best to relay the feelings of the characters through their movements.. Its until post prod. where the editing is finished and the effects are realized. The trailer was spot on and still gives me goosebumps

Watching this nearly 6 years later... and man... it makes me so emotional. To see the absolute genuine excitement these two show to be a part of something they thought was going to be truly generation defining and amazing... makes me a little sad to think the general downward spiral it took and wasted potential. A part of me got sooo excited just watching the trailer again and wished we had a giant Do-over :( But with that being said... I think the two of them should be proud of their work and the job they did with what they were given... I wish I still felt that same excitement they showed

How nostalgic to see this video! (at least it provokes me) Then seeing these actors, to whom I am very fond, who at the time were not very well known, so happy for their debut and for interacting with legendary characters of cinema is very beautiful and exciting! These actors (Daisy, John) and this trilogy, even with the cons that many have encountered but that I overtake since these films have found me positive feelings and emotion, it will be a good time that I will always remember! Lastly, in order not to be saddened by the thought that a saga and that this triology has ended, there is a saying that says "Don't be sad because it's over, but be happy because it happened". May the force be with you🌟

Some people are saying that they are faking their reactions and that they already know what it looks like because they acted in it. But they only say their lines in front of a green screen. They don't know what it will look like.

+DeRp Meister If you watch the end credits, there were actually teams for all these locations. Barely any greenscreens were used.
+Infinite_Gateways, they don't know what it looks like because it feels completely different after editing, sound effects, and music are added, not to mention their perspective is completely different. To be a viewer is not the same as being in front of the camera.
John Boyega's reaction at the end was so priceless. And Daisy! These actors definitely deserve the opportunity they have with Star Wars. They're so genuine and kindhearted and PASSIONATE! You can see it in their actions AHH I LOVE THEM!!

I always get emotional and cry happy tears when I watch this trailer as I never got to watch it at the theatre, I always refused to see any bits before the movie screening so that I could get overwhelmed by the whole thing on release day!!! No regrets at all but it's hard to stop yourself from watching it !!!

As a star wars nerd I can only dream of who amazing it's got to be to be the one who gets to hold the Skywalker lightsaber in the official trailer to kick off a new trilogy. It doesn't matter who good or bad those movies were. Just that moment has to make it all worth it.

there was no more, that, as far as i'm aware was all they filmed i think. they were showing the same clip in jimmy fallons talk show but uncut and it only lasted a few seconds
