Despite the losses which is always sad, your garden is looking beautiful, I love seeing the drone images it looked stunning from the air. I have failed with my rhododendron I think inadequate water and not deep holes thanks to the soil type.
Love seeing your garden Elizabeth, sad to lose established plants because of harsh weather. Our daughter had just started growing her first veggie garden and has suffered 4 hail storms in the last 3 weeks here on the north coast, huge losses and damage but gradually some things such as zucchini are coming back, she will keep trying and I love to see young people growing their own food. We share seeds and learn from each other.
Sorry to hear of your garden losses due to the frosts. Our plants bring us much joy, so it is very sad when we lose some. Your cream rhododendron is gorgeous! Hope your herb garden takes off well.
The garden and flowers still look great, very enviouse. Thanks for finally letting me know that my flowers in my garden that I never knew are called chineese lanterns, I cut them back every couple of years close to the ground and they seem to spring back very well in the shade in sandy soil so I would think that you could leave them and they will still probably come back to their former glory.
I don't know where you people live, but we came down for a holiday in October, and as we were driving through the forests, the amount of damage to the trees was astounding. You certainly did get very strong winds in Tassie.
We can’t control the weather. All we can do is try to work around it. In Vic we had strong winds in September which blew off all the plum blossoms off our two trees . It,s now November and no plums on either. 😢
My monsteras were looking untouched for the first winter ever and i figured the leaves had just got hardier and then bang pretty sure there all dead.. bananas didnt seem to care at all tho so must have been dry

So informative as always to our cool climate woes. Seems Elizabeth tried to take your spotlight John! Both of you are amazing.
