I remember that in my childhood, whenever I used to visit Pakistan to with family, I could hear it on every Friday after the Jumma prayer. I wanted to sing it as well so I asked my mother and she helped me in memorizing the words (kalam) and finally I also joined the congregation, I would barely reach the waist of the men so my father would lift me up to sing it on the mic or imam sahab would give me one of the mics to sing along.

I remember a homeless gent singing this naat everyday, his voice poured in through the windows of the old house and I also remember looking forward to this guy and the melody which rang out and put me in a state of trance. 40 years later and we have a properly produced, studio treated rendition of this number, that takes me back a long way. I remember that in my childhood, whenever I used to visit Pakistan to with family, I could hear it on every Friday after the Jumma prayer. I wanted to sing it as well so I asked my mother and she helped me in memorizing the words (kalam) and finally I also joined the congregation, I would barely reach the waist of the men so my father would lift me up to sing it on the mic or imam sahab would give me one of the mics to sing along.

I remember a homeless gent singing this naat everyday, his voice poured in through the windows of the old house and I also remember looking forward to this guy and the melody which rang out and put me in a state of trance. 40 years later and we have a properly produced, studio treated rendition of this number, that takes me back a long way. A time that is no more, just like how I won't be there in a few and the naat will continue to mesmerize and reach straight for the heart.
