The "Legato Run Build Long" program is a great articulation to start playing with. If you want a disco sound you could mess around with pentatonic ideas that are doubled an octave up. You could play them in lots of genres, though. I listened to some popular disco classics and tried to listen to what the strings were doing. Use the runs, falls, or portamento legato as some inspiration.
