Yeah: "When she didn't come back, Ozpin seemed as much in the dark as myself and your father." Whatever that mission was, none of them knew about it. I don't think they even knew Raven was involved, so it wouldn't occur to them to ask her.
It does explain how Raven found out that Salem couldn't be killed, and why she turned away from Ozpin. Although not why she didn't tell her brother about it... Unless perhaps she feels guilty about something that happened.
Fun note to ponder. Ruby asked Somewhat, "What are you?" Not, "Who are you?" When only a few episodes prior, she was actively getting annoyed by that question. Just goes to show how much better of a head space she's in already.
Are we not gonna talk about the fact that Somewhat has a cape reminiscent of Ruby's. Ruby had such an impact on Little that Little chose to ascend into something more like her.

The message of this episode is a very endearing one ("You don't need to be anyone else except yourself") Fight scene was really cool, especially for Ruby, and it was a fitting end for our resident ice cream girl. Hopefully, this won't be the last we see of these crazy kids.
Ehh the message is a little meh. Ruby could have come to that conclusion without the whole ascension thing, which was clearly framed as suicide so that's already not good. One they never really address their mistakes and kinda just brush them under after Ruby returns. The whole ascension thing also felt unneeded if the message was just be yourself. It also felt lack luster considering ya know an actual deep conversation between RWBY was completely ignored because Ruby just was isolated

So CRWBY has said that, because the Cat was killed by Neo's illusions of the Jabberwocker and not the genuine article, they will go to the tree and Ascend. My question then is, if Neo actually did slay the real Jabberwocker back in chapter 3 or whatever it was, does it get to Ascend too?
Yes, but if the cycle had been interrupted and they were actually killed, you would expect that the miniature would have shattered or something. They were otherwise all showing their current forms.
"Better then I Was" sounds like Raven at least tried to Raise Yang but realized she wasn't suited for it. doesn't excuse her behavior in volume 5 but interesting to think she at least tried

My personal favorite for me this season is the curious cat, better saying his voice actor. He performed at such a high level the entire season but in this episode, he took the hat completely. How he laughs while smoking the leaves, while transforming, before attacking Ruby, it is just wild, he stole the show for me :D Just Purrfect

Something about the Jabberwalker's creation somehow reminds me of Volume 6. When the god of light said, 'This is not creation.' and the god of darkness snapped at his brother to not lecture him about what creation is. And I'm surprised that the god of darkness refused to punish their creations for the mistakes that the brothers made. I also liked how when they were born, they first started as a baby deer and a baby goat before growing up into dragons as time went on
This whole episode honestly was like one big hit of dopamine for me (considering how the season was for Ruby), not only did they beat the Cat in a BADASS way, but Ruby gave her depression the boot, Joan got his youth back, Little/Somewhat is back (I literally want to cry tears of happiness🥹), and everyone heard their call for help from the last volume (I’m guessing we’ll see Glynda and the other teachers). And kudos to you two for getting mentioned in the end credits.❤ Maybe you unintentionally made a change too!😉

I don’t think Neo is returning. She is losing all her memories of Remnant, and hence her bonds to pass through the tree. Even if she picks herself, I doubt she’ll pick RWBY as her new bond. On the bright side, I’m sure she’ll join Somewhat. After all, the Hare and Doormouse aren’t complete without the Hatter.

Especially since CRWBY loves to have characters follow their Easter egg conventions, meaning Neo (the Hatter) would most likely join forces with Juniper (the Hare) and Somewhat (the Mouse). If you went with “well, Neo would bond with Somewhat, Somewhat has a bond with Ruby, and if Somewhat goes through the door Neo can follow him,” that would be hundreds of times more believable than Neo returning on her own.
I'm expecting the series not to have much left. I think they've been sent to the final battle stages of the plot, when humanity is making its last stand in Vacuo. I think there'll be three more volumes, two for the final battle stuff and an epilogue. I also expect the other characters like Ren or Nora to be older Also looking forward to Neo returning. I think she'll show up during the darkest hour with an army of nostalgia or something
Oh oh oh. Yang did say that Ravens semblance allows her to bond to certain people and create portals to them. Has one for Tai, Yang, and Qrow. It’s safe to say that Raven and Summer portalled to Qrow. Which means Qrow knows more too and has kept it secret. Unless Raven has a 4th attachment to someone else that no one else knows about.

What I love most about the fight is that yes, the cat is strong and can handle WBY+J, but as soon as Ruby enters the fray it's not just a morale boost; she is faster and quicker to evade the cat's attacks, and it requires the cat's full attention to just barely keep up. That, however, leaves them(the cat) open to the others to land their hits, and the moment they shifts their attention back to WBY, they are fully vulnerable to Ruby's quick attacks.

I appreciate the implication that the cat was doing just fine until it mingled with the first humans to appear on remnant. Afterins dont have the ability to lie on their own but humans do. Alex brought falsehoods into the ever after and the cat among others, such as the red king and possibly the jinxy peddler were affected by it. The idea that afterins and humans evolve in completely different ways mean that when they mingle and interact, the impact can lead to any wonderius possibilities.

I’ll admit that I watched the first Two Volumes of RWBY years ago but I was put off by the low budget animation. I decided to give it another go and I really got into it. After finishing Volume 9 I am really anticipating Volume 10. I wonder why they’re taking so long to green light it?
What we know about the previous Spring Maiden: - Leo and Qrow said that she was in Mistral about 10 years ago. They were trying to help her learn how to handle her abilities. Then she ran away due to the pressure and they had no idea where she went. - Then Raven tells Yang: "She was scared when we found her. Weak. No matter how much training I put her through she never learned. She wasn't cut out for this world and with those powers she would have been hunted her entire life. What I did-" "Wasn't personal." "It was mercy!" So I don't think Summer was the previous Spring Maiden. I'm excited to see if Raven is really gonna be in Vacuo though. Because if she is then we may finally get the answer to what really happened to Summer on that mission. Did Salem really turn her into a Hound like Ruby and Yang suspect? Is she just straight up dead? I'm just really looking forward to answers on that.
I think Neo's new purpose will be too find a team like Ruby's. We are totally getting Mercury redemption next volume, then she can join him and Emerald against Cinder

She could but when the illusion Roman said she can take over this place with her stronger semblance and Ruby gone, she didn't want that. So who knows what she wants to be when she eventually finds herself.

@@johanstenfelt1206 I don't think the "who did it" is as important as a lot of people are making it out to be. Penny sacrificed herself and died. That's what's important. That's what affected Ruby. I don't think Ruby would blame Jaune or be angry with him or anything. I think she'd just be more upset that Penny is gone. And that's what we saw in the show.

My question is, who did Raven portal to? Who is the only person confirmed to be linked to Raven's portals that isn't Summer, Tai or Yang? That's right, Qrow! There's a good chance Qrow also knows what happened to Summer. That could have some serious consequences for his relationship with Ruby.
