I'm sorry to hear that! It's hard to say exactly what went wrong, but when making the cake batter it's important that you beat the eggs (step 1) long enough until they triple in volume, and to make sure you activate the baking soda (by mixing with lemon juice). I hope that next time you get fluffy cake layers that don't sink!
