OMG y’all... for those of you who have an issue with the name Snooze, please read my latest community post. (And because I’m a little salty, maybe I don’t like YOUR name, so maybe you should change it 😉)
Lady, you don't need to justify the name you choose for her. I think the name is adorable, and I've very much enjoyed watching her project, and I'm considering doing the mustang makeover in the future because of your videos. Thank you for your detailed videos of your work with these horses, and I'm going to be an avid watcher in this mares progress.
Let's be real. The people commenting about her name are all 9 year olds with opinions bigger than they are and attitudes because you aren't doing what they tell you to do. Her name should suit her and you know her far better than anyone can from just watching a few videos. 👍
That's a very impressive first walk by traffic, with other horses, into water, on a tree stump, with dogs barking in narrow chutes and pathways! Wow! Good job!
Awesome job with snooze I think the name fits her nicely, I can't wait to see her finished and in competition. And for all the negative comments about snooze send them on over this way. This BIG cherokee has your 6 for sure. Keep up the good work
I love how she's calm and engaged. I think she'd do fine hacking out in English (because I'm biased), or Western. I could see her as a beginner's horse, after she has some miles under her.
Absolutely brilliant! She is much less spooky than my mare that I’ve been riding for the last 23 years in the Uk on trails! What an absolute superstar 😍
She handles everything so well! It doesn't look like she would spook at water at all... I am really enjoying watching her progress and seeing how she deals/processes all the new things you throw at her... GREAT JOB 😁👍
Snooze is an adorable name but I literally never would have thought of it! It fits her and I definitely don’t know any horses by that name. 😂. She’s such a sweet little mare. Love your training methods. I think Bliss would have been a good name too. She’s so calm.
I think you’re doing an awesome job. With all the exposure, traveling, new locations, different surroundings getting her used to everything is great. Just luv her demeanor, how quiet and well adjusted she is. Probably make a great 1st time owner a great companion, English or Western ....
Sherry/Sherri is a great help and I meant to mention in yesterday’s video how great she is at reading your horse’s body language (as you mentioned) - when she was standing in the center of the ring and anticipating both you and Snooze’s next move and today too - great help 👍 Thanks for sharing your journey.
Honestly this is probably my favorite Snooze vid just bc I LOVED watching her head/ears! She's checking things out and taking it in. But, she's sticking with the herd, her focus comes back to you and the horse in front. (At least from these clips her focus seems to return quickly. I don't know about the other 30 odd minutes lol) Every time her head perked up and she kept walking I imagined her saying 'what's that? eh, the herd doesn't mind, we're okay' That made me think she would be an awesome trail horse some day. Maybe not a competition horse bc she's lacking the git up and go...though, with her demeanor and intelligence there's no telling how far this little mare can progress.
She really was thinking and staying focused! I wasn't sure how she was going to do, but she was great! Haha yes the other 30 mins were the same which would have been boring to watch :)
I love how you answered the comment ... you don't teach dressage or any other discipline... People just don't get it.. it's all about the basics which really is the same all round it's what you do after that which lends to different disciplines..... She's so lovely I've enjoyed watching you with her 💕
I've been watching some other mustang makeovers where the trainers are saying, she's pretty calm about that (horse moves sideways, has wild look in eyes), and I can't stop thinking, that's not calm, check out Sam's Snooze, now that's calm!
Kimberly Johnson I'm skipping a conference so I can be on virtual EMM instead. 🤠 You are less than a week away. I may have to sign up for Instagram as that seems to be the closest to real time for updates.
Wonderful! This coming week I should find out about returning to the Therapeutic Riding Center for individual Natural Horsemanship lessons. I enjoy the individual more than the group because I get to try Mustang training on these stacked out horses which is perfect for my inexperience. I excell in confusing the horse for now lol but I'll learn. The scenery along with her/your work was so enjoyable I'd be happy to see the extended version. Have a great evening! Laural
This mare is very nice.....if you can get her moving forward under saddle she might great for trail horse classes or just for pleasures. She does move smooth...will be interesting to watch her mature under saddle. Good quiet sound well trained horses amcan be hard to find!
Love learning by watching your videos. Thank you for explaining things so detailed in your videos. You just gained a longterm subscriber here! Thank you!
she seemed interested in the trail walk and not so lagging...maybe she'd like insurance or competitive trail type things. she s kinda built sturdy for it(I would say ropes body but she's kinda short for that beyond calves and dint seem like the overly sporty type)
Im in Florida. We played with mustangs at horsin around. Inverness. Alicia Delegato had a tip program. Love mustangs. Trying to sell my acre horse home now to get back to that area
You're so close to where I live, no wonder I got the vibes of learning to ride a stable like that! I've been to shows at that town's arena. Also the local parrot flock was a clue. That's OK, I repsect your privacy, and the lockdown.
I want to move just so I can bid on her. She's such a good horse, in the right hands shes gonna be a great family horse or bomb proof. Like you said trail or western pleasure maybe.
@@SamVanFleet I lived right behind where you guys crossed the water...off of Amapola. Beautiful there...just crazy expensive. Keep up the incredible work and God Bless you and the sacred horses you help.🐴💝
If someone doesn't bid on a horse because of they're name, I don't want them to bid on my horse anyways :) I'd much rather know the person bidding on her as well and have them meet her and I first. Please read my latest community post if you have any issues with her name
I disagree. It wouldn't benefit Snooze being handled & ridden by someone who isn't able to give her clear cues or understand how to communicate with her as she's still going to be somewhat "green" even after all the hours Sam has put into her training. It takes years for many horses (mustangs or otherwise untrained, un-handled equines) to be able to "teach" a novice rider. Maybe someone who knows a bit more about how to support Snooze in continuing her training experience. Just because she's extraordinarily laid back doesn't mean she's suitable for a beginner. I feel that would be a disservice to her in reality.
@@SamVanFleet Wow! Your welcome! Huge fan-girl moment for me! 😊 Thank you, Sam! I've been following along, and really enjoy the watching the instinctual nuances of your method. Great content, and adore your personality!🐴💜
I wish she had a different name! Snooze just doesnt' describe her. She is so calm and yet elegant and serene.. and it's so unusual to see a horse that takes the noises so calmly like she does. She's just so "together" and unphased by things. Wish she had a name that described her better. I bought a horse once named "Chubs" which I hated.. I think it was because he was a little overweight, but it didn't do him justice. I renamed him Jubal.. as sounded kind of like "Chubs" and yet I think just calling him that made him feel better!
Snooze is meant to be a cute name, not boring. I think I know this horse probably better than anyone watching these videos or commenting, which is why I'm the one naming the horse :) I also waited about a month before naming her so I made sure it fit. That's like you telling a mom that she gave her kid an ugly name... bet that makes her feel great!

I’d be nick naming her Snoozie Q all over the place. Snooze is such an adorable name for her.💗 She’s so chill, I love it!

Watch out for camels . emus, and llamas.....The river is fun there. I used to ride there when I lived in Rubideaux.

Any concern that naming her Snooze will turn people off of bidding on her?
Honestly it might, snooze definatley isn't a very... Normal name? Though if she looks good enough they'll take her anyway and simply rename her

Horses don't actually understand human language except for specific words we teach them. I promise you Chubs didn't care at all what his name was.
