I had terrible luck with my male betta in a 10 gallon with cherry shrimp and ember tetras. He killed everything he could corner. I moved him to his own 5 gallon with two nerite snails. My honey gourami, on the other hand, is the nicest fish on earth. He couldn’t care less about the guppies, tetras, and shrimp in my 20 long. He’s much more interested in biting the roots off my floating plants!
I have 5 peacock gudgeons in my community 55 (three females and 2 males) and I'm currently growing out about 15 fry in my 10 gallon shrimp tank. I absolutely love how they look! I plan on adding more back to the 55 when they are big enough.
I had a sparkling gourami in a 10 gallon and it was great! It was the perfect centerpiece fish in terms of personality, but guests were less impressed... it has a subtle, exquisite beauty that doesn't scream "look at me!"
I love peacock gudgeons. I have them in my rainbow fish community. For such tiny little fish compared to boesemani they don’t half stand out. So friendly and present
I only have one tank under 55g, but I sided with Joanna and used a betta as the centerpiece fish in my 14g cube. Tankmates include 6 cherry barbs to add movement, plus a hillstream loach and an unknown number of khuli loaches as the clean-up crew. There's also a Siamese algae eater in there, but that's a short-term situation until he's big enough to NOT be on the menu like his two brothers were. Had I not gone with the betta, I'd likely have gone with the honey gourami.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics ohhh yea. Thank you, by the way, which cory cat do you think is the hardiest one? Preferbly able to go in an unheated but very stable tank.
Best minnow friends? My sister wants a tank for my niece and the main fish she wants is minnows. But idk what goes well with them. I plan on using a 10 gallon tank because I can't see myself taking care of something bigger on my own since I'm not super big into the hobby where I want huge or multiple tanks
Hi guys! I and my family are starting our aquarium journey and have decided on a 10-gallon tank. I also love the peacock gudgeon. If I have just one of these with 5-8 tetras would this be a good combo for that size tank?
In a 75 gallon tank what combinations of blood parrots and geophagus tapajos can I keep. Is it like 1 blood parrot 5 geos or more blood parrots less geos? Also would I be able to grow them all out in there or when they get bigger would they need a bigger tank?
Great video. I saw two great fish I would like for a 10 gal aquarium I’m getting, it’s a half moon. I like the Scarlet Badis and the Honey Gourami. My question is can I mix them and if yes how many of each. If no mixing how many of each different one can I have. Thanks so much.
I just got a 10gal tank and am looking to build it, the tank came with a bristle nose pleko and a (ember?) tetra. I have watched a number of your other videos, I am wanting to put a few shrimp in the the tank. Can I keep shrimp and a beta or are they mutually exclusive?
Good Day , What can you recommend for me as for as black gravel for my 40 breeder. I saw your video on the EBA and you had the black background and gravel that how I'm going to set mine up bc I just love the way the EBA looks awesome. Having a hard time trying to find a decent black gravel. Do you have any recommendations that I may research dor black gravel that isn't too expensive?
I have fairly timid ember tetras in my 15 gallon planted tank. What’s the best centrepiece fish that won’t hide with them and maybe encourage their bravery!?
I a have honey Gourami with neons and harlequins, such a fun tank. I have another 10 with lampeye rasbora and amano and cherry shrimp, could a put a sparkling Gourami with that group? Thanks guys! 😊
Hey I want to do large 80-70%water changes for my fancy goldfish(ryukin and oranda)...however my tap water GH is 1-2,so I use AQUA ONE GOLDFISH Conditioning salts to fix it..however when I follow their reccomended dosage i noticed my gh is only ard 4-5DGH(FOUND THIS OUT AFTER TESTING 14HRS LATER) which I think is low for fancy goldfish...I want to know what DGH level u reccomend for fancy goldfish and what gh level is too low...and weather i should follow the reccomended dosage or not?Thankyou ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey Prime Time! Just wanted to tell you that the honey gourami footage you showed is actually a red thick lipped gourami which get a little bit bigger and a little more aggressive. I honestly would NOT recommend them for a 10g. But the true honey gourami, the ones that come in the yellow/gold/wild color morphs are overall great for a 10gallon.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics what a relief! I always see people mistaking them for actual honey gouramis and shops labeling them as honey gouramis. 1 thing I always tell people is to look at the tale, if the tale is white or pale then it’s a thick lip, if the tail color matches the color of the body then it’s a honey gourami.
I have a 90 ltr tank with ember tetras and 4 scarlet badis. The male looked amazing but i think he just wore himself out fighting for territory... so sad he was amazing 😢 my females are going strong but not sure about adding another male to the mix
My tinfoil barbs 2 of them did not make it the other day. They seemed to be doing great day before also have 9 tigers barbs in same tank do you think the got nipped ?
Honey Gouramis are great but for me they’re a bit small to be a centrepiece fish and their generally slow cruising doesn’t draw attention. A centrepiece fish should be at least bigger than a molly imo.
Yes for Scarlet Badis...It's interesting watching them hunt. Real tiny predators. No betas or gourami's for me. Betas are the poodles of the fish world.
Sorry but... Betta and peacefull in one sentence seems rather... wrong to me. Bettas are carnivors and they will not stop eating your shrimp and snails and even young fish. You may have luck and get a super peacefull specimen but thats the exception. Bettas are predatory fish and they will attack and destroy other fish, snails and shrimp, if they feel like it.
Definitely a personality thing! I had a betta that would sit on the sand in front of sinking food and just watch all the shrimp and snails eat it without doing anything to them! I guess he was their supervisor? Another one of mine would only attack shrimp and small fish if she was very hungry. The one I have now never wants to stop eating, luckily I don’t have any shrimp in that tank. But she fights for the bloodworms with the honeycomb catfish.
@@richardmccullum9604 Ive kept over 100 bettas in my life time and had enough friends who kept their bettas with a variety of community fish. One female betta ate a whole endler guppy male, destroyed and killed/ate every ramshorn snail she could find... there are also very peacefull bettas yes but not every betta is the same and if there is the chance of the betta, which is as i said a carnivore, then dont do it or go the super save route with the tankmates.

I was successful keeping a betta with ember tetras + snail for a few years but I had to fast the animals for a few days and the betta decided to eat one of the tetras. I had to separate them because the tetras would just hide from the betta after that. So animal care may be complicated. It works but it's a very delicate balance.

The blood parrots can be a little too active for them, but the tapajos in a 75 gallon would work.

They can be really susceptible to low oxygen. Anything that could temporarily lower O2 can have a huge impact on them - disease, water flow, etc.

how much space do you leave in between the tanks of the 10 gallon rack?
