You CAN adopt children with disabilities but be sure you're doing it out of a true desire to have a child. Not "save" a child. Adoption is way more complex than just having a soft spot!
Love this video! Are there are other programs in the country where they have a specific classroom for children who are deaf blind? Or is this unique to Perkins??
Hello...i m from asia...i want to established school for poor blind people....can u help me in this way plz...there are a lot of blind children..whose donot jave school for learning so they have no future or life
Deafblindness is a spectrum. Very rarely is someone 100% deaf and 100% blind. Visual media for low-sighted individuals can be adapted in many ways to make them more accessible. Using high-contrast materials, for one.
It can be a spectrum like autism is a spectrum. The child can be totally blind and can hear a little bit where they can be fully deaf and have low vision.
Look at all those smiles from staff and students alike, what a tremendous atmosphere to learn and grow in.
brought to tears. i wish i could adopt a child with a disability. i have such a soft spot for children with disabilities.

Thanks God
but when you are deafblind you can't hear nor see, how do they learn visual media
Many have different degrees of deafness and blindness, they might have 50% vision and 100% deafness, for example.
Look up Helen Keller. She was deaf and blind and learned to talk .

I thought Perkins didn't do this with preschoolers anymore... that individuals with deafblindness are mainstreamed for the most part?
School for the blind that relies on visuals...Im confused
Not all the students would be fully blind... partial blindness exists? Sign language is still an important medium of communication.
And there’s tactile sign language even for people with no usable sight.
@@icturner23 I’m learning tactile sign language ( Ptasl ).
U r goddess ❤
