Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one. So true now days more than ever. Thanks to advancements in AI, tasks we used to do manually are getting done faster, giving us more time to pick up new skills and explore other interests.
This is a great video, inspiring for me right now, as I am a generalist and tried different things, however this is challenging sometimes. I hope better times will come for me but currently I am not satisfied with my job, I want to change it and it’s very difficult as recruiters consider I don’t bring expertise in a specific field and my CV lacks credibility. I feel like I have potential and I see benefits in having such a diverse career path but right now I struggle and feel a bit lost. Maybe this video relates more to “building a portfolio” when you are ready to work for your own side hustles and projects, not for others. There are not so many employers willing to give me a chance due to my diverse background. I will keep working and hope for the best. Thank you for the video, it’s still inspiring and insightful:)
Why is the camera trying to make a "frame portfolio" tho?!? 🤣🤣🤣 jk...I do get your point but there is a certain level of privilege which creates this thin line between overworking (to make ends meet or to see a life goal to fruition or just a personality flaw) and navigating comfortably enough in a "career portfolio"! Ngl...burnout is already unserious in workspaces around the world at least from C-suites povs, so its much needed that we highlight the privileges, vulnerability and work-life balnace expectancy around the career portfolio idea!!! Ofc, just an opinion here...thanks for sharing, love the passion and any further discussions are welcome 💙😏😁
Totally relatable, I’d love to learn more about your thoughts on this, and how one could really thrive in this. For me, I really love Architectural design but I transitioned into product design and more recently product owner/manager role but I love all 3 and I still find myself doing them even till now for returning clients
Ah, a “career portfolio”. A fancy way of saying you’re doing five jobs to stay afloat. Welcome to the club! I’ve been diversifying my “assets” like this for years. We just called it surviving. 😅
Certainly not…choosing to do things (because of your interests) versus having to (if you are in survival) is different. I choose to not have one full time job because I don’t want to fill up my time doing one single thing

Agree, we can do so much more with the assistance of AI, so those who are geared that way (or not) can lean into it even further

I think the future belongs to people who become financially independent and then choose what they want to work on.
For heaven's sake, I actually agree with you this time! 😤
I rate this video, also particularity useful if you want to transition into a role you don't have much experience in.
