Jay, as an older man talking to a younger man. Please never forget the importance of always doing the right thing, and saying what you mean in context and true belief, regardless of consequence. That's not really advisable to do that. You shouldn't buy an expensive piece of equipment because of one reviewer's opinion. If multiple people are saying something is great, then you're that much safer in it being great. How did your purchase of the Doge 7 work out for you? I'm just now considering buying this dac and reading these comments, which are now 3 years old. Thanks.
Great review Jay...i am so happy that "Doge" is getting their well deserved credit...been a user for over 3 years now and started off with the Doge 8 preamp, then the Doge 7 and they are built like tanks and sound excellent to me...infact when i started my speaker auditions (before finalizing on the Legacy Focus SE), i literally hauled the preamp to all the stores / appointments to ensure i listen in using the Doge preamp...it was a good 8 month search, over 12 different speaker brands within a 20K budget and luckily gave me an opportunity to hear the difference with preamps that were almost 500% pricier and this one kicked ass everytime...I have been a fan boy and do believe there is a CULT following for Doge...I have been connecting with Marc from Doge regularly over the years, great service and response time too...Next on my list is their Doge 9 mono blocks...wish you the best brother and thanks for keeping it real 🙏
Just received an Email from Doge saying that their orders received has grown substantially after you and Thomas posted reviews about their products. Good for you all!
I have the Doge 8 preamp. I have had it for probably two years now. I did a head to head with an Audio Research LS27SE (if I remember correctly) preamp that my friend has and it blew the doors off off that preamp. No exaggeration whatsoever. So that let me know right there I had something special. I didn't have the tubes I wanted at that point and it still blew the doors off that ARC preamp. I recently got the Doge 7 DAC in. I am blown away by it. I am currently using Tung Sol 12AX7 tubes in it, but I plan on trying other tubes. As others have described the sound - 3-D, holographic and I would like to add that it has a little bit of grit/grain and SOUL. Love it. Absolutely love it. Certain songs sounded so good that I had to pause the music and walk out of the room in disbelief. I could not believe my speakers were singing like that. The best way I can describe the sound is that it doesn't sound clinical - it sounds extremely natural and you can hear the 'grain' of the instruments (if that makes sense). You "feel" the music. I bought it to upgrade from my NAD M51 DAC. I have the Synergistic Research Orange fuse in the M51. Luckily, the Doge 7 uses the same fuse type (3.15A slo blow), so eventually I will swap the fuse over. This Doge 7 DAC is the real deal. No buyer's remorse whatsoever. Will be selling the M51 very soon. Usually I want to hold on to stuff when I upgrade, but the improvement is so great, I would be doing myself a disservice holding on to the M51.
Hi, do you use the Doge 7 DAC and Doge 8 preamp together? What is the one to chose between these two if you can only have one? am looking for 3d sound holography and musicality (currently owning a great RME ADI2 DAC AKM that both do DAC and pre).
@@maximemignot2530 Yes I do. The DAC does give the 3D sound, but I believe something happened with my tubes. The sound went flat and I am having amplifier (NAD M22v2) problems as well. However, if I had to choose between the preamp and the DAC, it depends. If you are just starting out with building a system, get the Doge 8 first and go with a cheap DAC. If you have a good preamp, the Doge 7 is a good bet. However, with the Doge 7, the tubes are everything. I have tried different tubes and they don't give the 3D sound that the Tung Sol 12AX7 tubes originally had before it went flat. Not sure if this helps, but I have not yet tried new Tung Sol 12AX7 tubes to see if my 3D experience was a fluke. Sorry I couldn't give a better response, but this is my reality at the moment. Also, while my amp was gone for repair (and is off again to be repaired), I connected the DAC directly to my receiver in the CD input (Pioneer SC-79) and the sound was beyond better than anything else I've connected. Once again, not sure if any of this helps, but this is where I am until I can get a new amp and fresh (and hopefully higher quality) Tung Sol 12AX7 tubes.
@@TheTruth27536 Thank you for this detailed answer and the advise! Did you contact Doge to know more about what happened to your presentation? It seems that your tubes were less than a year old, so it looks a bit odd. What amp did you sent for repair? Did you tried better tubes for the Doge 8 as it seems it is sensitive to good tubes as well.
The lead designer at Doge used to be chief engineer at Jolida. I have a 12 year old hybrid integrated from Jolida and recognize several similarities. First, the remote is nearly the same. Second, the spring loaded dampers on the tubes. It seems that this component, and maybe others, are higher quality than the Jolida products, which, by the way, were also intended to compete with the big boys at a lower price point.
TIPS FOR THE REMOTE BUTTON : you can just open the remote and put electrical tape between the ball and the button inside the remote . I did that with my Jolida integrated amp remote which have the same remote ( I have tested the doge 10 and noticed the remote was the same ) no more looseness in the buttons
It seems clear to me that you eat sleep and dream high end audio. I find that so enjoyable . Also your passion and expertise is very exciting. I agree with Steve that you represent the future of audio. So thanks and keep up the great work.
Jay, one of the most thorough reviews that I have seen. So much important information. Not a bunch of irrelevant information as I see come from some other reviewers.
Sir do i need a Preamp with that DAC? I have Yamaha MX-1 power amp and i was wondering if i need a Preamp.I've got NAD 1155 preamp, but i anted to connect Doge 7 directly to the Power Amp, because i am afraid i will lose that tube magic coming from Doge 7 DAC.NAD 1155 is SS Preamp...Any opinions? Thanks!
Makes you wonder about these other high end companies. I like to say, if you’re rich, there’s a sucker born every day. Thank you Doge for being a true lover of this hobby who likes to share the hobby to the common masses.
The top Doge is about the same price I paid for the Musical Paradise D2 MK3 Deluxe after ESS9038Pro, RCA tube, Mundorf cap, Femto clocks upgrades. I have A/B tested the MP against Holo Audio Spring with Kitsune upgrade, SMSL M400, Denafrips Ares, MHDT Orchid dac's...and the MP is my favorite.
Hi Jay, I think I would disagree with you about the tube shields on the Doge DAC being desirable. According to the folks at Herbie’s Audio, makers of some really effective tube dampers, tube shields hold the heat generated by the tubes and could lead to premature tube failure, a real concern for an expensive NOS upgrade. I own a Doge 8 preamp and removed the tube shields to address the excessive heat issue. My preamp sits on Stillpoints to absorb vibrations.
Wait! There will be another even better one next week, or next month, or next year. Trust me. You can get a much better whatever you are looking for by playing with the sound treatment in your room than spending money on gear.
I will give this DAC a try for sure. I followed your recommendation on the Wilsenton R8 and really enjoy that unit. Thanks for doing the homework for us.
Thanks for your reviews. I have enjoyed the Denafrips Ares II after your review of it. Since the Doge it's within the price range of the Denafrips Pontus, I wonder how you compare these 2, and which would you keep. Thanks!
I have been watching your channel for a little while now. It feels so good to see young faces in this business. I love how passionate you are about audio. I am very passionate about audio too. Love all your videos. I have a Naim. Unitequite 2. With focal radiance heaphones and Abyss diana V2 headphones. I am going to get the Naim atom headphone amp this fall. Also have a. IFI diablo. Thank you for all of your knowledge. Bro. Much. Love and success to you.
I am so happy Doge Dac is finally well reviewed, well done Jay, I’ve had it in my main system for 8 months now. It’s a phenomenal Dac. replacing the Wyred4sound Dac2 DSD SE that was a very good Dac. I also have both the Doge 8 clarity, and the Doge 5 I recommended Doge brand to Thomas as a hidden gem after both of you sold me on the Buchardt S400 earlier this year. I’ll also send you a hidden gem soon. Keep up the great work
I have the WFS dac that you have. I also have a Cary DMS 500. The difference is very clear at the bottom end through the very revealing legacy focus se speakers. The bass notes in the WFS bottoms out and the Cary just keeps going. You may not hear the difference unless your speakers have at least a 12 in driver.
Jay great video. Broad question, which integrated or separate amp(s) did you prefer this "tube" DAC paired with? Solid State like Kinki or other tube integrated/separates?
Maybe because electronics was my 1'st childhood hobby & i'd been messing with all-hand-down old (even back then) hi-fi gear since 8 or 9 yrs-old for bedroom music, (i loved most of my hand-down old vinyl music back then also) did radio recording via 60's ferrographs, telefunkens & grundig reel-tape units, old valve amps, improv' radio -extracted speakers on morphing variations in baffles boards, big valve radio with 'mag-gram' (phone) inputs via an old thorens (still going i hear!) while often doing mods like direct soldered plug-less connections & other mad-stuff (i was a kid) Now, far, very far more than anything else when it comes to potential hi-fi upgrade options or aspirations of possible future upgrade gear as to me, the vids are for either one ...Far more than anything else - apart from a good thoughtful description of the sound quality - is what it looks like inside & with a knowledgeable (enough) technical low-down of the inners, the quality (& ratings of power supply) caps, & actually seeing the care taken in good power supplies & transformer size (esp' in amps) Many vids don't do this & i get wound--up when it's a really interesting product & you don't get to see the in/out sockets let alone under the hood. This achieves that (great product) Excellent vid & just the type i like & want to see. thinking about it now, you don't need a history like mine to want to know the internal matters, they do matter & surely must matter when it's a potential upgrade to anyone into well reproduced music & not just into change of gear to match the curtains & new carpet, Looks come last to me but a good looker is a fine bonus. (this Doge's a beauty too) Worldwide ✌️peace
I've used the Doge preamps for the last 12 years. I AB tested the preamp against a super expensive Boulder preamp and it smoked the Boulder... no competition. The soundstage was bigger, deeper, the music had a sense of heft and transparency. Speed and dynamics are top notch. I've purchased and sold the doge preamp 3 time; upgrading to well known high-end brands like Bel canto,MBL Naim etc. Only to realize the Doge smokes all of these brands within their mid level offerings and perhaps even higher. Treat it like you would a very expensive unit with a good power cord and cables, then go into denial and disbelief. Best kept secret in audio
@@dentistwo unfortunately I do not use headphones at all, so really can't help you there. For the rest, I am very happy with it. The quality of constructions and material is top notch, and the sound (compared to my Cambridge 851N) has a very wide soundstage, lots of warmth and yet good details and a lot of body on the bass.
Really nice review. I was asking, hmm, how does this compare to the Denafrips line? And behold, you got to that (at least partially) at the end of the video. Many thanks for your perspective.
Seriously , I'm totally confused watching this and the Denafrips Pontus review from 4 months ago. They both won DAC of the year? Unfortunately there is no way for the average consumer to audition these side-by-side. The only solid takeaway here, when using these videos as a buying decision between the two is that the Dodge is brighter.... Can we get more? If you had to choose only one which would it be? Would that answer be different depending on the speakers or amp/pre/intergrated being used?
These days all reviews are like " if you want this type of sound signature then this dac is good and if you want that type of sound signature then that dac is good " 😂 they rate all products between 8.7 to 9.2 . Ever wondered why these reviewers review only few unknown brands ?( No benchmark, no chord , no DCS ) because they get the review samples free from those brands 🤣.
@@ufarkingicehole mainstream brands usually don't depend on such reviewers who's reviews are more of subjective kind like " if you want that then this and if you want this then that " .😂
Thanks, your review about this DAC, is so true. I owned this DAC and yes it is exactly to your described. If I have a chance, I would try out Mullard NOS to see how its sound compare to the original. To me the original tubes are very good. I love this DAC.
Doge has excellent products. I have the CD player, DAC and preamp, each of which are outstanding values and each perform at levels far above their price, and their build quality is excellent as well. There are very good new production tubes these days, but for fun I have rolled in some NOS Mullards and Brimars (NOT the reissues), and the sound is even better than stock.
You feel more than "value" when you almost grab yourself. Seriously, thanks for dropping the knowledge on the internals of the DAC. As always, thanks for the great review. Keep up the great work.
Nice Jay, thanks! These guys are clearly killing it. I can only imagine this DAC paired with the Doge 10 tube integrated Thomas reviewed. Wow. I think I see you are reviewing the Doge 8 tube preamp as well. Amazing!
Thanks for the thorough review Jay and highlighting some of the questionable high-end audio practices. For context, the ClarityCap ESA Series cost around $8.00 US per cap so it’s a shame companies like LUA replaced them to save a few dollars.
Very cool review. I like that you looked inside and talked about the design and why they do not skimp on parts quality. You touched on 3 of the 4 aspects of a DAC that drives performance. The missing ingredient is the quality of the clock signal. Hard to tell what they use. I'd guess I see an NDK SDA over by the XMOS chip which is likely on par with the 10k brands you mentioned. The Clarity caps are a reasonable brand. An ambitious tinkerer can likely extract an extra measure of performance by replacing them with any one of several brands. Obbligato Gold would be an upgrade and Duelund or Miflex would take it to another level.
Hello, With what kind of tubes you have ordered the dac? In the Video i mean there is a Doge Logo (Standart tubes Shuguang ?) Or have you the version with upgrade psvane tubes testet Thanks..
Looks good, power supply is meh, caps are nice!. Have you ever reviewed a Musical Paradise MP-D2 or D3 DAC? You can swap coupling caps, DAC chip, tubes, rectifier..worth a look, especially if you like tinkering.
Hi Jay, great video! I know you mentioned the pontus is warmer in the video. Would like to check how the sound stage and musicality compares between doge 7 and denafrips pontus. Thanks!
Thanks Jay, that was an excellent/detailed review. I am 100% starting to save up for this DAC and hopefully, it's a keeper! Hey, anyone remember Eclipse (car audio)? Eclipse made some of the best made (to date) hi-end 12-volt /car audio stereo equipment circa 2000- 2008. Fujitsu Ten was manufacturing electronic components for many others and then eventually established the "Eclipse" audio equipment brand. So many similarities with what you were explaining about Doge.... it brought me back to Eclipse immediately with fond memories :). thanks again for the review(s) Jay.
Jay, thanks for a great review. Visited Doge's website and there are various tube options available for Doge 7. What would be your choice of tubes? I seemed to recall you mentioned stock tubes are good enough?
I am within a few weeks from buying the RME FS DAC because I figure that with infinite refinement characteristics your bound to find the perfect sound. As you describe the Doge 7 I think I should save a bit longer . I have the prima luna integrated 100 and the Focal arias .Given that I like the way you say the Doge 7 handles the higher frequencies do you think it would be a good match?
Jay, I bought a Musical Paradise dac per Thomas's recommendations and I really like it. Would the Doge be a significant improvement? Thank you in advance.
I've been an engineer for over 40 years, modern day FET's out proform old hot Valves/TUBES get your spectrum analyzer out and have a look at the FFT. Remember it's all in the BIAS of the Transistor...
@@MusicLover-01 The answer to your question is a BIG FAT NO. I still love the sound of Valves and the smell of an old Valve brings back so many memories.. It's great to see Amplifiers made the old way. Great Video..
Great review as always. Clarity Caps and Clarity Caps; Be aware their 'top line' is around 10x the price of their 'entry'. These are 'entry+' similar ball park as similar Mundorfs. Still high quality parts though. (super pricey are the light blue or the red ones)
It is already a good thing to find this kind of cap!!! It is already difficult to find this level of cap!!! I kmow really well all caps. Like Jay say you find them in a really expensive staff. If you find a Wima MKS or MKP it's already good 😄
Nice review Jay ! Its nice to see all these high end electronic componetes! Built inside a dac under 2k thats just about insane , those clarity caps got bling ! 😃 Thanks
Hi Jay, Thanks for this nice review. Would you think it will be a great match with the Heaven 11 Billie tube amp ? Or too much tubes...? Or need to upgrade the amp even further ?? Many thanks. Math.
JAY, Thank you for another interesting review. I see what looks like a Denon PMA 110 in your stack. Any chance a review will be coming soon? Would love to have an SX11 but its Japan only and the A110 is apparently the best we can get from Denon in the US.
I was curious about how this might compare to my chord qutest Dac. I like things on the brighter side of warm or neutral and that's what you said the doge is like. I enjoy my chord but always looking around at other gear. Lol I can admit I'm addicted to it. 😁
Hi Jay. I am debating between to pontus 2 and doge 7 for my next dac. Curious about your opinion regarding pairings. I have nx-otica speakers, Quick Silver 8417 (EL34 modded) mono block tube amps, Elekit tu-8500 preamp. All somewhat warm sounding gear (which the otica's need). Should i stick in the warmer sounding category with the pontus (or even spring), or is there any value in going the other way as I have very resolving speakers? My current dac is an arcam fmj d33.
Thanks for this great review and teardown it looks amazing inside. I tried a little Aune T1 tube DAC (USB) with an upgraded tube with my AS1100 and Dali Ikon 6 MK2s. The soundstage imaging is so much better than my arcam irDAC and everything flows with midrange to die for. This I bet only uses the tube as a final buffer stage but it's so nice. I think I will consider the Doge 7, with the Yamaha AS1100 already sounding analogue, with some upgraded speakers (cross shopping concept 500 or Evoke50) think I will have something very big, natural, rich and easy to listen to
“Doge” is not pronounced like the car maker, Dodge, it is pronounced “dohsh”, that is the best I could do for phonetics... Doge was a magistrate of Venice...
Could it possibly be pronounced (by 2 written phonetic syllables but combined into 1-word) as: "Dough... (as in bread dough or Homer's 'Doh' but quietly) & combined with a second syllable ...Ge" (but as spoken in the first short syllabi's of the word for a french cop "Gendarme" so "Dough'ge" (or Doh'ge) but i can imagine that pronounced with slightly more of a quick soft 'shssh' type sound at the very end of the spoken word Doge. I find linguistics interesting & i believe English has the most zany illogical spelling inconsistencies of all the languages, just for 1 e.g. the convoluted spelling of 'Yacht' when it's pronounced as 'Yot' even by kings. i bet that spelling was far too common-like, non-opulent looking & too peasant-simple in the 1'st was dictionary-created era of the (necessarily) über-wealthy Yacht owners, everyone else had sailing boats, rigs, etc. Thanks, i was bored, & Good luck. P.P.S. Wasn't that Doge (Dough'dgshh?) electronically stunning inside with a equally stunning exterior, i kinda want one but 2 days ago, one of my 15" m/gold tannoys started making farty-bass magnet-rubbing sounds😭 it's gutted me because my spare celestion boxes sound muffled & boxy in comparison = 😭X1000
Hi Jay, can you tell us what input you used to audition with ? Doge recommend the AES input but my streamer does not have this so I had to use USB, I found that the when I ran the Doge on Optical in the sound was spectacular and holographic and bettered the SMSL 400 but when I ran them both on USB the Doge was more mid fi and sounded harsh and the SMSL 400 easily bettered it. The trouble is that USB is the widely used input because you get all sample rates covered up to double DSD and 384Khz PCM and I have a number of recordings at these rates. I did not buy the Doge because of its apparent issues on USB, and I am using a very good streamer with an accurate and clean USB out ( the Melco N1 ) which sounds perfect on both my SMSL 400 and my Auralic Vega.
@@jonathanmatthew5631 I presume you were asking me ? No I have not tried the Pontus but would have liked to hear it but from what I could glean from reviews I would have opted for the Venus over the Pontus.
Hi Jay, any answer on the input you were using ? It is important to know the input and I think you should mention this in all of your reviews of DACs as it will affect the sound
my question is, how do we know whether the everyday clients are also getting the same quality of the product as the reviewers? We heard it from time to time that some companies specifically offer the top notch products to the reviewers for reviewing, but use lower grade materials afterwards.
Now the question is: with the 25% tariff the USA charges will a product suddenly costing 3.5K be as good as say one of the two lower Lampizator models (Baltic 4 or Amber 4)? Or maybe I should just leave well alone with my Mytek Brooklyn DAC+..... ?
Hello Jay, would it be a good idea to use this DAC with a tube amp? I already have a Denafrips Ares II with a line magnetic tube amp. I was wondering if the result would be the same since I am using tubes in the amp anyway
You can get cheaper tubes, btw, if you’re worried. There are good modern alternatives that sound really good. It totally depends on how long you use your system as far as how long they’ll last. Not everyone spends 4+ hours a day listening to music on their stereo.
I want a dac sounding more warm as i have klispch speakers ,(that I really love) and want something that helps to mitigate just a little bit the high frequencies and maybe push a little bit the medium frequencies ( without sacrifice the bass frequencies of course). Is this DAC a good choice? Or the Pontus?other? I was thinking to buy the lampizator Amber 3 but it is more expensive of course. Any suggestions? I can't test those Dacs before pulling the trigger unfortunately.
This review is a few years old now. I'd be interested as to how you feel about this DAC now? I ask because a tube dac is not that common, especially not at a reasonable price.
Hi Jay, I used Hegel H95 drive BW 705S2. What do you think between Pontus and D7 is best matching to my system. You review Pontus sound warm and D7 sound open. Both great DAC but can should one.
Hi Jay.This DAC looks interesting but how would you compare it to a New Prime Evolution.ím looking to switch up sometime.but would like a little different sound sometimes
The remote for my Black Ice Audio (Jolida) integrated has the same (metal ball) button design in the remote. Makes the same noise, but it works and feels great!
Jay....please....please reach out to Nuprime. You will crap your pants when hearing the $1500 DAC-10. It's no joke. Got one for $800 used. Sounds blissful.
Hi Jay, Thanks for the great review, once again! Could you be please more precise about the headphones this could drive? 300 ohms still ok? Which cans did you try with it?
Es9018, when I asked why prior to ordering one last May, they insisted it’s a more musical chip then both Es9028 & 9038. I understood we spoke the same language, order one, never regretted it
Hi Jay...can someone here please help me; I just purchased the new Vincent hybrid SV-737 integrated amplifier...if you look at a picture of the back, it has a digital optical and coaxial input...should just use the built in DAC or how would I Benefit from getting this external DAC ?
Bought this via your review almost two years back and it’s wonderful. I wonder where this system sits within your top 10, if it’s in that range still 2 years later?
@@Audfile I currently have the Cambridge Cxv V2 coax out into Sondcoz SGD1 into the Wilsenton R8 to maxed out Tekton Lore. I like the system and apparently share Jay's taste. Would love even more clarity. I may just be a nerd.
Hi Jay, I am wondering if you know how they implemented the I/V conversion in this DAC? Also wondering if you are planning a review of the Tekton Perfect SET speakers that I saw you had in your room in an earlier video?

@@maximemignot2530 No I didn't, but that is a good idea. It could very well be the DAC. I am going to email them and get their thoughts.
I've owned this since fall 2019. It's an amazing DAC. It bested my Stereophile A rated DAC.
How’s your experience of headphone result directly from headphone output?
Sir do i need a Preamp with that DAC? I have Yamaha MX-1 power amp and i was wondering if i need a Preamp.I've got NAD 1155 preamp, but i anted to connect Doge 7 directly to the Power Amp, because i am afraid i will lose that tube magic coming from Doge 7 DAC.NAD 1155 is SS Preamp...Any opinions? Thanks!
I would love to have your opinion on this DAC vs Denafrips’ and R2R in general, dear “R2R boy” (quote)

You know you are a true audiophile when you have a favourite brand for capacitors.
Another thing I must buy now, thanks guys....
Thanks!

I am so happy Doge Dac is finally well reviewed, well done Jay, I’ve had it in my main system for 8 months now. It’s a phenomenal Dac. replacing the Wyred4sound Dac2 DSD SE that was a very good Dac. I also have both the Doge 8 clarity, and the Doge 5
I recommended Doge brand to Thomas as a hidden gem after both of you sold me on the Buchardt S400 earlier this year.
Hi, what is the differenre between the w4s dac2 against the Doge 7? If u don mind,tq.
@@myshark67 Hi, a little warmer, softer in the mids, more musical. The w4s is the dac2 SE edition. Also no loss of detail compared to w4s

Jay great video. Broad question, which integrated or separate amp(s) did you prefer this "tube" DAC paired with? Solid State like Kinki or other tube integrated/separates?
Hello Jay .. 2 years later how do you feel about the Doge 7 versus the many new DACs on the market?
Great review Jay, thanks for the early inside scoop on Patreon.
Finally received my Doge 7. It has been a bit of an adventure, but thanks Marc and Mrs Xiao for the transparent and tireless work
Congratulations! How’s the experience with the headphone amp output?
Doge payroll!!!
@@rktrkt-tw8nd that seems like a marketing mistake from more mainstream brands rather than fault of the reviewer
Hi Jay, what gives? I thought you'd already awarded The Best DAC Award 2020 to the Denafrips Pontus R2R DAC??
I came here to ask the same thing
Doge has excellent products. I have the CD player, DAC and preamp, each of which are outstanding values and each perform at levels far above their price, and their build quality is excellent as well. There are very good new production tubes these days, but for fun I have rolled in some NOS Mullards and Brimars (NOT the reissues), and the sound is even better than stock.
Excellent review... your really hitting your stride Jay!!! Keep up the great work...
Merriest of Hollidays to you and your loved ones... PEACE...
Oh god I will be needing a separate table just for the DAC along with my system!! Excellent detailed video!! Keep up the good work :)
Love this vid jay, once again you give us a value for money.
Hello,
With what kind of tubes you have ordered the dac?
In the Video i mean there is a Doge Logo (Standart tubes Shuguang ?)
Or have you the version with upgrade psvane tubes testet
Thanks..
what are best speakers and integrated amp to pair with this?
I wonder if a MP-D2 MK3, fully upgraded (DAC Module, Caps, USB Board, rectifier, etc) would be able to compete with the Doge?
Looks good, power supply is meh, caps are nice!. Have you ever reviewed a Musical Paradise MP-D2 or D3 DAC? You can swap coupling caps, DAC chip, tubes, rectifier..worth a look, especially if you like tinkering.
Hi Jay, great video! I know you mentioned the pontus is warmer in the video. Would like to check how the sound stage and musicality compares between doge 7 and denafrips pontus. Thanks!
Also shooting between these two. Appreciated for your advise Jay.

Just bought mine. Thanks for the useful review Jay. Also on the waiting list for the doge 10. Excited, we'll see.
Just placed a order. Now just the painful waiting is ahead ;)
Great review! Also appreciate the advance word on the Doge 7 on Patreon.
How does this dac holds on to todays r2r dacs?
Very interesting.
Have you ever heard a Musical Paradise MP-D2?
Yes, I am looking at the Musical Paradise dac as well. How's the sound ?
This one looks to be of much higher quality out in terms of build quality and sound quality

Hi Jay,
Thanks for this nice review.

What about the line magnetic lm-32 dac (tube dac)?.
Great video! I'd love to hear how this compares to the MP-D2 MK3 which is another tube DAC that I think provides great value.
This is an excellent, complete review.
How does this compare with Denafrips Terminator ?
my question is, how do we know whether the everyday clients are also getting the same quality of the product as the reviewers? We heard it from time to time that some companies specifically offer the top notch products to the reviewers for reviewing, but use lower grade materials afterwards.
That’s also my concern
Much DAC! Very wow 🐶

How long (number of hours) do the stock tubes last roughly? Can I get them from Doge, and how much? Thanks for the review.
They are supposed to last 10,000 + hours. So 4-5 years.
You can get the full set of 8 from Doge for about $200 I believe
Is there any tube microphonics? Clock stability is important to minimize Digital Jitter.
Hi. Love this unit. How do I connect my iphone, is there a Bluetooth input or do I need to buy a streamer with Bluetooth, if so, which one
What brand of tube used on your review? Is it the default tubes shipped or the upgraded psvane tubes.
This review is a few years old now. I'd be interested as to how you feel about this DAC now? I ask because a tube dac is not that common, especially not at a reasonable price.
Which streamer did you use? Doge does not offer an MQA streamer and I find it difficult to compare this dac to others given the streamer’s nuances.
