This is an easy and sometimes crowded hike. Also there is another longer hike from the same parking area called Buzzards Roost Trail. It goes up the woods on the other side of the highway to a viewpoint out over the ocean. Nice wildflowers in the spring.

Thanks for showing this walk. I have made four visits to the area but only once been able to drive the Big Sur route due to road closures. It interesting to see the falls which I think were closed when I finally did make the drive south. I have subscribed hoping to see more of your hikes that may well inspire future trips. Have a great day from the UK.

Hi there - is this trail still fully walkable since recent storms?

hi again :) the newer east side of the trail with the staircase is closed but the original/longer west side of the trail (valley view trail) will still lead you to the falls. p.s. watch out for mud!

Do you think the ascent is doable for a newly 4 year old? He's a fairly good hiker but doesn't like really steep trails.
