What always baffles me the most on these animal hoards is why the neighbors did not contact the city for this due to the smell alone. I have smelled a cat hoarded house-and you could start to smell it at the other end of the block. . Within 500 feet of the property it is overwhelming and getting closer than that takes an effort of will and have your eyes watering from the sheer amount of ammonia in the urine that has soaked everything. I can't imagine those neighbors having to live with that smell for years on end (and oh yea, from the state of that, that had to been at least 3 years) and not one of them bothered to call the city. Not to mention the neighbors would have to really hate cats to not be concerned enough for their welfare to make the call.
I worked in the same town as an infamous cat hoard. 196 cats found alive in the house. From what I recall the neighbors HAD complained, numerous times, but as the lady didn’t actually live there and was well connected it took an act of vandalism to get the police out and then AC

But they were all taken care of and nothing was messy (most were outside) but he took the initiative to vaccinate all of them keep up on them and fix all of them. The hoarder one absolutely not. He had the balls to come in yesterday and ask if he could adopt back some kittens we took him. He has panleukopenia running rampid on his property which is cat parvo. @ethanplays319 You are not to blame for your trauma and mental disorders, but healing is 100% your responsibility. She could have the worst mental and physical conditions possible and this still would not be acceptable. This is coming from someone with crippling C-PTSD, OCD (not the cleaning kind), GAD, MDD, and a disassociative disorder, and I still would never excuse this. I've gone through periods that last months where I was barely alive, anorexic and lost 15 pounds, my bedroom was a mess, I was a mess, and every single day was complete and utter psychosis hell. Out of that I experienced years of barely being able to care for myself. When you adopt an animal, you are responsible for their care and safety, and there are no excuses for this. Just because a mental disorder can explain why someone did something in the first place, it doesn't mean they shouldn't face consequences. This person shouldn't be allowed to own or care for any more animals, and that's not an extreme take

Hoarding really is a sickness, it requires help before it gets so bad that the person passed away due to the bad state their house is in. And in this case two of their cats passed because they were probably stuck underneath some of the items and couldn’t be found. It’s really depressing how people who hoard usually don’t get help until it gets so bad

Great job to all the workers! Each person must have a very strong stomach. The smell would be overpowering. It is easy to judge a person but we don't know the full story. Cases like this are not always so black and white. They’re shades of grey, dark shades tho. I’m sure this woman wanted to love those cats and give them the best life, but the reality is that her actions and inaction led to the cats neglect and deaths. We can be both proud of her for finally seeking help and horrified at what happened. She still needs support but she should never own another cat. If she loves them, she can volunteer at a shelter but never be allowed to take another one home
People who are too quick to pass judgement often don't know all the details of the other person's situation and since they don't have sufficient evidence they're in no position to judge.

If she gets extremely upset and lashes out at you, know that you didn't do anything wrong and it's most likely she has something mental health related going on. If she breaks down and cries, support her. All of this is easier said than done of course, but for the sake of her kids, it's best for you to talk to her (privately ofc)
Only wearing shorts and a t-shirt while cleaning that mess is wild.
At one point in my life I had 15 cats and you could eat off my floors! How do people live like this is beyond my imagination. God Bless you guys for your dedicated work!❤
Currently have 12 cats and 5 dogs. It is a fuzzy mess some days, but it is NOTHING like this
We have 5 cats(foster fails) and have had more in the past (fosters) and I couldn’t imagine walking past a turd on my floor I didn’t pick up immediately or odor in my house.
Mental illness is absolutely real 😢
people like that have a severe mental disorder, and she can't comprehend any of it, thats why on those hoarder shows they have theropists working with them are made to be involved in the process rather then have a company clean it
NOBODY I repeat nobody is going to eat off your floor knowing you have 15 cats
Omg I'm an animal lover and those poor fur babies died probably to not being fed. Cat feces urine oh dear lord. My heart breaks for the owner but you wanna live like that don't do that to your animals. Ugh . Severe anger for the way those cats were treated. 20 to 30 cats, come on now. That's severe neglect. Ppl should be charged with animal cruelty
Thank you cleanup crew for all of your hard work. You are so appreciated
Yes they should be charged with animal cruelty to the furthest extent !
@@deby7821 You got that right. !!!

@@retrospekt2794 with no disrespect intended are you really saying that a person has 20 to 30 cats and they don't realize not feeding them, getting them their shots Etc is right?? I completely understand mental illness but come on now, they can get help but in an institution while the charge of animal NEGLECT is on their record. That's like saying if they had a child and they starve them, don't take them to the Drs is ok because they are mentally ill ?? You know we would be standing up for the rights of the child as they don't have a voice, just like those poor neglected fur babies. We have to be their voice as well. exactly! I have 9 of them its so much work Ive been begging my bf for those kitty robot litter box! cants are so sensitive people dont realize this. I work at a humane society and we just pulled opur 200th cat from a hoarding property and its so much worse (they are all ferals) We had a man who got really sick who had 70 cats! I have lost so many fosters this year from his property and its been so heart breaking. they suffer horrible deaths. Hes lucky I wasnt at work yesterday because Id probably have no job. I couldn't even sit through this. Seeing those poor cats made me cry and made my stomach turn. I don't care what this person was going though, they should never be able to touch, see or ever look at a cat again. To the people saying mental health is an excuse is, it isn't. This is absolutely horrific and despicable human behavior.
Nobody would ever do this on purpose, and mental counseling is the way to go. Mental health is more than just feeling sad. I struggle with mental health as well, and I would kill not to live like this. Nowhere to this extent, of course, but nobody does this on purpose. She seems like she was so bad that she was unable to move. It's not black and white.
This person shouldn't be allowed to own or care for any more animals, and that's not an extreme take
@@flamingfoxx I'm not arguing that this should go without any repercussions I'm just saying that everyone is different and things can have different reasons that explain things 👍

I was actually surprised with the bathtub and toilet. They weren’t nearly as bad as I thought they would be
One of my mom's cats had a health problem, and before we found out what it was, she would have accidents in various places around the house. We got them as clean as we could without totally ripping out the carpets, but even now years later I can still catch a whiff here and there. Can't imagine what that was like on this scale.
Those poor cats! How long did the lady live like this with the cats it’s so heart breaking the conditions they were both surviving in 😢
Bless y'all for all the hard work y'all did on this place. I would've puked everywhere smelling all the pee and poop!!
Thanks! No matter what the job, we've got it covered.
This is in readable. As someone who owns cats, if you dont change the cat litter it starts to smell really bad. And that’s only in about a week with 2 cats. I couldn’t imagine the smell even with masks, the owner of the house probably got numb to it. Bit as all the other commenters say, the absolute professional way which the cleaner regards the clearly very mentally ill woman is incredible. To these people do such important jobs which i personally couldn’t ever imagine doing, major hats off to you. Thanks for doing this important job so well and respectfully you genuinely are amazing.
I never thought i would fall in love with cats till i adopted a stray's kitten
Its like having a child,i love my baby with all my heart and i cant imagine her in a condition like this.
My heart breaks for these babies
I feel kind of stupid but I reactively looked over at my cat to make sure he wasn't looking when it showed the dead cat like I was going to throw my hands over his eyes or something lmao
Reminds me of the Hoarders episode where they found a mummified cat buried by trash.
and then she didnt even feel any remorse “aw poor kitty😕” is her reaction to supposedly her favorite cat being found like that!? ugh. that episode bothered me.
A lot of times this is a result of "I can help them", and then ends in a disaster. I can almost bet this woman's intentions were meant well, but ended up doing more harm, and damage to these poor animals then good. I hope they get the help, and care they have needed from the start, and the lady gets the help she needs to prevent this hopefully from happening again 🙏
This young man who is talking, should have covered himself, all his body like the other gentleman, in my personal opinion. The bacteria, microbes, and all that infestation that it is in this particular house, is appalling. I worry that you guys might get sick dealing with so much garbage! Please, please, be safe. The biohazard that you guys are exposed to is unbelievable. And THANK YOU for doing such a great job, the job that no one would do. ♥️👍🙏🏻🙌
my biggest concern wouls be zoonotic disease, i doubt thwse cats are up to date on shots
God Bless you guys! We have around 22 cats in our household. I have depression and anxiety, and there are days that I don't feel like cleaning the litter boxes. But, after watching this, I will NEVER skip a day of scooping!
bless your soul for taking care of all of them, I have diagnosed GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and depression and i understand how hard it is to do tasks like that. it's amazing your able to take care of 22 cats!
WELLBUTRIN for depression and anxiety. I've been taking this for months and it has helped me tremendously. Don't make excuses. Get ur shit together because nobody is going to do it for you. Speak to you doctor or therapist and if you don't have one GET one. You would be surprised at how much just talking to someone who is a professional and understands the disease will help. No you are not alone but at the end of the day no one will help you if you won't first help yourself.
@@michaelhardy2813 wellbutrin doesnt work for everyone but good thing its working for you, but it takes people a lot of time to figure out what works and this attitude towards them wont help
@@michaelhardy2813 we can tell you're a great support person 💀 "this medicine worked for me so it's gotta work for a stranger on the Internet I have no clue what they're going through or how bad it is"
@@michaelhardy2813I know this was 5mo back, but you're seriously one of the biggest pieces of sh*t ever. I'm a teenager yet it feels like I'm more educated in mental health than you are for whatever reason?? Not always is it the case where Wellbutrin + dozens of other antidepressants work out for the MILLIONS of mentally-ill patients in this world, as it didn't work for me! And yes, of course everyone needs a doctor + psychologist of some sort but why do you act as if it's easy to get one?? First off, it's usually EXPENSIVE to get a simple evaluation plus the recurring check-ups & different trials of medications. I'm incredibly fortunate to have an insurance plan that covers everything but I know that's not the case for everyone. Hell, my mother needs an evaluation herself but unfortunately it's around $250-700 for one where I live. (Which is a lot, especially when you only have money to barely get by)
You're the one that has gotta get your shit together since you don't take into consideration all of these factors. You're a mistake to mankind who doesn't share empathy, just unnecessary judgment when you can be giving constructive criticism instead.
This house will, unfortunately, be a total rehab in the future. Even with the deep clean, there are just certain smells you can't get rid of without tearing the entire place up.
I am guessing the lady had no family. I can understand a person loving cats or dogs BUT when your home has been overtaken by poop, that is when you need to realise you have a massive problem. Great job to all the workers! Each person must have a very strong stomach. The smell would be overpowering. It is easy to judge a person but we don't know the full story. The lady probably meant well but things got out of hand. Mental health affects people differently. I really hope she gets help. I think permanent care is needed here
Very well said 👏
I am mama to indoor three and outdoor five cats. I had busy life working for Amazon. My cats never left on my mind and make sure my cats care well and clean. I hug cats all and telling cats “I love you” every I went to work. Older people knew have nurse or family help their dog or cat, bird, fish whatever what kind of their loved pets. @@ghostsontrains7629 It never fails to amazed me how can people actually live in house like this.
You can tell it was a beautiful organised house at one point , very sad ❤

Just curious, but besides some of the furniture and appliances, do you leave some of the personal belongings like clothing, cooking ware, etc?

All we know is the owner is sick, but we never knew what kind of sickness. We didn't know if she's physically or mentally (or both) disable.
