This woman was very badly neglecting those cats ! I know 20/30 sound like a lot, but some people manage. I’ve helped a shelter where it was mostly one woman taking care of like 80 cats in a house and closed garden. She was cleaning everyday, it is a lot of work ! But the cats under her care are well cared for (I can’t say healthy because most of her rescues are either chronically ill or extremely old, the ones that nobody wants, you know). Yes, she has help, but she does most of the work on her own (and trips to the vet all the time for neutering, meds,…), and she herself has a physical illness. I can’t find sympathy for the owner of the house in the video because I know she could have done much better, most hoarders that get a place in such a state have around fifty pets, this is sad

@LZal so true! have a multi-cat household too. It’s clean and doesn’t smell. We make sure they have plenty of litter boxes which are cleaned multiple times during the day. Cats are innately clean animals and they want to use a litter box, so when you have a situation where they are consistently going outside of the box, that’s down to human error. I feel bad for this person because she most likely has a severe mental disorder, but it’s 100% possible to have more than one cat and a clean house.

Sadly, I have a friend who lives like this with 4 kids and idk what to do. There's a part of me that wants to tell her she needs to get help and she can't live like that. On the other hand, I dont know if it's my place to tell her and I don't think she would listen and she'll just get defensive about it. Her house is a major health and fire hazard. Just because she's the mom and not you, that doesn't mean that you can't see what's wrong. Remember that! If she's defensive, she's probably aware. I'd recommend a helpline? It's a step towards help, but if she doesn't take it. You might have to get Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services involved. If any of them are in danger due to mental illness, it absolutely is your place to say something. If she won't get help, at least her kids shouldn't have to suffer through an environment like that. I understand it's hard, but sometimes it's necessary

She may have no idea anything's wrong, and many parents refuse to listen to their kids' criticisms, if they're even old enough to give criticisms in the first place. If your friend respects you, she will appreciate the concern. If she gets extremely upset and lashes out at you, know that you didn't do anything wrong and it's most likely she has something mental health related going on. If she breaks down and cries, support her. All of this is easier said than done of course, but for the sake of her kids, it's best for you to talk to her (privately ofc)

What always baffles me the most on these animal hoards is why the neighbors did not contact the city for this due to the smell alone. I have smelled a cat hoarded house-and you could start to smell it at the other end of the block. . Within 500 feet of the property it is overwhelming and getting closer than that takes an effort of will and have your eyes watering from the sheer amount of ammonia in the urine that has soaked everything. I can't imagine those neighbors having to live with that smell for years on end (and oh yea, from the state of that, that had to been at least 3 years) and not one of them bothered to call the city. Not to mention the neighbors would have to really hate cats to not be concerned enough for their welfare to make the call.

Hoarding really is a sickness, it requires help before it gets so bad that the person passed away due to the bad state their house is in. And in this case two of their cats passed because they were probably stuck underneath some of the items and couldn’t be found. It’s really depressing how people who hoard usually don’t get help until it gets so bad

WELLBUTRIN for depression and anxiety. I've been taking this for months and it has helped me tremendously. Don't make excuses. Get ur shit together because nobody is going to do it for you. Speak to you doctor or therapist and if you don't have one GET one. You would be surprised at how much just talking to someone who is a professional and understands the disease will help. No you are not alone but at the end of the day no one will help you if you won't first help yourself.

@@michaelhardy2813I know this was 5mo back, but you're seriously one of the biggest pieces of sh*t ever. I'm a teenager yet it feels like I'm more educated in mental health than you are for whatever reason?? Not always is it the case where Wellbutrin + dozens of other antidepressants work out for the MILLIONS of mentally-ill patients in this world, as it didn't work for me! And yes, of course everyone needs a doctor + psychologist of some sort but why do you act as if it's easy to get one?? First off, it's usually EXPENSIVE to get a simple evaluation plus the recurring check-ups & different trials of medications. I'm incredibly fortunate to have an insurance plan that covers everything but I know that's not the case for everyone. Hell, my mother needs an evaluation herself but unfortunately it's around $250-700 for one where I live. (Which is a lot, especially when you only have money to barely get by)
You're the one that has gotta get your shit together since you don't take into consideration all of these factors. You're a mistake to mankind who doesn't share empathy, just unnecessary judgment when you can be giving constructive criticism instead.

I’m sure this woman wanted to love those cats and give them the best life, but the reality is that her actions and inaction led to the cats neglect and deaths. We can be both proud of her for finally seeking help and horrified at what happened. She still needs support but she should never own another cat.
