4 words: "Buried By The Beatles".
This thing, while big in certain areas, deserved to be bigger nationally.

One Saturday morning I caught a lost oldies show on the radio. This song struck my fancy; so I tried to Google it. I probably saw this Dick Clark version live way back when, but, regardless, I love it! It's a shame the song didn't climb any higher than #61. As they used to say, "Good beat, easy to dance to--I'll give it an 85."

He's saying "Do that Slauson," a dance named after Slauson Avenue in Hollywood.

Tommy James told SiriusXM's Lou Simon that he basically "borrowed" this track to become MONY MONY. Thanks, Lou!

mrob75. Motown artists kept the pulse alive indeed, but American R&R was dead, and so was Teeny Bop. The only American rockgroup that kept on going strong were the Beach Boys. Even they said to have been overwhelmed by the impact The Beatles had on the American music industry.

I enjoyed that. His looks reminded me of Chubby Checker and Fats Domino

Hi iTubeNL...Yes, and no...The Beatles did take the US by storm in 64 but lasted only 6 years. During this same time (long before and after the Beatles) MOTOWN artists (and other acts as well) kept the pulse alive and well in the popular music industry.

Is that Darlene Love in the background, it's got to be along with The Blossoms. That one voice can't be miss.

+luis grant It most certainly is Ms. Love, Fanita James and Gracia Nitzsche on background vocals. The track was recorded at Gold Star Studios in March 1964 with Jack Nitzsche arranging.

Another P.F. Sloan creation. Phil Sloan wrote the following about this song in his autobiography "What's Exactly The Matter With Me?":
I wrote this song when I was sixteen. I had Harry Belafonte in mind, but I never got it to him. There is something happy and gospel-like about this song. It probably came from Freddy taking me to her church in Watts when I was fourteen or so. Round Robin may not have been as good a singer as Chubby Checker was, but he caught your full attention.".

In 1964 the Golden Age of American R&R had clearly ended. Most of the video's on this channel illustrate this. No wonder that year The Beatles took the US by storm.
    Long live NRRArchives1 !

As of 2009 Robin Lloyd owned a Dallas-based manufacturer of
high-end luxury homes, but after that the trail goes cold.

I’ve seen many great artists perform on Dick Clarke’s shows like Jackie Wilson, the killer Jerry Lee Lewis Kowalsky, Bobby Darin, Bobo Brazil, Terry Stanford, Paul Anka and the audience is bored and sleeping. Now this guy comes on and they go crazy!!! Like what gives man? What’s that all about? Like I don’t get it.

Is it just me or does Dick Clark always sound insincere and condescending.
