I like that idea. Characters like Meat and Skarlet could appear earlier than they did, maybe around the time Mileena first appears. They're also experiments after all.
10 seasons. 10 straight victories in Mortal Kombat are what's needed to either legally merge realms,or be safe from merger. Coincidence? I think NOT!!!
as someone who enjoyed the new movie, i agree with your take here. my only issue being the ending gets pretty convoluted. i definitely agree that a tv show is the best way to tell the story tho
The problem is, I still feel like you would need to change some other details here and there in order to make it work. After all, what works for a video game. Doesn't always work on TV. I do enjoy the idea of a multiverse at the end though.
Love the idea of MK being a TV show, and I actually like how you have it set up. I think a lot of the origin stuff can be tightened up a bit to leave some reveals for character growth later on in the seasons, but aside from that this is really interesting. Somebody should pitch this to Warner Bros or HBO.
If only we fans could band together for something like this. A few of us could write the dialogue, we would seek out martial artists inspired by the games for the stunts and maybe the acting as well, assign one designer each for one character's costumes, assign one person each to lead the designing of one type of background, and bring in choreographers for convincing fights. Granted, the fandom is toxic and we'd have reasons to hate each other. If only we fans could do it, NRS would know the army's full strength and we will unleash hell.
I've been thinking about a TV show being the best possible media for MK for a long time now. I think that it's the only right way to do it now, with almost a hundred of playable characters (and even more, if you include unplayable ones). I like your ideas and the desire to keep everything as close to the events of all the games as possible. I have my own ideas for such TV show, although if I were the one to do it I would take more liberties and would often combine storylines from two or more games into one season (season 1 - MK1 with the elements of Mythologies and Special Forces; season 2 - starting from the events of MK2 and then switching to MK3 for the second half of the season; season 3 - MK4 and Deadly Alliance; season 4 - Armageddon and MKX with it's new generation of fighters; season 5 - Deception and some elements of MK11; season 6 - continuing with the leftover elements of Deception and MK11 and finishing the story with FIre God Liu Kang fighting Dark Raiden (or resurrected Shang Tsung), who is slowly becoming the Avatar for the One Being threatening the existence of the whole universe). I've got a more detailed outline, but it's a) way too long for a comment, and b) in Russian and therefore requires translation.
This is roughly what I've been saying (and writing) for a year now. Throwing that out there now. You can come to the premiere/play Raiden in Johnny's in universe adaption.
I would suggest animation instead of live action. Looking at some of DC's current works, a lot of the fight scenes in live action are lackluster or look like a CGI skid mark. Consider the Batman verses Shredder fight scene in Batman vs. TMNT film for a reference on how fights like that should go. As for why the live action fight scenes seem subpar, look no further than Birds of Prey. Characters like Black Canary, Harley Quinn, and Huntress make up for their lack of strength (when compared to Hawkgirl or Bane) through skill and speed. There is an unspoken canon to comic books like DC where "peak human physique" basically means superhuman without the help of some modification to their body. Margot Robbie just seems to be moving too slow when compared to what they can do in animated in animated material. This is what I fear a live action Mortal Kombat would be regardless of the writing or casting. We won't get The Raid by scrunching up our noses, crossing fingers, and wishing on a star, so maybe put money down for an animation team that is eager to create the Mortal Kombat of our dreams.
This could work as an animate show too or a CGI, this doesn't have to be just a live action show. And if this were to actually happen I would freak the fuck out. I've been waiting for netherrealm to get it right maybe they will one day but if not this is my next bet.
If I were to make an adaptation, I would just adapt MK Mythologies: Sub Zero into a movie. I mean, we already have 2 movies about first tournament and one movie about invasion, so there really is no need to repeat those stories. Main advantages of adapting Mythologies would be that it's a smaller story that could work well in movie format, it contains smaller roster of characters and, finally, focus would be put on two most popular characters that majority of people associate with Mortal Kombat (Sub Zero and Scorpion). Only changes that I would make would be: 1. removal of 3 out of 4 temples (because covering each one of them would take too much time), probably either remove elemental gods altogether (except Fujin) or have Sub Zero fight all 4 of them at the same time; 2. would probably cut Kia and Jataaka (because they aren't really that important) to put more focus on Sub Zero's relationship with Sareena; 3. have Shinnok tag along with Sub Zero during his trip through Netherrealm, probably by having him use fake alias or something like that; 4. have a side story focusing on Scorpion's resurrection. In this version, Quan Chi won't be the one who resurrects him, but he will be the one to fuel him with extra rage; 5. final battle would be tag battle between Sub Zero and Sareena on one side and Scorpion and Quan Chi on the other one; 6. the ending with Shinnok would play out pretty much the same way it did in the game, but we will also find out that the reason he didn't interfere during the climactic fight was because he wanted to put Quan Chi, who becomes way too overconfident for Shinnok's liking throughout the movie and whom Shinnok suspects might be plotting against him, in his place, while also wanting to see Sub Zero's full power at display, showing the will to turn him into his servant (as a nod to Noob Saibot); 7. I would also give small cameos to Kuai Liang, Sektor, Cyrax and Smoke, maybe even Drahmin and Moloch. I think that that movie would be at least better than Annihilation.
A new story I'd love to check out would be Shao Khan and his rise to power. His conquest over the many realms he has merged with outworld. The story of him becoming Khan and losing to Lui in the end would be amazing.
I don´t know if this is the best place to say this but, I really like the way you use an existing story and always give such an outstanding adaptation of it, you have been doing it with MK for a really long time and I think it´s great. Have you ever thought about doing your own original story? And with original I mean creating your own characters and settings. If you ever did that then I am sorry but I´d be really interested in what kind of story you would make.
The only problem I see with this is that no shows ever get 10 seasons nowadays, but soft endings at certain points are a good idea to offset that. It sounds like what happened to Futurama except intentionally
Another thing I’d include is the idea that Kabal was the reason Sonya was chasing Kano before Mk 1 in mk special forces Kabal was supposed to be an inside man for the SF after he realised what the black dragon was id have him in a scene giving Sonya Kano’s location and then talking about how he wants to repent for his past actions but doesn’t know how this could be where we establish Stryker by Sonya mentioning she knows someone on the police force after that have him show up in season 2 or 3 and have an episode that establishes him and Stryker as friends so we take him getting burned more seriously after his burn and defeat of shao Kahn have his arc be about rediscovering his self worth and confidence you could do this by him redeeming some of the black dragon members like Kira Kobra and maybe Tremor they wouldn’t be hero’s per say but more vigilantes trying to take down the red dragons eventually you’d have the reunion with Stryker which would be a fan service moment and wherever his story goes from there he’s on the hero’s side
This sounds like a great way to do an MK show; though, in my opinion, I feel like you could do the MKX comic storyline for Season 8 and move up the MKX season up so that it'd be 9th and so on. That way, the Dark Raiden/Revenant season is the 10th and Pseudo-11 would be... well... the 11th...
Gotta say, I love the idea of MKX continuing the Armageddon storyline. Given that we never know who died until the next game, you can kill whoever needs to be dead and keep alive whoever still is to fit MKX. Also, the fact that you dont mention Shinok past the MKX season and Kronica is not even in the picture, makes me think Shinok dies at the end of the season, fixing the plothole of an immortal being sending a doppleganger to battle to avoid death. Brilliant.
"Just two normal guys, Stryker and Kabal?" You mean two normal guys that are legally distinct, but similar to John Cena and Shawn Michaels for some reason.
Am tell you, this franchise NEEDS to be written loyal fans eyes . Not no Hollywood product or a “ liked since it came out “ director . YOU need to write a script and fight for it to be made . Set up a fund me page . Anything fuck Hollywood
Me personally, the tv series isn’t a bad idea, but I’d much prefer big blockbuster films because a television show wouldn’t feel as ambitious. I think you could very much take the OG MK trilogy and use that as a basis for the first 3 movies. Then once you got the first trilogy down pat, you can do another trilogy continuing the story. The fourth film can loosely adapt Deadly Alliance, the fifth movie can adapt MKX, and the sixth movie can be a completely original story to wrap up everything.
So basically do what Batman TAS did with villains in season one: each episode or so was a like mini movie showcasing their rise to their roles. Sounds like the only way to do an MK series.
6:30 i'd save this for 8 and loosely do MK9 as that season, making it's main story about about Edenia going to war with Outworld and Kitana & Kung Lao freeing Liu Kang's soul. that way you're able to spread some of the character death's out over an extra season instead of 2-3 episodes and give Sindel her victory over Shao Kahn over half an episode with a season of build up rather than making it a single moment in an episode. 8:26 i wouldn't even do multiverse, make Kronica an elder god that kills the other and tries to destroy one of the realms to bring back Shinnok. end the season with Raiden becoming an Elder God again and Liu Kang being resurrected as Earth's new fire god and protector.
great concept, the only major thing i would change is that i would have johnnys intro episode be the 4th rather than the 2nd. episode 2 is to early to play around with an alternative filming style (documentary style rather than action). plus it would be good as a lighter episode before the actual plot starts

In my pitch, he would spend the first 10-13 years of his life with his mother, who was a teacher at a school found in the Matokan Reservation, meaning Johnny and Nightwolf (or Grey Cloud ig cause he wouldn't be Nightwolf yet at this point) would be childhood friends, and that link will be what brings Nightwolf into the Defenders of Earthrealm . After Johnny's mother died, his estranged father would get his custody and take him to Hollywood. Johnny being born on Matokan land would also by my in story explanation as to why he's the first one of his family line in centuries that could access his green energy powers.
The4thSnake: Number 1. I would cast myself as Raiden.
Imagine a Mortal Kombat Anime..man
Remember MK Devastation
Me neither
MK9 Stryker was an absolute badass everyone loved.
That means he had to be deleted.
This was very enjoyable and fun to watch and learn from
With the success of invincible this might be a reality.
They would need to hire 4thSnake to make it a reality.
@@legionbeast or have doom eternal devs level of fan engagement.
@@joeligma2556 We REALLY don't want that with the over abundance of vapid morons dominating the scene who claimed how amazing MK11's story is or how "perfect" the 2021 movie was.
@@legionbeast oh shit you right
@@joeligma2556 Yeah, we need someone like 4thSnake who actually understands where MK came from, what made the story and setting and characters so enthralling, instead of shallow "lmao fatality XD" or "My OC is the main character and he has super body armor and can beat goro and he's totally the descendant of Scorpion!"
This is how I've always pictured the perfect MK adaptation to be. Just imagine if they get the right director, cast, and even people who know and actually give a shit about the lore to help and consult with the characters and storytelling and release as a show on HBO Max it could be one of the greatest shows ever and could even become HBO's next big hit like GOT! unless if the studios come in to meddle with the projects like they usually tend to do.
This really needs to happened at some point
The4thSnake is now my favorite RUclipsr
Imagine the potential for a Crossover event with the DC television Universe. That could be a nice little multipart event.
I think if a show is to be made the animation studio that did Castlevania should do it, since they wrapped in season 4
I unironically prefer mortal komedy Raiden over 2021 Raiden.
"You don't _use the front door,_ you can teleport!"
God of useless
Yeah I have to agree: Mortal Kombat really needs to be a TV show.
MK2021 is the worst adaptation
Battle of the Realm: "Hold my Kamidogu"
Honestly, a Mortal Kombat series definitely would have potential to be like dark fantasy shows, like Game of Thrones and the Netflix Castlevania show.
Shame will pretty much never get an MK adaptation like that 😒
How about making a MK anime? It would be cool concept tbh, plus imagine the kharacter designs, the kharacterization, and the settings for it too
You know an MK universe can be stretched out as movies in form of 3 trilogies. One for prequels, One for Side quest, and One for the Main events.
I have imagined the storyline based on previous games n movies.
They should have called 2021 MK, Road to Mortal Kombat.
We should get a Mortal Kombat anime with all the gore in it.
I think that would work considering like how much the internet loves the Invincible animated series and it’s gore
A Mortal Kombat anime series should have been in the making.
Well, it wouldn't be an "anime" if it's made in America. It would be in the anime style, but not be an authentic Japanimation (yes, I stole that from The Simpsons, but it's just too good a joke for me not to).
@@jennifercorbett8640 I mean it could be made by a Japanese studio for some episodes like Korra did
Canon for me!
If I wrote the movie, I’d focus on Sub Zero and Scorpion, and have the jobber characters have some development
I’m not satisfied with Reptile or my favourites from Outworld
I like that idea. Characters like Meat and Skarlet could appear earlier than they did, maybe around the time Mileena first appears. They're also experiments after all.
10 seasons. 10 straight victories in Mortal Kombat are what's needed to either legally merge realms,or be safe from merger. Coincidence? I think NOT!!!
Uh-oh, I've been exposed as one of Shao Kahn's strategists!
as someone who enjoyed the new movie, i agree with your take here. my only issue being the ending gets pretty convoluted. i definitely agree that a tv show is the best way to tell the story tho
I did a Cinematic Universe outline of MK a years ago, this was awesome to watch. You got a real talent for this.
Am I the only one who thinks Mortal Kombat needs a anime adaptation
From the castlevania guys
Hi i love your content ❤!
The problem is, I still feel like you would need to change some other details here and there in order to make it work. After all, what works for a video game. Doesn't always work on TV. I do enjoy the idea of a multiverse at the end though.
Y’know, you’re exactly right. If video games are going to be adapted, they need to be a series, there’s no other way around it
WB is going to consult with Elder Gods about you're idea.
Love the idea of MK being a TV show, and I actually like how you have it set up. I think a lot of the origin stuff can be tightened up a bit to leave some reveals for character growth later on in the seasons, but aside from that this is really interesting. Somebody should pitch this to Warner Bros or HBO.
Give this man a couple of million money and he would fly!
I’d watch the hell out of this show !
4:33 wait... did.. you...

Yoooo shout out to heroes. Season 1 was amazing after it went downhill
Netherealm HIRE THIS MAN

That wouldve been a epic twist
This could work as an animate show too or a CGI, this doesn't have to be just a live action show. And if this were to actually happen I would freak the fuck out. I've been waiting for netherrealm to get it right maybe they will one day but if not this is my next bet.
I’ve been crying out for a proper Mortal Kombat tv series adaptation for what seems like forever!!
''That's the beauty of an adaptation, after all: you can make up for the shortcomings of the source material.''
Words to live by 🗿
If I were to make an adaptation, I would just adapt MK Mythologies: Sub Zero into a movie. Only changes that I would make would be:
1. removal of 3 out of 4 temples (because covering each one of them would take too much time), probably either remove elemental gods altogether (except Fujin) or have Sub Zero fight all 4 of them at the same time;
2. would probably cut Kia and Jataaka (because they aren't really that important) to put more focus on Sub Zero's relationship with Sareena;
3. have Shinnok tag along with Sub Zero during his trip through Netherrealm, probably by having him use fake alias or something like that;
4. have a side story focusing on Scorpion's resurrection. In this version, Quan Chi won't be the one who resurrects him, but he will be the one to fuel him with extra rage;
5. final battle would be tag battle between Sub Zero and Sareena on one side and Scorpion and Quan Chi on the other one;
6. the ending with Shinnok would play out pretty much the same way it did in the game, but we will also find out that the reason he didn't interfere during the climactic fight was because he wanted to put Quan Chi, who becomes way too overconfident for Shinnok's liking throughout the movie and whom Shinnok suspects might be plotting against him, in his place, while also wanting to see Sub Zero's full power at display, showing the will to turn him into his servant (as a nod to Noob Saibot);
If the multiverse episode had a Sonya who shouts "Kombat time!" and then immediately fucking dies, that would make all this worth it.

Wait, that's all Yoshimitsu got? He's like the coolest character though. Besides my main man Kuma.
I dont think Kuma is in any of them.
@@The4thSnake
I guess it would be hard to make Kuma work in a live action movie, but I can't help but feel disappointed by this new knowledge.
@@Wiki1184 Panda was a prominent character in the CGI one so there's no excuse.

SOMEONE, GET THIS MAN A FUCKING BUDGET! This show would honestly be AMAZING
I would watch that, also for I could imagine blaze from his ending being the final boss
WB seriously needs to hire you and make this series a reality, cause you understand Mortal Kombat more then the people currently working on it
So much good ideas in 1 video for an adaptation 👏👏👏 And finally, enough of saying MK 2011's beginning is on the same timeline as MK Armageddon
This sounds like a great way to do an MK show; though, in my opinion, I feel like you could do the MKX comic storyline for Season 8 and move up the MKX season up so that it'd be 9th and so on.
That way, the Dark Raiden/Revenant season is the 10th and Pseudo-11 would be... well... the 11th...
Ngl Mk Khronicles is just Snakes Mk fanfiction Fr
Gotta say, I love the idea of MKX continuing the Armageddon storyline. Given that we never know who died until the next game, you can kill whoever needs to be dead and keep alive whoever still is to fit MKX. Also, the fact that you dont mention Shinok past the MKX season and Kronica is not even in the picture, makes me think Shinok dies at the end of the season, fixing the plothole of an immortal being sending a doppleganger to battle to avoid death. Brilliant.
"Just two normal guys, Stryker and Kabal?"
You mean two normal guys that are legally distinct, but similar to John Cena and Shawn Michaels for some reason.
Mortal kombat: a flash back
Nether realm studios should just hire you as a writer at this point dude
Reminds me of an idea of an MK game that retells a new version of the entire series (That sounds too ambitious isn’t it)
You would cast yourself as Raiden. 🌚
This is really good I wish this would happen
Am tell you, this franchise NEEDS to be written loyal fans eyes . Not no Hollywood product or a “ liked since it came out “ director . YOU need to write a script and fight for it to be made . Set up a fund me page . Anything fuck Hollywood
Was just about to say this! Create a great series where you can flesh out & build up each character
I swear to God dude was just explaining why Mortal Kombat Legacy should be an actual tv show
You should do this same idea for a possible MK12 re-reboot since that's seemingly the direction the next game will go towards!
Thanks for fixing MK!👍
So basically do what Batman TAS did with villains in season one: each episode or so was a like mini movie showcasing their rise to their roles. Sounds like the only way to do an MK series.
This is pretty good.
You had me at "no time travel."
I wish great fortune on you so you can carry out this dream
Really love this idea! :)
