Watching the globe spin gives me a feeling of comfort for some reason… not only does it give me memories, but it also feels like everyone, no matter where they live, is included somehow. You get a view of your home, as well as other players’ homes too, all grouped together as you wait to come together for an exciting race.
Except not everyone gets a view of their home since the globe animation in this video skips over Europe every single time :D
idk why but for me that thing is incredibly scary, including the song (i am dumb i know, in every online game i put a pillow behind me on the coach besides minecraft, i am scared if something happens behind me)

That's what the internet features SHOULD make you feel. It should be a sense of wonder and (hate using this word) inclusion that makes you enjoy just being part of the same world. It should be optimistic. Very few games give off those vibes with their online features.

I still play online to this day. I simply just find it fun and so nostalgic. I don’t even care if I win or lose, I’m just grateful that it still exists. It takes me right back to my childhood. Funky Kong and the Flamerunner will always hold a special place in my heart. ;)
This whole game brings me nostalgia too. I still have this vivid memory of absolutely losing it when I first unlocked Rosalina, since she was some of my favorite female video game characters. I even remember doing nothing but the time trials to be the game developer ghost record times
im usually pretty good at mkw, and play online to this day, but playing on my alt with my old ridiculous combos is so nostalgic, and im so glad the mkw community still exists

Yes. That is dumb now that you have to be pay to play online for a game you already own. Nintendo should do that again. Xbox made that switch too.

I remember playing this game I my childhood home. I played to a lot because it was one of the only games we had. I wasn’t very good at it so my dad would usually be the one playing online. Every race I remember cheering him on. Before the races, this song used to play. This song gives me nostalgia and reminds me of the fun memories I had of this game with my family and brings me back to the times at my old home.

You killed this I wish I was play this game when it was out but I wasn’t born yet but the notes is so magical when it’s slowed it gives me that nostalgic feeling.
I remember I wasn’t too knowledgeable on this thing known as Wi-fi, so I was always left in a state of awe seeing others on youtube play online. A little later I did get to experience it, and my little mind was blown.
The most nostalgic piece of music out there
While studying at Uni I got a cheap second hand wii at a thrift store and jailbroke it, when I booted up MKWii and got to this screen and actually found a match I was about to lose it. So great seeing it work again, brought back so many memories.
Wii and 3DS had bangers for literally the settings on the consoles. Like why does it go so hard

I got my first Wii in 2015 and got rid of it for a ps4, then I got another Wii because the nostalgia was too much. So i didnt even get to play online mkwii, but theres just something about this music, it makes you feel nostalgic. Almost like opening a pathway to a different world, which is what everyone does on Wiimmfi and what everybody DID on Nintendo WFC.

You should look into Wiimfi. A lot of people use it now to play MKWii online.
I got one in 2005, but I somehow lost my MKWii disk sometime after that. Still haven't been able to find it for the longest time... Super nostalgic music though!

Almost sad. I played on the Wii as a kid and played Mario Kart, but never decided to go online until a little after nobody was on anymore. Guess I'll never know what it was like, even though the music reminds me of it somehow. A void full of life.

I'm very impressed by this. I like this version better than the original by a mile. I'm guessing this is how the original composer intended the song to sound, but their boss told them to speed it up.

I have a little story to share.
This music has been part of a very happy moment for me. When I was young, I loved watching a french RUclips Channel called "StartNewSystem", and the guy hosting the channel made few MKWii Events. He made an announcement on Facebook at the time and I asked him in the comments if I could play with him for the Event. He said "that's kinda easy to ask here, but why not!" I bursted in tears when it happened.
Well... He never gave me the room code because little me forgot to ask. I was sad when it happened, but looking back at it, it was kinda funny.
But I think this happened the time MKWii servers went down.

I miss when the internet was made to be futuristic. The wii felt futuristic. To be able to play with people from across the globe was so inconceivably futuristic, and the wii captured that perfectly. It captured, perfectly, the futuristic feeling of being "online", being "connected to the world-wide internet". It pains me that more tech today doesn't capture how amazing that is. The wii will forever hold a place in my heart with how it was able to capture futurism. This is the Fruitiger Aero future we were promised. This was the genisis of the internet.

the nostalgia hits when your a 6 year old in 2019 and at your grandparents house and trying to connect to wfc but its disconnected and you don't know what ctgp is and what wimmfi is, that was me, I modded my Wii when I was like 9 or 8, and it feels like its been 5 years since you modded your Wii but it's actually been like 1 or 2 years ago, I'm turning 10 this year, time flies by doesn't it?

I'm gonna actually cry Mariokart Wii was my childhood I remember the summer of 2013 I did nothing but play Mariokart all day with my older cousin we'd race with different people around the world and race each other now its 2023 I'm about to graduate high school in 4 months and my older cousin is all the way in Hawaii I still play Mariokart but now theyres no more Nintendo WiFi so now it just feels empty and abandoned its sad.
