- Vice President Kamala Harris rolled out her plan to address specific economic policies Friday while campaigning in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her proposals include subsidizing low-wage workers and families with children. Harris also proposed some benefits for first-time homebuyers. @Joe-gw9wh How much of the debt that was added during the Trump presidency has nothing to do with anything. Congress set the taxes and the spending -- not the president. And most of our laws have been in place for years. They did not just happen.
And a lot of the debt builds upon itself due to interest that has to be paid on the current debt, and the Federal Reserve establishes the interest rate by holding public auctions. It goes up and down based upon market forces.

Fellow Democrats - Please explan to me how giving $25k to home buyers won't cause home sellers to raise their prices by $25k. Please tell me how handing thousands of dollars to millions of people through the child tax credit won't cause the price if gooods/services to go up? Plus, forcing businesses to lower prices will cause fewer goods to be made. The definition of inflation is "too many dollars chasing too few goods". Every single policy is inflationary?

I strongly disagree with Spending my tax payer’s money for 1st time home buyer aid program. It is a ridiculous idea. Where is the money from? It does not provide the justice! Everyone shall earn their hard money to buy anything they wish to own!
The Earned Income Credit is not for allowing most Americans to keep more of their money. The EIC is a credit which means the government actually gives you the money. Most people who qualify for the EIC barely pay any federal income taxes. Instead they actually get more back in a refund than they had taken from their paychecks. So she is not telling the whole truth there. She is making it sound like the EIC recipients are keeping more of the money they pay in taxes when they are getting more back than they put in.
What a blank. No wonder her handlers never let her speak off-script.

The we's I ever knew is myself and my husband that saved and sacrificed to pay our OWN down payment. And who are the "we's" that are paying for all the student debt that is being forgiven. You take out a loan, you pay your own debt. As a taxpayers, I don't want to pay anyone else's debt or their down payment for a house. Pay your own bills, no one paid mine. We got handed nothing and didn't look for or expect a free ride for anything. And we're better for it!

I would guess a lot of that is regional and/or related to which station you're getting your gas at (I live in Seattle where prices on pretty much everything are high, and Shell gas will be over $5 while Safeway or Costco gas is significantly cheaper). The US national average right now is $3.44 a gallon, which is down $0.40 from a year ago. Gas in the summertime is higher, due additional demand, more expensive summertime gas blends, and increased crude oil refining costs in hotter weather. Also crude oil has increased in price and remained more expensive ever since the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
