I'll never forget that one doctor at QEH who said my father was just sick from old age. I cried and I begged for further tests and she just ignored my pleas. 9 months later my father passed away in QEH from cancer. That doctor can rot in hell.

This song would've been considered funny a number of years ago when Barbados was shaping herself on the world stage and our infrastructure was in its building stages.
Sadly we're known around the world only as a tourist destination in this 21st century, what "Biggie Irie" is here singing is true, it's a crying shame for an island where many from other islands saw a place with good medical services in the 1970s/80s.

I hope that we the people come together with solutions because who you’re waiting on are waiting on you. This is a self help situation at QEH. The people who we expect to listen and respond unfortunately, are not subjected to this experience. It will not resonate with the sense of urgency required to fix the situation. We need to pool our resources together as citizens because it’s we who are suffering.
When you say pool resources what you mean exactly? Tax payers money that was spent on other things not essential that could have been better used at the Hospital?
He ain't lie. I feel bad especially for the elderly forced to sit in a chair in A & E for up to 3 days and nights..no meals, hardly any attention...it needs to stop.
Is there not cafes or restaurants facilities on site.
Do the patients on the wards get any form of refreshments/ something to eat after visitors' time is over?

Its no lie what he is saying , the QEH needs help, nurses n doctors do complain n the patients, some of us hve waited hours n days for care in the A&E, if you hve never been there gd for you but listen to what the ppl are saying.

This is the truest song ever. If I tell wanna my experience at QEH last summer, u would cry.
Health care is extremely expensive and you do not pay enough taxes to cover good health care.
You do not purchase private insurance to help offset some of the costs to the QEH but you complain about the care.
If it is so bad, you can do something about it. BUY INSURANCE!
You will tell me now that it is too expensive and Bajans can not afford it but you go to these big and expensive events yearly. You spread rumors about an outbreak of covid at the hospital and it is you who brought it there!
The QEH is overwhelmed by your selfish actions. Health professionals are telling you how to care for yourselves but either you are not listening or you do not care. There are consequences for your actions.
It is sad that someone who complained about a headache which turned out to be a bleed in his brain which could have been catastrophic, could think of a most unthankful way of appreciation for the good free medical care which restored him to good health . Biggie, how much did it cost the taxpayers of Barbados for your care?
Are you willing to contribute funding to services that you mentioned which are lacking?
Is Biggie not a taxpayer as well? Whether it is through direct or indirect taxation, he has paid for access to this public good. There is no such thing as free education or free health care. We pay through our teeth every day to access these things. As a taxpayer he has a reasonable expectation to receive quality medical attention in a timely manner. There is a health levy charged through NIS and prior to this administration a levy was put on fuel at the pump which was to go to fund QEH. You may correct me if I'm wrong, but these levies are still in place but the QEH is still underfunded and struggling.
Everyone who works should be a taxpayer because of a PAYE tax. Do you think that the amount of taxes he pays can cover the care that he had? All public care facilities over the world have the same issue of extended 'wait time '.
There exists free health care and education. If you receive a benefit for which you did not pay, it is free. How many bajans pay for health care at the QEH?

Why don't you look at other developed countries and see similar complaints or the same complaints of long waiting hours in A&Es. At least some ppl can get refreshments.
The people have to wait ages for treatments; doctors are leaving and going abroad to places like Australia and New Zealand for better pay and conditions.
You have a closed mind until you and your family are impacted by such an incident.
What the singer is pointing out, desperate need for improvement, in the only way he can by using his platform - this is a national crisis and Barbadians are not getting the basic medical care given to the sick even if complaints were made by staffs.
What would be your response if tourists (preferably white with your bias) had an episode and were given the same treatments, then sue Barbados for incompetence.

Bajans can find money to do shite but when it comes to important matters they neglect this.
People do all manner of unhealthy things then expect free health care.
