I finally got myself a decent fish finder.
I know Its not the ducks nuts but its going to give me a fighting chance now that I can see fish and structure on the bottom.
We got the Lowrance Hook Reveil 7 triple shot. Its really just an entry level to medium level but they say its great for beginners to get a real taste of what they can do and my Son and I are keen to get her back into the Brissy river ASAP and catch us some Jew and Thready's. Love your work. Guys like yourself are great for beginners like my son and I. BELIEVE me when I say, vids like this one have shown us that fishing is no longer just luck. Its an art form and when you learn those formulas, thats when you start to be able to target and hunt fish and Im an open book. Im from the days where you stick a half frozen, dirty, stinking old bit of bait shop prawn on a hook and hope for the best. Its only now we are learning how to use soft rubbers, vibes, etc.. Even understanding the differences and needs of braided line with smaller more sensitive rods. So now we have got our little boat and all the suggested gear and we are ready to go go go. Hope to see some of you guys out there. Keep up the good work. It really does help people like us and is not just good entertainment. Cheers for your input.

Mate that is so so heart warming to hear. I’m no pro either. Started lure fishing around 5years ago. Back then I could easily get a big jew on any given trip I head out but it was on livies.
Lures however is a different story…. I tell everyone it’s like the difference between a forager and a hunter. The hunter actively goes out look for the prey and tries to get into their head to trick them out whereas a forager lays a trap, sits and waits..
Now a days with the amount of pressure the system is in knowing what to do and what to look for makes all the difference. I had briefly owned a Reveal 7 or 9 on one of my new boats too. It is sold now but was extremely clear even at high speeds. I was pretty surprised!! My main boat had a hds 9 carbon but the quality of the readings was nowhere near as crisp as that of the reveal.
Much like you I spend a lot of time on the water now reading and more reading of sounders. That is actually the reason why I haven’t been releasing too much vids lately. I go out and spend the day reading the sounders and exploring new areas. If I catch a good haul then I post up… if I catch only a few, I just delete all footage ready for next session.
Good luck guys and yes hope to catch yous one day on the Brissie River :) 👌

@@sonniesfishingadventures Same guy as above but on my wifes utube account. Im locked out of mine for some reason.
Cheers for the reply Sonny. Im 53 years old now and have spent a lot of my time around the bay. My Father always owned a 35 foot bay chugga of some kind growing up.
Our boat at one time used to be moored at the mouth of Breaky Creek just under the bridge to the left where the Hotel is there. It used to be the old 4BK radio station back then. Funny thing is, my old man never fished, so I didnt do a lot until now that I have grown kids of my own so certainly this type of fishing is still new. We have literally learned everything from guys like you and your vids. Every time I saw you pull in these huge fish I got so jealous, but in a good way. Ive just learned today a proper way of tying the leader to the braided watching a vid. Dont underestimate what you do Sonny. You guys are every part of what Australia means to me. Keep up the good work Bro and as we are still learning, we have plenty to do in the river so will see you there Bro.

Always moor your boat towards end of pontoon mate so others can launch and retrieve while you park your car or get rigging up. Other than that great vid

I do mate. If you noticed at the very beginning of the video there were two other boats behind me towards the end of the pontoon. They must of left while I went to park the trailer.

Hey Sonnie! Great video with good insight into your thought process. I will have to try that spot for a feed of flatties and put some soft plastic practice in.

This vid is almost a year old. I have been practising for a while now and have caught a few jewies already. Still haven’t managed a threadie yet but yeah being a bottom hopping lure you’d get a few bottom dwellers like the stone fish you caught and the one in this vid :)

Yes, easiest ramp to access the port. Pinkenba is on the northern side of the river if you are from the north but that ramp is not sheltered as the one i went to
