I was a cabinetmaker for 38 years Buckin. It does my heart good to see you grab that 8 quarter hickory and cut it up......and make a nice axe handle! You are unstoppable my friend!

White Oak is gorgeous with that tight grain and I love when those medullary rays start showing up. And that smell...Oh man, I love the smell. Furniture, cabinets, boats, flooring, and handles on tools...I've used it everywhere. A chair maker in south eastern US, Brian Boggs uses it a lot and sometimes makes it jet black. He soaks steel wool in vinegar for like a week. When he puts it on the wood and it reacts with the tannins in the white oak and turns black deep into the grain. It's not a stain, it's a chemical reaction. It's one of my favorite woods. Love your enthusiasm! It lifts me up and brightens my day. So thank you for sharing these experiences.
Every time I'm having a bad day I always get on here and watch your video and it always lower my stress to sit down and watch you for hours at a time and just ignore everything around me. So I want to thank you for that.
Wow! What a great video! I made my first handle last week for a 2kg axe head following your instructions from other videos and looks good being my first handle, thank you very much, cheers!🤘
I never tire of watching your videos. New or old ones I have always found something new and helpful in them. Not to mention the pure positive vibes I get every time I watch one. Keep em coming Buckin!!!! Greetings from Arkansas. Wooo Pig
I see the respirator and safety goggles have made an appearance. I’ve been carving chainsaw bears and eagles lately and a couple days ago I took a cedar chip to the eyeball and it was the worst one yet. I woke up the morning after and couldn’t open my eye, I almost had to make a run to the emergency room. I just ordered a pair of those steel mesh goggles! Before long I’ll be OSHA approved 😁 Handle looks great, Billy. Good to see you’re still lovin’ life brother!
I'm alway amazed by chain saw carvers I run saw everyday an dont know hoe you guys do it even with the right barn n chain what not a guy who lives down the rd a piece does nice work bears an other animal he has one strapped down in the bed of his pick up every time I run into him at gas station or around town I end up staring at that bear saying how the heck do you do that lol keep it up but stay safe you gotta see to be able to carve lol
Those are going to be beauties. Each and every handle will have something a little bit different with your own unique shape and feel. Cant wait to see them finished Buckin.
