- Here we take a look at the JoPix CB-514, which essentially is a Multi-Norm CB handheld transceiver. However, in Export mode this radio can use between 25Mhz right up to 30Mhz, covering 11 and 10 Metres, AM and FM.

jaw-dropping sound quality with the noise reducer on on 29.15 MHz amplitude modulation
JUST ANOTHER THUNDERPOLE TX HANHELD CB WITH ANOTHER DIFFRENT MAKE ON IT.
EXCELLENT PIECE OF KIT THOUGH.GREAT NOISE REDUCTION AND YOU CAN EXPAND THE FREQUENCIES.
Similar to the Thunderpole and Pni Escort radios. Great to have all these choices.
Great review and a superb price on that set, cheers Mat.
Thanks 👍
I want one. It's great to see new choices for 10 meters.
Ive noticed the display layout is not the same as the thunderpole. Is there anyway to change this ? Plus it seems you can't auto scan either
I have the PNI Escort HP 82, it-s basically the same radio as the JOPIX and to go in to scan mode you long press the EMG/SC button.
@@salvatoremancuso6060 I don't think that works but I'm returning it anyway if I can as the display is mot the same as the Thunderpole including the signal meter. Not impressed
Tech minds where the CB and radio amateur hobby blends together, right :-)?
Great CB, some friend of mine buy the twins from thunderpole uk and I buy the PNI clone ... both cb and 10 meter was good , 12 so so, in trails for offroad adventure with friends without fixed radio was really effective even withj original antenna inside the jeep (maybe cause fiberglass roof shel?!)
Quality of the noise reduction - and on AM, is superb..!
It doesn't have the export mode anymore
Looks really good, thank you for sharing.
My pleasure 😊
Nice radio and good video, thanks for all...
Our pleasure!
What's the difference between the Jopix 514, thunderpole t-x, PNI escort and the Mass KCB, they all look the same on the outside but what about there functions and frequencies etc ??
Hi @Tech Minds. I have bought that rig and tried to charge the battery yesterday. It took me more than 5 hours to fully change it with included charger and cable. The rig was drawing only 0.3A while charging... Is this normal? What is your experience? Thanks.
Hi @TechMinds. I found that my radio bought in Spain has no export mode enabled. Any hint how to enable it? The internets are not very helpful so far..
was ist mit Deiner Modulation passiert? Studiomikrofon kaputt? 73 Maik
Good video. Not a bad price either for that thing.
super vidéo 😏👍mais pourquoi la modification ( quelle soit hard ou soft ) ne tourne pas sur net ...😕
Thanks!
Did you have to do anything to activate the wideband menu because many users are reporting that this radio does not have access to the menu out of the box? In other words, nothing happens when they do the key press.
Nope, it just worked out of the box for me.
@@TechMindsOfficial it appears to depend on where you buy it. Some dealers enable the mod others don't.
There is probably a loop to be cut somewhere
Hey there Matt, did you get my email? I won the rtl sdr 👍📻
I sent it on your m0dqw page, there wasn't an email address on your RUclips info.
I'm loving this handheld CB btw, I have a Moonraker major 42, and a Midland 42 already, or I'd be rushing out to get one, or the Thunderpole TX, which seems very similar.
I still have a lot of old and not so old cb, my alan 42 was good the replace 42ds same good but dont like autosquelch, have the pni clone of major42 was good to but JOPIX-PNI-THUNDERPOLE in this video I can says are better without doubt (i'm little curious about new president randyIII)
@@alessandroconcas I expected the newer radios to be better, I'm now thinking about selling my old handhelds on the used market, and upgrading to something like this in the video 🤔
The Randy looks pretty good, just a little expensive compared to this one, and the Thunderpole TX. I think Andy Kirby reviewed the Randy, but that might have been the Randy II?
@electricbloke No sorry, didn’t get it as there was an issue with the contact form. The email address is now on that same page, please email me. Thanks
Seems to be a very versatile handheld. It would be great for some 10 meter portable. Question. Can this be adapted to the US CB bands?
@@Tank6883I think that US CB band is the same as the mid band, which is common on most of our radios in the UK. I aren't certain, but maybe someone else can chime in with a solid answer.
I have the PNI Escort HP82 looks exactly the same, but ive tried your trick holding down FUNC and PTT when turning on hoping it would do the same function but it doesn't, do you know if my PNI will do this with a different button combo? thank yoy
I tried the same. Doesn't work with the PNI HP82
It has shift 0.1MHz or CTCCS tones?
Spurious emissions do not play a role in the CB band - is that the reason you haven't tested them?
Spurious emissions play a role on any transmitter, regardless of frequency. But a good point, I should of checked it.
No ssb no good
Nobody cares!
@@cariboooutlaw4852we do
The charging is not quite USB-C, well not with the 3 USB-C chargers I have
It will charge from a USB-A charger with the USB-A to USB-C cable, like supplied.
IF IT DOESN'T HAVE SSB DONT BOTHER
didnt realize i had caps on ..lol sorry
No that should be loud and clear. SSB is necessary for most hams. I'm not going to waste my money if it don't have what I want. 73
SSB hand portable rádios are rare and not the best performers.
FM will be good enough for field comms.
SSB on portables with weak batteries is not usable...
I'm sure the baofeng owners will be all over this
No SSB? Not interested.
You would never get SSB for that price
Who cares if it has no SSB, it's a great radio for the price!
@@cariboooutlaw4852 the fact it works on 10m AM and FM is,definitely a plus for us hams
@@cariboooutlaw4852 No it's not. It's not FCC certified for use in the U.S. The FCC would never certify that anyway. Sounds like it's from some fly-by-night no-name China brand. People should save their money and for $100 more, get a SSB radio so they can talk farther. A hand held AM/FM CB might only get out 2 miles at best.
@@joeblow8593well since you commented that, there's been several RUclips videos posted since then showing that these AM/FM radios have very good range. Some of these handhelds have a range up to 25 Km away with just the rubber duck antenna!
What is that Greek thing on 29.250?
Yes that's Greek. Very impressive if the included rubber duck is being used indoors.
All I got was SV???YD
Can you tell me if there is a 27mhz repeater near Amersham
No there is not. Look on UK Repeaters website for UK repeater locations. Not sure there are any active 10M repeaters active in the UK. There used to be.
Are you in Amersham?
No...
11m repeaters
There is a 10m repeater in Worthing west Sussex
Similar to the President Randy III
Is there a handheld radio that does have ssb?
The Albrecht AE 2990 has SSB
@@cariboooutlaw4852
No longer sold ?
@@jplacido9999 no longer manufactured but may be still available from some European dealers.
@@cariboooutlaw4852
I have one.
The front panel buttons are now in need of replacement and I'm trying to find that part...
@@jplacido9999 good luck trying to find parts for that.
This should work with the PNI HP82...but it don't.
Nanfone cb-272
Pity ya cant buy it anywhere else but moonraker
Come on you need SSB, don't bother buying
So what? It's a great radio for the price!
