Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are a life saver. I've been looking for keto rotis and keto Indian food and found your channel. I am your latest subscriber and thank you for all that you do. With love and best wishes from South Africa.
I was looking for a healthier way to make flour tortillas since I am trying to avoid gluten. Love your recipe!!!! I am trying these roti tonight. Thank you for the recipe. Blessings!!!!.
I was confused over the room temperature water but now I realize that it is flax seeds that require hot water. I make tortillas with coconut flour, flax seed meal, psyllium husk powder, a little chia and coconut oil. It’s nice but a little gummy. This roti of yours is interesting option. I might have to tone down my other ingredients and see how it works with your recipe.
Nupur I am making these now. And I ate the first one. It is DELICIOUS!! I didn't even need anything else with it. Thank you for this recipe. I had a different coconut flour brand I think because even with half the water from the recipe it got very soggy.
I absently love Indian food!!! I am so very grateful to have found your channel. Our favorite is Royal Prawn Biryani, with fresh tomatoes & cashews. Do you think you may be able to help me make it Keto?
Idk why but it looks too delicate to knead in a dough kneader machine i have. I'm yet to start cooking keto roti alternatives like this. This can be done in a stand mixer right?
What brand of coconut flour do you use>? Every time I try to make anything with coconut flour even fine powder, even sifted I can always taste the grains of the flour. Anyone with pleasant texture?
I'm not sure about this recipe in particular, but usually use less coconut flour and more cream cheese or eggs or peanut butter -- something creamy. This helps the texture.
hi, i just trued these, first batch ended up too watery so i used a little less water the next batch and they looked better but fell apart, im guessing to little water? Also does psyllium husk powder make a difference? And out of curiosity what does the oil do in the recipe? i see similar without it. Thanks for the video
Try adding a little more psyllium husk powder. I use flakes and not really sure how much powder would be needed. Oil make the roti a little moist but not really required.
If you have a different form of psyllium start with the gram weight specified by the recipe instead of the volumetric weight in the recipe and modify from there based on how your dough is behaving.
How about save the dough (with chia seeds) in the fridge, buy some psyllium husk and add it to it. I think that should bind everything together. Or add some egg! Thinking of ways so you don’t waste your dough :(
I read a similar comment about the roti turning purple. I have no idea why. Is the psyllium husk purple? Could you use the Sat Isabgol brand of psyllium husk (sold in any Indian store). What is the brand of coconut flour you are using?
They have a slight coconut taste. That’s why pairs especially well with curries cooked in coconut milk. I also made another roti and a naan that taste neutral, you could try them as well ruclips.net/video/c9fqNJQd-CU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7Pgi_W7huDc/видео.html
I used the same measurements but after adding water, my dough was all jelly like, it didn't become a dough, what did I do wrong? I used home made coconut flour.
Sorry it did not work out. Not sure if it’s the psyllium husk or homemade coconut flour. Next time add water little by little till it forms a dough (instead of adding all the water at once). Maybe that could help.
Are you using the same brands of ingredients? If not, add less water first, you can add more later if needed. The dough should come together. It’s not difficult to make these Rotis
Yes Jay coconut is high in fats and carbs. But coconut flour is made in a way that fats are mostly stripped off and the carbohydrates are balanced by excess fiber. Coconut flour is perfectly suited for a keto diet
Chia seeds or flax seeds. But I have not substituted it in this recipe. Maybe you could try these rotis instead? ruclips.net/video/c9fqNJQd-CU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7Pgi_W7huDc/видео.html
Hi Nupur! This looks great. But where can I find the kind of coconut flour you have used? It looks super fine like maida. The ones I get are a little coarse...kind of flaky.
maybe its my portable stove which auto switches heat on/off all the time, but one roti here takes forever, i.e. it remains in the wet state for 10mins or so, its difficult to flip also
Add more psyllium husk and flour and see if it comes together. Different brands of flour can have different water absorption capacities. Next time you could try reducing the quantity of water

Absolutely have to flatten them?
Is there any alternative for psyllium husk
I tried flax seeds but it did not bind well. You could try Xanthum Gum
Substitute for psylum husk
Try Xanthan gum

Hi,
What's this coconut flour..? Is that coconut milk powder
Coconut flour is made by drying and grinding coconut pulp after coconut milk has been extracted
Please tell us if its imp to add psyllium husk
Yes psyllium husk acts as a binding agent. The rotis will fall apart without it.
Hi! Can i make this in advance and freeze it?
Yes! use parchment paper or wax paper in between the rotis so they don’t stick to each other
Thank you so much! ❤️

Purple is from the psyllium husk. It's fine. Some just do that without looking purple before cooking.

Cook it longer on the pan. Or next time reduce the water quantity a bit. Sometimes different brands of coconut flour absorb water differently.

Add some more psyllium husk? Is it breaking while taking it off the silicone mat? Then roll it slightly thick

Is coconut flour just powdered desicatted coconut?
Coconut milk is extracted from the coconut, it is then dried and powdered
