This all actually looks incredible, the only nitpick, and it is a nitpick, is that the alt skins are just simple pallet swaps (so far), it'd be nice to see some more significant changes to skins as unlocks, like the samurai armour for merc, or the deadbolt helmet for bandit in ror2
I super agree with this one, simple palette swaps are boring. Ones that they can sneak in nice lil touches to the alternate skins (like Deadbolt Helmet for Bandit) is cool.
@@heronvitor6886 you underestimate sprite work in general, they could defo do more with it. Don't get me wrong, I know why they're palette swaps, means they just have to change colours and don't need to reanimate anything, but I'm just saying it'd be nice. Still a nitpick tho
@@jakeberry5036 Problem with that would be they would have to make new versions of every animation for every skill for every unique skin. It's not as simple as it is with a color swap. It gets even more problematic when official modding is introduced and modders make their own alt skills with their own animations
@@TheGreenDigi just replied to some other dude and I said the same thing, I understand the extra workload alternate skins and animations put on, I've done enough sprite work myself to recognise it first hand, but it's not unattainable, and could defo be done relatively quickly (I.e. 1 custom skin + animations per character would fine). It's just a nitpick anyway, but bringing up modding is interesting, as people will prolly be making custom skins and characters regardless. I just think it'd be nice to bring back the monsoon rewards from ror2 (beat monsoon with a character, get their cool skin)
Still gonna be a bit of a bitch to unlock though. I cheated and enabled Glass and Command when I unlocked it originally. I’m not too great with Mercenary so it was my only chance.

My favourite red item for sure, super cool, some were maybe a lil underwhelming, but super cool item idea, hope they make the upgrade a bit more noticeable this time around
I fell in love with Risk of Rain Classic, I enjoyed the ride in Risk of Rain 2, I now cry joyful tears for Risk of Rain: Return No amount of waiting will stop me from going back to Petrichor V. Seeing the remaster made me cry a bit, just seeing how much fresh life being brought back into an already amazing game. This is the only game that I've bought over 10 copies (for friends) of because I believe it's an amazing game. Love you Hopoo

All of these new abilities look great, along with the updates to the game visually! I'm gonna take a long shot and assume one of those hidden characters is gonna be captain or some alternative to him
It's already been confirmed that only 1 of the 3 new characters will be from ror2. And we've seen in both the trailer, and they've teased on twitter, that it'll be artificer. Though it's almost a gurantee that people will mod in the other ror2 characters into returns eventually, especially since official modding support will be a thing later on for pc.

One of the big things I wanted Sniper to Do that I thought would make him WAY better would be if he could pierce enemies in the way of his shot. Similar to what the Railgunner does in Risk 2. It could do less damage as it went through enemies or something, but do extra damage if it hits the intended Target. As a Sniper Main it just always felt like he couldn't really deal with multiple targets at later stages, at all. Really fun until you actually play long enough.
Also the Molten Coin has been added, you can see its sprite in some of the footage. There also seems to be that one plant white item, the one that increased all sources of healing by a little. I can’t tell for sure that’s what that sprite is, though.
Got mods to work for ror1 and been playing starstorm for a few days, and some of these seem really inspired by that, but the creator of the mod is working full time in the team on RoRR so that explains, super cool to see him in the team
I absolutely cannot wait for this game. Hopoo has been and will continue to be my favorite video game developer. Y'all just know how to make games fun.
@@good-sofa i think its plenty good. Honestly the unlock condition is so rng and grindy which I'm ok but to put it beside Commando is like putting it with the basic characters. I actually got her last.
Just unlocked Engi’s V0.2 Laser Turret today, and it is SO FUN! I love using it to destroy both hordes and single targets. It’s especially potent with Unstable Watch’s time stop to give it time to charge, and with Time Keeper’s Secret, which makes it stop time briefly as it expires.
Never played risk 1, but started 2 pretty early on in early access. Quickly became one of my favorite games. Especially after a 2 month span where I had no internet and it was one of the few games I could play. So I'm super excited for risk of rain returns. It looks stunning, and incredibly fun.
Looking absolutely fantastic! Totally loved RoR (and RoR 2), and RoR Returns looks to be jam-packed with really well-conceived new ideas and mechanics (plus sumptuous visuals). Can't wait, chaps! :)
Can't wait. RoR1 is one of my favourite roguelikes. New content for the game and classes is always welcome. Always thought the Huntress, Miner and Sniper could be rebalanced to make them more fun. Glad that is being worked on.
These all look really amazing! My only concern is with the Engineer's new turret. Overwhelming power can be fun but this also reminds me of the Pyro in TF2 and how the Gas Passer frustrates allies in Co-op since they are unable to contribute in a meaningful way. It is so powerful that it can feel like a requirement. It is cool to see an turret which is making use of the low health items in RoR1. This can lead to a very opposite builds for Engineer compared to what you're normally after which is really nice. I'm just afraid it will be way too strong or way too weak since it deals purely in extremes. I hope you can find a healthy balance for it.

It seems to be a slightly changed version of “Risk of Rain,” the title music screen music for the original game.
Risk of rain 1 was one of the first indie games I bought and one of the first indie games made me go wow this is actually really cool.
