i have tried the avocado on, and it works REALLY WELL on my hair!! it has great slip and the moisture it fantastic, and ya girl ha crazy dry hair. ALSO you high key inspired me to start treating my hair right, so shout out to you penny :D
I've tried the green and orange lids and love the green for a leave in. (Only leave in my hair has loved) doesn't give me much slip but the end results are great. And they smell amazing lol
I use Garnier's coconut conditioner as deep conditioner and I'm loving the results so far. It might not be the best product out there, but it's the best I could find where I live. The amazing thing about a big brand going natural is that it makes it easier for us curly girls living in third world countries. Brands like devacurl are impossible to get here and shipping is mad expensive 😢
Seems silly for a mask to claim 1 min. Even more so if u have low porosity like me. Anytime I deep condition I have to use a heating cap and 1 min wouldn't cut it. Which is why I left it in for 25 mins in a heating cap and I'm amazed at how well it conditioned my hair.
Same! I tried them but found that I wasn’t reaching for them because I wash twice a week and deep condition every time, so I use my staples. However! My my daughter has wavy hair and uses this after every wash as a 1 minute mask and her hair loves them!
I think those 1min. masks are awesome, for 1 min.? Come on. I can save me a lot of time if it only needs 1 min.! Now, I generally leave my conditioners in for only 2 min. anyway, but if I can cut that in half, hey, why not!
We here in Australia have recently been treated to the release of 4 different flavours of this line and we curlies have been using them in all the suggested ways plus for 20-30 minutes as a deep conditioner & the results have been consistently great. Well done Garnier.
I just bought it two days ago and the fact u bought it calms me. I started my Curl journey just 3 months ago bc my hair it was death I couldn't manage it I always try to kill it with heat so it's straight but at one point my hair was just helpless. Now I try to be good to my hair. And it improved a lot. My starter pack was or is the Cantu product line I am very happy with it but now it's almost empty and I try new things u and ur friends really help me through it. So thanks for testing it.
I loooove the papaya one! I don't have thick hair, so it's nice and light as a mask and a leave in. In the "mask" attribute, I use it in between DevaCurl's Melt into Moisture (MIM one week, One Minute Mask the next week). I love it as a leave in especially when I pair it with the Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Magic and a hard hold gel (Giovanni is my fave right now). ^_^
I used the avocado one (which is a bit more hydrating than the coconut one) twice a week for one week and it gave me really bad moisture overload. My hair was flat, undefined, basically straight, and mushy. I had to use sulfate to get my curls back and now I can only use that mask weekly or biweekly, depending on how much protein I have been using on my hair. Be careful with these masks if you have looser curls!
Oh good to know. Maybe I need the avocado one then. The coconut one is alright but I wish it was more moisturizing. I have tighter curls but I am so sorry you got moisture overload.
it’s really dependent on your hair porosity, not your curl pattern. i have hair that needs a lot of protein and moisture and this didn’t do a whole lot as a deep conditioner but if your hair doesn’t need a ton of moisture/protein this would probably be a decent deep conditioner every few weeks. i think i’ll just use mine as a regular conditioner tbh lol
I only use these on my ends. I had a moisture overload issue with SheaMoisture shampoos and I decided to keep the oily stuff on my ends and such. If it gives you moisture overload then use it less often (I use the coconut one once every 2 weeks)
This is my most favorite leave-in conditioner ever! I've tried it as the one-minute mask and as a rinse-out. I wasn't super impressed with it as either of those. It's perfect for my hair as a leave-in though. I have very coarse hair, and those spray leave-ins just don't cut it. The Smoothing Treat with avocado oil is my favorite of the line.
Please review the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and restore leave in conditioner. I know you’ve reviewed other products from SM before but they’ve recently sold their company and everyone’s complaining because they’ve changed they’re ingredients/formulas and have supposedly lied as well. It’d be helpful to so many of us!! Love your channel, it’s sooo helpful ! ❤️
Hi Penny! Can you do a video on stylers and explain the differences between them as i have been struggling with which one should i use :D And what ingredients should i look out for! Honestly any help will be great!!
I love your hair videos, just found them! I'm a mixed girl so felt like I had to brush and straighten my hair as all my friends were asian or white growing up. Learning your tips and tricks and following your journey is saving me. Just found you today and love it
Keerthanaa K I tried the bamboo one and it's terrible. Don't bother with it, it's not moisturizing at all. I'm curious if the other ones are better, Penny should review 😁
kateri17 yea I have the pink one I only used it two times so I don’t how I feel about it, it’s really smooth and makes my hair feel soft but I feel like some parts of my hair are puffier than usual
They also have a new product called hairfood (three "flavors": banana, papaya and strawberry, you take your pick), and I tried it and it's actually pretty great! Don't know if it's out in the US yet, but if you have a chance to try it, I'd love to know what you think! :)
I had this on my ‘curly girl products to try’ list after I saw your video on shopping CG with Bianca! So glad to see you reviewed it! It makes sense that it wouldn’t be the BEST, I may buy it and try it as a deep conditioner by mixing it with almond oil and heating it up. I am also totally digging the fact that such a big drugstore brand is moving towards using better ingredients! Their products are so affordable & smell so good- I hope a day will come when I can buy a Garnier conditioner with no silicones :)
I just got this about a week ago and have only used it once, so I can't say if I like it yet. I'm a little confused by the difference between using it as a mask vs as a regular conditioner, as I always leave my conditioner in while I shave and wash my body, which is longer than one minute. I also tend to use small amounts of regular conditioner as leave in anyway, so for me I'm not going to use it any differently than any other conditioner. I am still excited about it because it's silicone free, inexpensive, and really easy to find.
I would love to see a favorite deep conditioner video from you. I think I over moisturized or I gave my hair too much protein from my deep conditioner.
I've been using the soothing Avocado one as a leave in recently and I LOVE it. my hair is extremely frizzy and it cuts that down to almost nothing. it's fantastic.
Thank you for review..love your videos... don’t stop.. Question...what products do you recommend for 2 or 3rd day hair? Seems like my hair looks best on first day only...
I would highly recomend to use the Banana one, it smells soooo good + i use it as a leave-in on the go and it works amazing, i could stop washing my hair for 5 days and use only the leave-in daily and my hair will still look on fleek
I just found your channel today and I’m soooo freaking happy I found it because I’m still trying to find out wth to do with my hair and what to do to remove frizz my shampoos and conditioner has silicone and sulfates and I was shocked now all I have to do is finish them and get all new hair products. Thank you so much penny
I’ve been using the avocado one for about 2 months now, i use it to deep condition with and i usually leave it is for about 30+ minutes, then i will co wash and condition and my hair is improved a lot! My hair seems to love it! It went from feeling like party city wig hair to actual human hair.
Hi. I am glad you reviewed this. As I was considering buying it but I didn't because of one of the ingredients. It has sodium hydroxide and I read that it is a hair relaxer and I got scared. Please share some thoughts on that. Thank you.
I tried the banana one and I love it...I left it for a hour mask though ain't nothing working in one minute for me lol I heard the avocado one is the best I wanna test it
I started the curly girl Routine my hair looked very good except the three front pieces didnt curl as much as they used to with my sulfate and silicone shampoo& leave in :( Why?
Stefanie Blanche my hairdresser told me that the front pieces are a lot more exposed to the sun and can be flat because we wear it in a ponytail, so maybe that could be the problem? Try using a heat protectant, it helped me :)
Omg I got this yesterday and I got the babaya one and it smells so good and when I make up I sleep so bad that my curls look dead but when u wash them they r bouncy but one last night I used this and my curls look amazing when I woke up The only difference is I used it as a leave In and it has been over 24 hours and my hair still smells good
Penny does the mop top really work well without crunch? I need a light gel but can't afford to continue to purchase several products. Thank you for being so honest!
Hi!! Love your channel, I have a question, is it bad to sleep with damp hair? I can only shower later in the day and my hair doesn’t completely dry, hair dryers make my hair frizzy even with a diffuser!!
Can you make a video about all the other ingredients ( except silicones or sulfates) that we usually see on any conditioner or shampoo ? Kind of like an explanation about all those other ingredients like phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, linum usitatissimum, behentrimonium chloride etc.
I have tried these. With my experience I put it on and when it's time to rinse I don't rinse it out all the way. It seems to work out pretty well that way.
I’m glad I found your channel because I’m trying to go natural but I never had anyone to tell me how to do my hair because I always had curly hair so I straightened and straighten ed and now my curl pattern is messed up but I cut it and I want it to grow back natural any tips on how to make my hair grow quicker and thicker thank you 😁
Ive used the avocado one but I never leave it in for just 1 minute, I let it sit in my hair like i would other conditioners while I finish other shower stuff and I do think it makes a difference if you leave it in longer or use heat with it so i would suggest you try it that way.
I tried the avocado version and while it made my hair feel pretty nice and helped with the dryness, it really weighed down my curl patter :/ so.....eh. I might return it.
I do plan on trying their new masks, tho we don't have the coconut one here. 😕 P.S. I need your help. My hair, from the roots down to my ears doesn't want to curl. Even when I finger coil my hair, only half of my hair will curl. Do you know what can be the problem and what can I do to prevent that? ☺
Hey Penny , my crown (roots) stay flat and oily even on my second day . I have used shampoo conditioner and leave in serum yesterday and let my hair air dry. Any idea why this might be happening ?
Do you have a go to curl routine when you are not aiming for just straight volume or extreme curl definition??? Do you already have a video of your normal curl routine
Help! My hair is still super dry after getting it dyed a month ago and deep conditioners don’t seem to help much. I left one in OVERNIGHT and when I rinsed it out it was worse than when I started. Can you make a video about the differences between curly hair types and what works best for each one?
PSA: The papaya one has way more slip smells the BEST!! 😍 A little goes a long way with that one don't be fooled by the tiny pot! They're barely more expensive than those tiny Shea moisture packets of deep conditioner for way more usage!
In your video you say that you didnt expectes much from this conditioner because it only costs 2.99$.Doea that mean that in order to buy a good conditioner you should expect to pay a lot of money? Isnt there a better more economical alternative? Thanks in advance! @itscurlypenny
Thank you for reviewing this!!! I was wondering about it. On the video, like you said, not much of a difference depending on the way you use it. It'll be a pass for me. I like Maui moisture better.
Have you tried these yet? What do you think of them? What else should I review?

I've tried the green and orange lids and love the green for a leave in. (Only leave in my hair has loved) doesn't give me much slip but the end results are great. And they smell amazing lol

PSA: The papaya one has way more slip smells the BEST!! 😍 A little goes a long way with that one don't be fooled by the tiny pot! They're barely more expensive than those tiny Shea moisture packets of deep conditioner for way more usage!
I used the one with the green lid I am not impressed I didn't think that it made a good leave in
In your video you say that you didnt expectes much from this conditioner because it only costs 2.99$.Doea that mean that in order to buy a good conditioner you should expect to pay a lot of money? Isnt there a better more economical alternative? Thanks in advance! @itscurlypenny
I tried the avocado smoothing treatment. My hair HATED it. It made it all crunchy.
Thank you for reviewing this!!! I was wondering about it. On the video, like you said, not much of a difference depending on the way you use it. It'll be a pass for me. I like Maui moisture better.
