Hi Lonnie, thank you for another beautiful video. You really are a true hero, and an inspiration to thousands of people, and I never tire of watching your videos and learning. I almost ended up some years ago homesteading in a place called Telegraph Creek in British Columbia...it didn,t happen at the time, but I spend all my spare time out in the woods here in east Anglia UK, And I do like spruce tea and Pine needle tea...made some pine tea a couple of days ago. I hope Connie gets well from her cold...take care and kindest wishes to you both.
Hello, Lonnie & Connie; Thank you for all you do. Thank you, this looks like a great fire when you don't need a big or long fire. I've seen a video where a scotch eye auger (1" dia?) is used to bore 2 holes in log section. 1 in the center of the top (~6"-8" deep) & 1 in the side into the top hole. Start your fire in the bottom 1st but both starts faster (I think). I know-I'm late to the party, sorry. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
You are living the dream, Lonnie. I like your videos for two reasons, educational, and therapeutic. My sincere hope Connie has full recovery, and once again, is with you in the Alaskan bush enjoying life to the fullest.
I miss my dad he passed away 10 years ago. I've always wanted to make a trip to Alaska to see where my dad lived. thanks for your videos. love your show..
Lonnie. You are for my taste, best youtube can offer. Best of all is you true humanic face... You live an amazing life. Some day, i will cycle to Alaska just to vist you. You bring an incredible journey of wilderness itself into our hearts and minds. You are absolutely king of RUclips. And Alaska is with you my new, warm and cosy home! Thank you from the deepest part of my heart!
I can't believe I haven't found your channel sooner. I get so much enjoyment from watching you and your knowledge of the woods and life in general. thank you for sharing so much.
I'm glad there are people that know this kind of thing that are willing to share it. Things are getting ugly these days, little thing like what this guy shows you could save your butt.
Lonnie its customary to bathe the nettles in quick hot water bath to clear the initial stringent bitters, like 3 second flash of boiling water, then put them in to soak.... your stomach will thank you later; this video instruction is great will save a life some day! THX!
Those are great little torches. Nice to make two of them so you can have a skillet on one and a pot with your side dish on the other or maybe a pot of coffee. A two burner stove!
Another great one! Thank you. Learning so much. Aaaaahhhh, liquid Alaska. My wife collected spruce tips this summer and added it to Apple cider vinegar. I use that in my tea too.
Love it - beautiful scenery as always - the snow looks awesome. Great torch - burned out just like it should. Hope your wife gets better soon. God bless.
lonnie's voice and that music for the first couple minutes... is this a bed time story? far north is definitely my fav bc&s channel. sincerely christian anarchist
Hi Lonny thank you for the video of the Log stove I really enjoy watching you make all the things and doing all the survival skills its helping some one who has the abilities in them to not be afraid to step out and conquer their fear
Thanks for that Lonnie, I've seen sweedish fire torches but never really seen one made so I learnt something. Can't guarantee I'll get out and make one in the snow as it's summer here so I am more likely to be swimming instead. The ocean is about 22 degrees celcius at the moment (77 F) and we have a fire ban but as soon as it gets a bit cooler I will give it a go. Hope Connie is feeling better.
The way you demonstrate that stove makes me think of it as something a person would purchase in a store. I'm surprised someone hasn't marketed that like bottled water is. One thing that I've found that always works for me in killing a cold that has just started or I suspect I'm catching is the juice of one lemon in about 16 ounces of water. I'll gargle with it while sipping and drinking it. I try to get it into my nasopharynx while gargling. Seems the nasopharynx is where a cold takes root and breeds. Seems like it's been a while since I've watched one of your videos. Even though I've never met you face to face, I think of you as a friend. Thank you for your videos, I enjoy them greatly.
This was an awesome video, Lonnie - I like how you demonstrated multiple things simultaneously here. The spruce tea looked like it just hit the spot, & the log stove looked really cozy in that frozen forest right about that time of dusk (man, that log stove is such a cool discovery!) The additional music was perfect too. Hope you two are well.
I've not watched many if your videos, but I've noticed the little mistakes you make, you rectify very quickly and easily. That's experience and that's why I like your videos. Thank you.
Lonnie, I have to agree 100% with the comment of the guy below. You really are the king of the RUclips. The way you talk and the way you teach is amazing. My 17 years old boy and my wife are forcing me to take a vacation in the winter times to do at least 10% of what we learned with you, and I tell you something, we have enough knowledge now for a 30 days into the woods practicing what you taught us. Thank you Thank you Thank you. By the way, where did you buy that hand saw??? God bless you !
You are the bomb, Lonnie! Thank you for for sharing yourself with us! You are unique in your presentation, and such a relief from the self seriousness, and tactical overload presented by other channels.
My wife and I flew into a Kansas city airport a couple years ago. Wow some mighty flat country there. I kept looking out the airplane window for some mountains or at least some hills. It felt a little strange being there for this Alaskan. I have talked to Kansans who have relocated to Alaska and they feel weird here being surrounded by mountains.
Great video, Lonnie. I'm sending it to my brother right now. He's got a cabin out in BC. I find your videos informative, entertaining, & just a pleasure to watch. Thanks for posting.
One of my favorite fires for small and lasting, My other is say a sardine tin filled with a roll of corrugated cardboard then soaked in candle wax, then left to harden. A ready to go fire in your pocket. Great video once again sir and crew, lol.
Lonnie, it's way colder in Alaska than in Quebec! The lakes are not even frozen yet. Loved the background with the mountain behind... reminds me the beauties of Alaska. Hey! congratulation for your 100 000 ! More to come!
I haven't been subscribed to you for that long but watching your videos are very calming and enjoyable, not to mention how useful these skills can be, appreciate these videos alot!
Three years ago I made a stove like this with a chainsaw, I took it to the Boy scout camp. It was a learning experience for the boys and adults as well. Your version needs no chain saw. Thumbs up. Hope the wife feels better soon.
Watching your videos is very relaxing, thank you. That one worked beautifully. I think your shaping the chimney is the key. I liked how you can move it, I never would have thought to.
