Were it me, I would have edited the video just a bit with a nice deep scratch and sound effects from that Xacto knife and pretend not to notice. The comment section would be glorious... lol Awesome video !!
Awesome mixer, but what an awesome spectrum analyzer!! Can you do a video on that analyzers internals, digitizing..? I would love to see how that instrument is storing the scans... hmm at that era it had to be expensive in components
Black magic in the microwave realm! Are you studying Engineering? I’m about to quit… want to play radio …. Quartus Prime FRPGA project presently making me very 😔. Thanks for this content!
Thank you so much for this video. If possible I would like to ask a question. It's facinating you have this knowledge of these multiplexers , multipliers that work on RF. I too am interested in catching up with such. Could you pls recommend a book that has this knowledge?
How much those devices like the frequency counter, spectrum analyzer, etc cost you for this lab? I want to build one but when i search it cost damn too much so perhaps you could give me an estimate
Microwave stuff isn't cheap. $1k-3k for a cheap surplus HP analyzer that goes to 20 GHz or so. 141T analyzers like he has go for $400-$1000 but are getting pretty old and fussy. $500-$1500 for a microwave counter good to 26 GHz.
What is the Texas Instruments board that you are using? (Appears to be a TI Lauchpad...?) Maybe like this? www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/EK-TM4C123GXL/3996736
Love your videos, your channel is sure to grow if you keep these up. I'm planning to start playing with mixers and learning about them with the plan for making a portable 220 radio with a mixer, lo and one of those Chinese special "FM VHF/UHF HT" boards. With a filter and such ofc. Have you worked with the ADE-1? I bought one on a PCB I'm planning to experiment with using an SDR as the LO. I would love to collaborate with you on a future video if your interested. I have a lot of fun with SDR and your channel hits the spot when it comes to moving to working with the hardware end of radio. If interested you can best contact me on website you'll find linked from my channel page.
Awesome practitioner of the black arts. Kudos for the adept use of vintage test gear to boot! Love yr enthusiasm keep up the good work maaate!
Use a pencil for a pointer, the xacto knife is making us nervous specially when pointing at the SA's graticule :)
Nice video !
Also the tip actually warps the trace a little bit if it gets too close as it's slightly magnetized ;). Cheers!
I came to make this same comment. I can’t hear what you’re saying when the blade gets too close! =‑)

Fantastic video. Thanks!
Great video, very real and life like. No pretense!! cool
Customized duplexers, filters, LC filters, power dividers, dual channel filters, design
Negotiate prices based on indicators
thank you

Oustanding!
it is a nice project and nicely designed board. it this possible to know from where did you get your PCBs made?
That coax cable looks like teflon so velocity factor isn't 0.66.
Odd that the calculation came out correct then, isn't it?
It didn't look like there was solder paste on the center pad.
Wow!
Can you share the design files for the PLL board. I'd like to build one myself. I use Kicad or Altium designer. Thanks.
Knife as pointer...hmmm...brave...?
Tech skills are so cool ! By now you have learned years more, and have built also DIY meter that reaches 15 Ghz ? :)

nice video regards pa3dee
cheers! glad you enjoyed the video :)
get the knife away from hp spectrum analyser
i have many equations about this
can you give me your email please???
