I still make these we had these as kid and 60 now still do but did different seasonings and we were poor people and still are and was made fun called trash for eating this and just think we wore used clothes and bought used everything and now it's big money deal now. It's amazing how when some people do it so great but when you do it's not. But we still do eat this way and never will change great reciep.
This is supposed to be something new? My mother also made these, using hamburger buns, not bread. With five kids to feed, she had to make a pound of hamburger go a long way!
My Dad made these for us when i was a kid. Called them Charlie specials. Seasoning was a bit different. So Good. Thanks' for bringing it back
We used to make these back in the late sixties, we call them open faced hambergers. We used half a hamberger bun for each one. We didn't go to the extreem of mixing all that other stuff into them. 8 buns would make 16 open faced hambergers. you could put whatever you wanted on them after they were cooked.

No salt or black pepper (stopped using salt 27 years ago and I hate black pepper)
Roasted garlic to taste (I love garlic)
Red onions
My favorite lactose free cheese (lactose intolerant). It's garlic and herb and I get it at the local butchery
I cook it a smidgen longer and put the cheese on a lil later. I only eat meat well done, that's why I adjust cook time differently.
Should try buttering one side of the bread. Even better with a garlic butter, imo. It's absolutely delicious!!

Lifelong allergy to mushrooms
For the last 32 years (since I was 15) I've been allergic to fruit, eggs, and lactose intolerant. How I got allergic to those things growing up on a farm is beyond me.
Also have partial anosmia (born with it, *A* side effect of my hormone disorder) and I also have ARFID. Have deep rooted texture issues with food. As far as I know, I've had it my entire life as well.

A tip is, do the toast with meat like 5-6 minutes in the oven, then take them out, do the cheese on it and for another 5-6 minutes then the meat is very good even in the middle. When u do it like in the video, i think (because i did this failure when i first time made this) the meat is not properly cooked and taste not so good.

Du wirst es vielleicht nicht glauben, aber ich mache diesen Toast schon seit vielen Jahren so. Einziger Unterschied: Ich verwende frischen Knoblauch und kein Knoblauchpulver.
Den frischen Knoblauch nimmst du bestimmt zum Schluss sonst verbrennt er oder ?
@@akyro1000In dem Mett ist es egal. Da verbrennt er nicht. Ich mische ihn gepresst einfach unter die Masse. Wenn man ihn in der Pfanne anschwitzt, sollte man allerdings aufpassen, dass er nicht braun wird, denn dann wird er bitter.

The juices from the meat would make the bread soggy. It wouldn't toast like that if it was properly cooked.
I thought that also. Maybe they use sirloin,90/10 which has very little grease. Plus healthier for you. Especially if your diabetic like I am.

Basically what we have here is a toasted cheese sandwich with a layer of raw meat.
I get your point, but the meat wasn't raw when she sliced it. However, it also couldn't brown the meat properly when it was covered in cheese. Browning gives flavor to the meat.

Ich rösten das Brot vorher an dann Kräuterbutter drauf dann Mett frische Zwiebeln und mit mittelalten Gouda überbacken oh auf das Mett 2 Scheiben Tomaten Tomaten gewürzt.
