Tbh, I would have taken the child but , having left him with a friend, I would not expect the friend to call me and demand I come and get him after one incident of bad behaviour under those circumstances. Being a mum herself I would expect her to realize that the child may be unsettled at being left behind and I would expect her to try to deal with the situation. If the bad behaviour continued then fair enough you do not have to put up with that. Trying to get money from her was wrong though.
This is why I don’t watch ppls kids, it’s just an easy way for parents to point the finger if something happens and an easy way to get outta their responsibilities of watching their own kids. I'm glad her mother didn't die because that would've been awful that she wasn't able to see her. The plaintiff may have lost the case, but she wins in life by losing her neighbor as a "friend." The neighbor is a user and was going to find any reason not to babysit. She could've let Mom talk to her son over the phone & if that didn't work, ask Mom to arrange for someone else to pick up her son. The Mom found someone else to keep him, so she had other options. For those saying Mom should've taken him with her, please understand if he is too young to be at the hospital, she would've needed childcare while on her trip & that may be with strangers. She probably thought it's better to leave him with people he's familiar with & he can still go to school 3 of the 5 days. When her neighbor offered, that was great because the neighbor has a child around the same age, is taking her child to the same school, & if the child needs something, he is close to home.

I do think the defendant was insensitive to the plantif. Who can't handle a 7 or 8 year old.who plays with your child. I think the defendant played hard rules too. Soon, she was insensitive to the little boy, was suddenly placed in her care and couldn't talk to his mother There is something else going on. Do unto others as you would like them to do. Unto you. The defendant may need the plantif to watch her son.in an emergency. I dare say. The little boy wasn't even ķicking her seat in an angry way. Children react to emotional situations in different ways. Apparently the plantif had never talked to her son about emergencies. Anyway tit for tate. Hope the mothers can get over this and talked to both sons.so their friendship won't be destroyed. The Judge never asked how the PLANTIF'S mother was doing. It was clear the plantif was about to cry but I think she was wrong to sue the defendant. Maybe they should have talked it over. Also in some cases of emergency an airline may get reduced price. If the mother had passed as sad as it would have been, there is bereavement fare. Parents should always have someone they can depend on in an emergency but you don't wait until.the emergency, you put that in place early and have a back up plan. Airline tickets are not cheap, especially at the last minute. This didn't have to have gone to court I wish judge Mathis son would be quiet. I honestly feel. The defendant was wrong to bail out, knowing the situation. I had a similar experience, I was told by a child that he was told that better not put my hands on him, I told him that I would beat him behind and the person that told him that foolish, when the parents came I told them what was said right in front of the child, and the child was straightened out right there and then, I don’t watch a child I can’t correct when they do or say something wrong, if I let them rule me then they don’t need anyone to watch them. She’s selfish and should have called the mom explained the situation and let the mother speak to the son. Once the mother let him know that he had to be obedient to her. Not back out of the whole arrangement. She had to know that this would cause so many problems.
I thought she was selfish too at first until I recalled having been in that situation myself before. The mother got on the phone who was already out of town and told the kid to behave or else. It lasted about one hour and the same ole same ole. She had to end her trip early because he just wouldn't obey either one of us. I figured she was so upset she didn't even want to consider the child would obey his mom because like all mom's do I'm she she told him to behave upon leaving and he just did as he pleased. The way that woman was acting the kid was about to sent to the police station or just sat outside until his mother came back.

When you call a friend back from a family emergency and claim a minor issue, you didn't want to do it. Also she didn't try to talk with the boy who's mom just left him because her way of talking is with her hands. Any mother should know that any sudden changes with their childrens way of life will cause them to act out because they are not yet capable to come to terms with turmoil. The trick is to change their minds, trick them at that exact time into another thought or situation. That's my opinion.

The Defendant quick-fast calls the Plaintiff…She can’t handle a child? My ol school thoughts kicked in…my neighborhood was a village. In that village, children went to each others home but were disciplined, if needed, by the parents there. The child was then escorted home to his/her parent to get disciplined once again. You didn’t have your way at home or elsewhere. You got handled to. The Plaintiff shoulda took her son with her.

This is not a legal matter per say but a social one. Having children growing up together is a good things and for 5 years the kids you and you know them. Irreparable of whether an offer or not. I had a similar experience, I was told by a child that he was told that better not put my hands on him, I told him that I would beat him behind and the person that told him that foolish, when the parents came I told them what was said right in front of the child, and the child was straightened out right there and then, I don’t watch a child I can’t correct when they do or say something wrong, if I let them rule me then they don’t need anyone to watch them. No one is obligated to watch or take care of your kids, it don’t matter if you in space that’s your child come get them. Now if she would have disciplined her child then it would’ve been a different story. Evidently something is troubling about the child if she was calling around for hours and not 1 person would watch him.

She’s selfish and should have called the mom explained the situation and let the mother speak to the son. Once the mother let him know that he had to be obedient to her. Not back out of the whole arrangement. She had to know that this would cause so many problems.
I thought she was selfish too at first until I recalled having been in that situation myself before. The mother got on the phone who was already out of town and told the kid to behave or else. It lasted about one hour and the same ole same ole. She had to end her trip early because he just wouldn't obey either one of us. I figured she was so upset she didn't even want to consider the child would obey his mom because like all mom's do I'm she she told him to behave upon leaving and he just did as he pleased. The way that woman was acting the kid was about to sent to the police station or just sat outside until his mother came back.
Oh yeah, she should have paid. The defendant is totally in the wrong. A freaking 7 yr old has a temper tantrum 😱 like a 7 yr old has never had one. She acts so upty, but she could have handled the problem with him so much better. Give me a break. She definitely didn’t really want to watch him, and she just changed her mind.

It should be 50/50, crappy defendant couldn’t supervise the kid and made the plaintiff come back home knowing she was on her way to the airport. Plaintiff watched her dog for free and we all know the cost of overnight boarding has significantly increased so she saved her a lot of $$$. Defendant is not someone to have as a friend nor neighbor, and especially wouldn’t want her has a relative.
I'm a mom. I don't baby sit other people's kids. And i don't leave my kids with other ppl. Grandma only 😂 i understand allot of ppl don't have family nearby to watch their kids

When you call a friend back from a family emergency and claim a minor issue, you didn't want to do it. Also she didn't try to talk with the boy who's mom just left him because her way of talking is with her hands. Any mother should know that any sudden changes with their childrens way of life will cause them to act out because they are not yet capable to come to terms with turmoil. The trick is to change their minds, trick them at that exact time into another thought or situation. That's my opinion.

My ol school thoughts kicked in…my neighborhood was a village. In that village, children went to each others home but were disciplined, if needed, by the parents there. The child was then escorted home to his/her parent to get disciplined once again. You didn’t have your way at home or elsewhere. You got handled to.

The plaintiff should have known not to ask that woman for a favor, her whole attitude on her face let's me know she's not a nice person. Only when the defendant wants something she's nice, she has typical user vibes.

Having children growing up together is a good things and for 5 years the kids you and you know them. Irreparable of whether an offer or not. At certain age child growth has some sort of things that come up and they need to be redressed. If once in a while your own kids can misbehave with you, they can for 1 reason or another do same to a babysitter.
