Maria Doyle's portray of Queen Catherine is simply amazing, she shows so much emotion and strenght. the way she walks and talks, the way she looks at Henry, even when she knows he no longer loves her, make her performance truly remarkable. A great choice, a great Irish actress as a great Spanish woman
Catherine was an absolutely amazing women... she was the true Queen on England right until her Death, the only Queen of the age adored by her people. Throughout everything that happened to her she remained honest, true, and so elegant. She was truly a daughter of Fredinand and Isabella.
I felt so sorry for poor Catherine. I deed wonder if Mary hadn't been harshly treated by her terrible father. Would she been a good queen or still the bloody Mary.
The bit where Catherine falls weeping to her knees when Henry tells her he intends to divorce her didn't actually happen. Henry didn't tell her himself (the chicken) but got the Duke of Norfolk to do it. Catherine's reply was to incline her head, calmly tell the Duke that only the Pope had the authority to rule on her marriage, and walk out like a boss XD

Unfortunately for her, all he did was piss Henry off all the more. If she had just excepted the divorce relatively quickly she would’ve ended up with the life like Anne of Cleves instead of the one she got.
I agree. Catherine was a good and loving wife who did the best she could for Henry and for England. And she kept on loving and forgiving him even though he cheated on her multiple times and flat out divorced her! And she died without being able to say goodbye to Henry or her daughter Mary.....T_T
Such a regal lady, and queen. I love this song, it played at my Husband funeral we'd been together since I was 14yrs. He died suddenly at 54....... I know they say time heals. I'm still waiting for some relief after 4 years.
You worded it so well. Many people don't realize the enormous pressures that Catherine was under. As a loyal & subservient wife, she was supposed to follow her husband's orders, as a royal princess & queen, she wasn't supposed to allow anyone to humiliate her, as a mother, she was supposed to protect her daughter's interest [right to the throne] & as a Christian, she was supposed to follow her conscience. She was balancing everything at the same time.

Katherine is the true and only queen. She was always loyal and faithful and always by his side. He hurt her in every way you can possibly hurt a person. She deserved better and had a really sad fate. Maria plays Katherine so brilliantly, full of grace and devotion. No one else could have played this role better than her. I dnt think Anne was disappointed with Elizabeth it was even Anee who declared 1 day Elizabeth would be a Great Queen. Had Anne had a boy she wld have lived, she promised the King a son after all. Anne was in love with another, happy, and content. it's her Greedy Father and Uncle that were to blame. I actually feel sorry for all the Queens. Henry was a piece of sh*t!!!
