They started sucking in 1993. In 1994 , the salary cap started. Joe Gibbs was big on keeping a team together. He retired in 1993. After the salary cap came in. They couldn't keep a team together. They made bad decision thinking Norv can pick players like Gibbs did. Norv's mistake was asking Charlie to draft simular players he had in Dallas. They picked Heath one-year and Michael Westbrook the following year. Michael had a bad temper issue. Then in 1999 Dan bought the team. Things got very bad. He hired his buddy Vinny who didn't have a clue about what he was doing. They only had 2 double digit win season under Dan. Joe Gibbs admitted. His second time around. It was hard for him. Because now players were looking for their stats to go up to get a bigger contract to play for another team because they knew the Skins were already over the cap. Paying players who didn't deserve it like Archuleta. Making him the highest paid safety at the time. These bad decisions were made by Dan and Vinny.
Yeah, but the organizational culture had never gotten as bad as it did under Dan. Plus, a 6-year stretch before Dan bought the team is nothing in comparison to a 24-year stretch of losing after Dan bought the team.
The stench has most definitely improved but to completely eliminate it, a rebrand is necessary. Until that happens there will always be a unpleasant smell.

We deserve a better name than the awful, generic one that none of us wanted. We need a brand we can be proud of and sadly Commanders will never be it for a lot of us. My family has Redskin stuff that my grandfather passed down but you will never find a piece of merchandise with Commanders on it even if we win more SB's.

I have to admit, when I first heard Hail Raisers as a name I thought it was stupid but it has grown on me a lot. Just the letters HR made out of flames on the side of the helmut would be a huge improvement over the lame W. Definitely better than Commanders.
I agree. I know it's expensive to rebrand but the longer we stay Commanders the worse it is for the fans. We feel like we have no identity because we hate the brand which makes it hard to feel good or proud to support the team. JH needs to rebrand ASAP.

Winning is the only way to remove that stench and so far, we have not done enough to compete in our own division. Doesn’t matter if it's Kenny Pickett, Russell Wilson, or Justin Fields. They are going to compete this year. Ravens, Steelers, Packers are all the same. Jordan Love is meh, but he has one of the top NFL lines. That explains the Cowboys implosion in the playoffs. Inside out. This makes me realize Adam Peters, Dan Quinn and especially Kliff Kingsbury have no clue what they are doing on offense. Inside out. Our offensive line is still garbage.
Bro, relax. I get it. Many of us as fans are suffering from PTSD because of the previous owner. How about we see how this season plays out first before we start judging whether or not AP, DQ, and Kingsbury know what they're doing or talking about history repeating itself? We're talking about cleaning up 24 years of stench and the damage done under the previous regime so we shouldn't expect success to happen overnight. I'm not looking for the team to make a run to the Super Bowl this year but the key is seeing how the team will progress moving forward. Besides, the dummies we've had who really didn't understand the fan base and at the same time took advantage of its loyalty are the ones who lost two thirds of the fan base on their watch. At least now we have adults in the room so I believe we have a legitimate chance to have success and I doubt it can be any worse.
