Love, love, love Belle Époque. And it looks fantastic in the collections Sarah Raven uses it in in her collections. But which one to choose? There is that richly louche one, or there is that pretty pale one, and the very deep coloured one, and then there's that wonderful scented one, and … and … and … Looks like I'll be living on bread and Bovril for a while if I give in and buy all the collections I covet! If, browser, you have just happened on Sarah Raven and her fabulous eye for colour and shape and the way she blends (but by no means blands) these into collections of bulbs and other flowering plants then do your garden a huge favour and look at her catalogue each year and choose whatever you can afford. I've found the quality of what she sells to be every bit as good as her eye for garden design and cut flower arrangement. With most garden catalogues I tend just to go through looking for a specific plant, or browse ticking those that look interesting in a very practical frame of mind. But I almost drool over Sarah Raven's beautiful catalogue. This is partly because she has such excellent and out of the ordinary plant choices. But mostly it's because of the way she offers them in carefully selected mixtures that work beautifully together, the colours and shapes complementing or contrasting to make a harmonious - or deliberately shocking - mix so that you don't have to worry about choosing for yourself. (Though you can also choose individual varieties if you prefer to create your own collections.) If you think this comment is just some sort of advertising puff,, or I've been given freebies for writing it, you would be quite wrong. I have no connection whatever with Sarah Raven or the company, nor have I ever had any. I'm just a happy customer who has been delighted with what I've bought in the past for myself and as presents for others. I would simply like to spread the word about Sarah Raven among other gardeners to share my delight. Do, please, look at her extraordinarily beautiful catalogue. And drool.
Lovely...the tulips and the beautiful garden. Your one is very well named and I'm going to treat myself to some of them for a 'lasagne' pot for my front doorstep!. Keep on making videos Sarah cause you're a natural.
Fascinating stuff. All I know about tulips is that I have a few red ones that come up each year - I didn't realise what a variety there was! I'll certainly be adding a few more varieties for next year! Thanks x
What's the name of that huge pink orange tulip you excluded, it's so amazing, the massiveness took my breath away. I live in sunny California USA, so maybe my taste is effected by that. Adore the Sarah Raven too, love dark richness, but I haven't found it across the pond.
Amazing display! I don't agree with you on the Marilyn Monroe mix. The pink and orange are one of my favorite color combinations. The "orange" ones stand out a bit, but so did she. Without them I think it is a softer combination you might name after your mother. When did Marilyn Monroe ever say less is more?
Fabulous enthusiasm. Perfect watching on a wet Saturday in summer. I'm now planning ....

Do you ship your tulips to the USA? I really love the one that is named after you. It's stunning.
Thank you!
