I Love it! I haven't had a chance to reach out to you yet, but you figured it out, that is awesome! This seems to be a little known secret out there!

Oh these are already flashed Bios chips you are just replacing them out, that works too. But you can definitely just flash the bios yourself with an EEPROM READER. You can flash even nonreplaceable BIOS Chips that are soldered on.

@@evocatiproductions Yes you can, this is just other way of doing it.

@@LuumiJuhani Yup! And it works great, definitely less work to do especially on replaceable EEPROM Boards. A lot of these newer boards unfortunately have unreplaceable chips, so in those cases flashing them yourself or sending them in for RMA is your only option. Still most people don't even know this is an option, awesome video!

you could try using an external flasher too (such as EVC2, which is much more than just a SPI flasher). Also, converting to dual bios would be good too. Idea: get a dip8 to dual dip8 adapter with 1 slight modification: needs 1 leg to be switchable. That's the one determining whether if the chip is used or not. Only 1 leg difference.

If this is something that happens to you often, maybe you should consider reading the the BIOS from the chip itself, once successfully flashed, with something like an Arduino (or any compatible micro controller with the required electronic circuitry) and saving it to a file. That way, you would be able to recover from a crash without relying on eBay sellers, or an external suppliers.

Nah, this is the only time it happened. Main reason is the lack of dual bios and flashback.

What were the mobos doing with corrupt bios? I have a mobo here that will restart after cpl secs of pressing pwr button and repeat that sequence. Its a z97 asus board with crashfree usb flash but no luck. Also, no video on screen whatsoever.

Crosshair V Formula-Z had also BIOS flashback function. And yes, Maximus IV Extreme was the first one :)

good saves. had to do this with my x299dark since i didnt have access to any PRE 10th gen CPUs and couldnt source a loaner.. the socketed bios saved my ass (and evga from an RMA) they sent me out a bios chip with the correct 10th gen bios on it and i was up and running. took a few days but its not that big a deal. socketed bios should be on ALL high end mobos. and im kinda pissed thez490dark got rid of it

At least they seem to be implementing CPU-less bios flashing across the whole range of boards, so the cpu generation/bios version issues shouldn't require an RMA anymore. Their z370 boards probably had so many RMAs for old bioses.

    Greetings,
I have a new ASUS ROG STRIX Z390 - E Gaming and in some moment in the win10 update final, when I put the MAINBOARD support DVD, something happens with the video, (resolution changes, no supported by my hdmi monitor, I suppose) Thenk, trying to fix the resolution to finish the job (restarting Windows) somehow the win10 update did something with the BIOS; and NO MORE POST, no Q-LEDS, only power on, fans spining, lights everywhere in memory, in the mainboard (a gaming board) but, nothing in the hdmi monitor. I'd try CMOS battery remove, including the short between the - and + socket pins, the CMOS two pins short, put BIOS update in USB to try a miracle with Cashfree BIOS 3 (nothing of crashfree) The board totally NEW is dead....
some advice? Thanks for this video....

Bro, its possible run i78700k on asrock z170 extreme 4? This is worth? Another question, can you make a tutorial to overclock an i76700k with asrock uefi? Thanks a lot, great content.

i've never had such a system myself to test with, but i've always heard that people have good results twisting the Cooler before lifting.
does sound like it relies on the strength of all of the Pins but maybe that's not a problem.

    Hi Luumi,
I have a Asus B85M-g motherboard. The screen displays the usual DEL or F2 options at boot up but i'm unable to get ito the bios settings. I have tried all the usual things resest cmos etc but the issue remains. Does this indicate a corrupted bios? Is it worth replacing the Bios chip?

I believe I have bios corruption. Error: "Rom image not loaded. Rom image update failed".
I also lost two SSD's after I got this error. I'm not able to access the drives on a known working cpu with good cables. All other parts also work (ram, CPU, Power, GPU, ect) I have tried to update bios and it keeps failing. The system POSTs fine and boots to Bios. but will not load windows from a bootable USB. I have cleared CMOS as well. :(( any ideas?
Also, Germany has my heart. I lived in Hamburg for a year. Hopefully I will go back. Thusse

I'm pretty surprised that someone like you dont know and dont show how to use a programmer.
Get yourself a ch341a programmer, with the clips and 1.8v chip adapter on aliexpress!!!!
Cost less than what you paid for both bios!!!!!
