Wanted to stop by and say hello from Michigan! We saw you on Canoehound live stream last night and thoroughly enjoyed all your information and videos about canoe poling. We subscribed ! Cheers Colleen and Jonny Follow our adventures too 🇨🇦🇺🇸
I guess at some point you have to figure out the benefits/economies of poling deep opposed to paddling. And when poling deep, I would assume getting wet is inevitable too, kinda like kayaking.
I would usually just paddle with a pole if the water depth was intermittent. Rather than sit down and paddle for five minutes, just paddle with the pole. On this occasion I wanted to pole to the ocean to finish the trip as per my original plan to pole the Bonnie from source to sea... so I pole paddled. I am not that legalistic. I am a canoeist, not just a poler. :)
Great video Pal
I figure just show them! :)
I seem to remember having my canoe pole with me going up the Moose River to James Bay and actually using it... :)
and I have seen pictures. If we get through this social distancing, we must organize a pole down the rouge or something.

Nice! I want 12" of water to pole in and with a solid bottom, too.
Well you aren't that far away... get on it! I have bedrock here. It sucks!
