Wahh I'm screaming cause I'm a South Indian! Ok so let me explain. Idli - lentils and rice batter that is fermented for a day and It's steamed. Masala dosa - lentils and rice but the quantity of lentils is less than rice and that is why it's crispy. Masala is potato. Vada - lentils again with some spices and deep fried. Also there are similarities with Tamil and Korean words like amma for mother and appa for father and many more. There's so much more south indian food that you guys should try, you'll love it. ❤️
Idly == Jjinppang! TIL Jjinppang is made from fermented sourdough in maekgeolli (feremented rice alcohol) - this is very similar to Idly which is made with fermented lentils with rice mixture.. Plus, both are steamed. Not a wonder the taste is same! Also, the Korean croquettes do look much more similar to masala dosa.. Fun fact: Same mixture is used for both idly & dosa! Yet, as the dosa is fried on a pan, with butter on top, this tastes similar to the korokke dough. The potato filling with vegetables & spices are almost the same too!!
Well South Indian food is very popular all over India. My favourite one is dosa (there are many varieties in it like masala Dosa, paneer dosa, plain dosa) and vada with white coconut chutney and sambar😋😋[ I'm from east India still South Indian food has my heart💫]
