- This week I'm sharing all about the significant power of small actions and baby steps in my Holiday Vlog. We have had floods, I'm decorating my Christmas tree, visiting cosy cafés, book shops, vintage shopping, antiques as well as painting guardian angels and fairies. All the areas around where we live flooded as it had been raining so hard and so much lately. Some roads were completely impassable. I managed some studio and art time though, playing with guardian angel art and fairy paper dolls! I also share how I manage any overwhelm with one simple technique. Easy & doable!
Anyway, wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful holiday time, however you celebrate with Brightest Blessings for the New Year too. Thank you so much for watching & keeping me company THIS YEAR! I am a teacher. I was so grateful for winter break simply so I could restore order to my home. I hope for a day to bake, knit, write. These breaks are so important to my ability to keep teaching. So much goes out, it's nice to restock my "self".

Merry Christmas. Self care for me is not being afraid to say no. Being able to put my own needs before those of somebody else. It is the way I restored some balance in my life and has really improved my mental wellbeing.
Oh yes. 2023 was my year of setting boundaries. It is so freeing. I plan to continue it in 2024.

I’m bad, my Christmas tree has remained up and lit for three years now. It brings me such joy and especially during some really hard things I’ve been through … it’s part of my healing process. ❤❤❤❤
I think it’s wonderful that you ignore social convention and do what gives you joy!✨ I keep mine up longer than typical, I find them so peaceful, but I set up more light strands to keep up during the regular year.
We celebrate Yule, the Winter Solstice. We have had the tree up since late November, and we exchanged gifts Friday morning. We will also acknowledge Christmas, because of cultural pressure, so she gets to hit the tree again tomorrow morning for gifts of art supplies! I hope your Solstice was bright, your Christmas is merry, your New Year joyous, and all your winter days be warm and cozy!

Wendy we stopped at IKEA yesterday and they have two kinds of fairy lights marked down to $4.49 UDS. The one's I purchased were called Strala and they have these tiny little silver bells that tinkle if you move them. I know you would love them. I adore the fairy cut out ornaments. So fun and beautiful.
Now I want to make fairy paperdolls with my granddaughter! Thanks for the inspiration - they are beautiful! Hope you and James have a relaxing Christmas week!! 🙏❤
Blessed Solstice/Yule/Holiday, Wendy!
To answer your self care question, it starts of with a hug in a mug (coffee or tea)after taking the fur baby outside, and we get squared away with breakfast.
After that entails looking through my planner (getting the new one set up for the year). A list is made for daily tasks.
Today is repainting a sign for the "Blue Moon" property as there is a large 4 day celebration of life and Renaissance reunion leading up to the NYE celebration.
I have to stop and make time for TLC. Salt Foot Soaks and aroma therapy at night.
No Christmas tree this year, but plenty of lights.

Mondays are a “crash day” for me - I ONLY do what I feel like doing that day ( im a priest so I keep good boundaries and pace myself. ) I paint every minute i can - inside and outside- wonderful delight to paInt a beautiful sight. I love your videos- so happy and encouraging 😊

Hi Wendy! As a musician, songwriter, sound healer and artist, it’s so hard to keep my priorities straight, so from a long meditation to start every day, I take guidance on which of my creative arts to work on. I spend more time on musical endeavors and can spend many days playing my piano or guitar before songs come. Sound healing is usually a morning exercise in gratitude and / or an evening meditation, and these days I do try to record a sound bath for my channel at least once a month. Then there are the mornings that I must paint, and I can spend several days to a week working on my art journal and other pieces. I used to feel like I had to force my art, but I have made peace with only painting when there is an overwhelming need to do so. I love watching you and all your share personally and with your beautiful art. As a sensitive being, I so relate to so much of what you share. Adorable paper dolls! Thank you for all you do here. 🥰😇🧚

I never had kids and I feel the same way, but one thing that makes me feel better is volunteering. Next Christmas I will do more of that to stay busy because it helps. Also my church does a blue Christmas celebration for people feeling down and that helps. Sending hugs to you and Barry ❤

Watching your vlog was the loveliest Christmas present. I love your shoes (Mary Janes are a favorite and I have several pairs in different colors), your beautiful fairy paper dolls, your cozy new place, and seeing all the little shops. We have had lots of rain, but not enough for flooding. I was hoping for snow, but not this year. Tonight my husband and I are going to take a drive to look at all the Christmas lights which is a tradition. Just driving to the grocery store and back we saw loads on Friday night. I think our mild weather has encouraged more people to put them up. Self-care is really important to me as I have ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, and RA. I've had to learn to accept that with my low energy levels I can only do so much. Like you I do one thing at a time and try not to get frustrated by things that don't get done. I didn’t do anything Christmas wise this year. We didn’t have a tree as I’d given ours to our daughter a few years ago. Hubby ended up getting Covid this week so we just stayed home and had a day of rest. I’ve ordered a Christmas tree online in a good sale so I’ll have one for next year. I’m determined to make the holiday special even if it’s just for me in my little Spare Oom. Thank you, dear Wendy, for taking us on your shopping journey. It was lovely and just the spot of cozy I needed.
If you haven’t seen The Boy and the Heron (Studio Ghibli), it’s really good. My daughter and I went to see it a couple of weeks ago.
We do celebrate Christmas, Wendy, but, this year, just two months after my partner had a major surgery, from which she is recovering well, but is definitely still in the early period of that recovery, we decided that one of our self care practices would be to not decorate, at all, this time. Thanks for your video presence, and for this video, in particular, which is helping me to focus on gratitude at having been able to make that decision, rather than regret at "missing out." ❤

When you showed the collection of dolls I had to stop the vid and gaze at the beauty- their faces the colours!Speechless.I wish I could buy you that Kimono.Moons ago I had a blue silk kimono; I swear when I put it on my persona changed !I would glide about feeling like Bette Davis or one of those Divas, I even think my accent would chang DAHHLING!I have fairy lights everywhere alll year round.No trees anymore but fond memories of dressing the tree with my children including our own homemade angel dolls.And as a child it was my favourite thing.I have one decoration from my childhood which I treasure. Mum gave it to me .2 ceramic Angels a boy and girl and when you wind him up he goes slowly around to pretty music; they both have beautiful pursed lips and if he stops just at the right time they can kiss.I think of mum everytime,you can make a wish if the music stops and they kiss!Maybe you could make an exception and just take your first painting home?

I don't really put up a Christmas tree..but I always have fairy lights all over... even through out the year I keep them up..because, like you say they make you feel happy..and we all need that. We celebrate the holiday as a secular holiday. But I still decorate and exchange gifts. My tree has been up since the day after (American) thanksgiving. Honestly I’m already a little tired of it lol
I am retired and I try to only do one "thing" a day. Today I drove eight miles to the library (there is one closer but it has no parking and I like the country drive to another one.) I picked up some books on hold. That was it.

Usually i put the tree up day after Thanksgiving. The last three years we've been working on finishing a log home and sleeping in a 10 by 20 log dry cabin. So our Christmas tree is outside. So hopefully this summer it'll be finished, and I'll be decorating a log home. We do use a lot of twinkle lights everywhere and oil lanterns. Battery operated, we use rechargeables. Off grid, solar power. I love the soft lightening. Very peaceful here in the forest. Merry Christmas.
At this moment I´m ill and then you feel that i have to take care for yourselfs. So I get my crochet project and a big cup of thee and enjoy the quiet time.
we spent Christmas Eve/day/Boxing Day moving house which in many ways took all the pressure off me. Our kids are all grown up with their own families so all did their own thing this year. It's been great, ive had no pressure to people at all & not having the pressure to decorate for Christmas either means for the 1st time in ohh 35yrs, I haven't spent it in a low., just busied myself filling the trailer, emptying it, unpacking & spending time in my new studio and relishing being back to being able to be in there at 3am if I wanted to now that we've renovated enough of our crovie house to be able to live in it.
Our tree has been up 4 2 weeks . Me I don’t like to season push . I love to just celebrate 1 season or holiday at a time. Be here now kind of thing . We all have our own traditions which makes it fun to read and see how others celebrate. I did purchase gifts for my adult sons , grandsons n other close family members .
We put our tree(s) up in mid-November… it starts getting dark so early then, the happy lights are definitely necessary! When I take the tree down, I’ll put up some white curtain/fairy lights at our back window behind the sofa to get me through the dark nights of winter.

My home is small and since I expect no company, I do not put up a tree. If I did it would be a small tabletop one. Love all the Christmas decorations though. Wow, you have had so much rain, water all over the place. Tomorrow, Christmas day, it's supposed to be rainy here. Today was lovely, sunny, in the 60's. After the rain it will turn cooler. Merry Christmas! For holiday movies, we always watch "The Princess Bride" at Christmas. Have since the kids were little; they are now 19 and 17. One year, they didn't want it..."seen it too many times." Now they insist. 🙂

The fairy paper dolls are beautiful. One of my fondest memories as a child was being given homemade paper dolls. None of my toys except for my Barbie stand out to me except for the homemade paper dolls:-) I found them very exciting! Your poem was lovely and I really enjoyed the vintage shopping excursion. The pub was lively with glitzy blue lights and even a bit of raucous laughter. lol It was fun:-) 🧚♀

We love to watch "A Muppet Christmas Carol" for Christmas. Sometimes "Better Off Dead" an early 80's movie. This year we are considering "All Things Everywhere All at Once" as it is all about family! Or maybe Barbie? I hope you enjoy Christmas in your new home!

I always enjoy your videos. And I love your art. I have a large private space I use for a bedroom. I’d love to add an art cornered it’s busy with random stuff here and there, that needs organizing. Furniture that I need to remove or find a new spot in my living space for it to live that is more functional. Once I do this I feel I can decide where I want to get artsy. I love art and making it. I wonder how your vlogging fits into this... it seems that it may add a sense of purposefulness to the fairy steps. Sometimes doing baby steps just for myself feels less purposeful and can end in a bit of negligence on them on my part.
Wendy I want to thank you as I have before for your videos which I always enjoy. I think you and James are doing an awesome job with your new place you now call home. Time and patience is needed and before you know it you will be able to relax and enjoy it to the fullest. This year's Christmas just has an odd vibe..feeling.. has anyone else felt this way?
We normally put our tree up on Nov 1 while playing Christmas carols (a mixture of 50s-now, Michael Buble included). Our Christmas Eve/Christmas/Boxing Day food is mostly made from scratch and leftovers (especially Boxing Day). When my Mum was with us, we would go somewhere on Boxing Day to have a BBQ as she loved BBQs and going for a drive somewhere.
Your studio is very inviting. Makes me want to have many art adventures in it. Very therapeutic and inspiring watching you create.
Ohh English chips. Yum! How much are chips where you are? Twice the serving size you showed would cost 7pounds. I struggle to understand how ppl can place a ridiculous price on the humble potato chip. Making my own from now on.
I love the smell of bookstores - especially antique ones.
I walked this morning giving thanks then my 2th walk later giving thanks with my Buddy 🐕 to our village where Santa came in on a fire truck gave out gifts to the children .

There's no such lovely, interesting, vintage stores and the bookshops and cafes in boring berkeley, and oakland , CA, and your fairies were just so adorable. Thank you soooo very much!
