That OUR Shakira. You can ask any latino and I can be sure they will say 90s Shakira was the best. The lyrics and the music are awesome. Shakira was the fist cassette I bought with my own money when I was 10 yo (wasn't this album, It was "Pies Descalzos" in 1995)
@@pablopalma8019 la puya a su ex. La colaboración con la caroG, etc.... Hay por favor. Eres fanastimo. Lo verdadero fan saben comprará, y está claro que la Shakira de los 90's es la mejor versión de ella, tanto música, letra y talento.
When Shakira jumped into stradom in the 90{s she was often refered to as the "Latin Alanis" because of her voice, lyrics and music mainly pop-rock-alternative. When she published her first album in English her record lable changed her sound to fit into de "Latin Invasion" movement started by Ricky MArtin, Jlo and so on. But her first albums in English where coped with awesome lyrics and an alternative-pop-rock style
Oh, the golden years! It feels like Shakira lost her path after Laundry Service album. We all love the old Shakira and that particular style of her. Love seeing you vibing with this anthem, though.
She didn't lose her path, she just grew up. She was in her 20s in the 2000s and now she's in her 40s. Her music along with her grew up, however non shakira fans will say the old shakira was better cause they only listen to the released singles and not the actual albums which are full of beautiful poetic songs. Although some of the released singles are meh (copa vacia, me gusta)
There's great songs in the Oral Fixation albums, En Tus Pupilas, La Pared, Dia Especial, No, Las De La Intuicion, Dia De Enero, Don't Bother and Costume Makes The Clown, they're just usually not the singles, La Loba is really when she went to shit.
They used to say Shakira was "The next Alanis Morissette", so yes, the vibes are there. I grew up listening to Shakira back in Colombia, and back then I didn't know any English and I didn't know who this Alanis was, so Shakira was my introduction to Mrs. Morissette.
Americans may not know this, but Shakira started as an alternative rock artists in Latin America, and managed to evolve and continue to be relevant until today. Us Shakira fans will follow her until the end. Sorry not sorry! If you are a fan you will be a fan!
the song is about how loves blinds you, while the video is about police represion that was a big thing in Colombia in those years as per students were oppositing the last goverments as they were super conservative
One thing we loved about shakira on that time❤u can tell she uses the video as a way to make references of represion the people have to endure, not just on colombia but other latin countries Who in that moment were suffering to.❤
Please more Shakira weeks!!!! She so talent, it era was for me her best time, since that she started to be a global phenomen until now, hugs from Colombia ✌🏻🇨🇴
That song was #1 in entire Latin America and also US Billboard Latin Chart in 1998. I guess thanks to that song and album (it also has other hits), Sony Music started the idea of making her crossover to the US music market. / In those years, her sound was more pop/rock. Many compared her with Alanis Morrissette, Sheryl Crow, Meredith Brooks, etc. / In fact, Shakira used to be called "The Latin Alanis".
I wasn't gonna comment, but Joe said what I was thinking, so I've gotta back him up. Yes, Young Shakira was most definitely Latina Alanis Morrisette. and with much more hits.
This should've been "Inevitable"! You can definitely do a pre-Laundry Service Shakira Weekly top 5 (or 10 haha) with hits from her "¿Dónde están los ladrones?" & "Pies descalzos" albums
For most of her latinamerican fans this is her best era and her best album so far! You should react to the other singles from "Dónde están los ladrones?"
I just love Shakira’s older songs in Spanish!!!💚 Back in the 90s and 2000s she was HUGE in the entire Hispanic world (Spain, Latin America, and other Spanish-speaking areas in the world). Later in her career she started to sing both in her native Spanish and in English, basically to expand her fanbase in the U.S. But currently she went back to writing songs in Spanish solely, since singing in English is no longer a requisite to be famous globally (and in the US). She just sounds way better in her native tongue, and her older songs are the best example!!🫶🏼🤩
It's cool you said she had the same vibes as Alanis, becasue she absolutely did. And I agree with many latino companions, 90's shakira is artistically and musically the best. We absolutely love 90's Shakira. And I'm a proud Colombian :)
I can´t tell if Joe knew this before hand or if he's actually reacting in real time, but he is 100% about the Alanis Morissette vibes Shakira gave back in the 90s. In Latin America she was reffered to as the "Latin Alanis Morissette", mainly because of the lyrical content of her songs which was similar to those on Jagged Little Pill, but also because of her vocal delivery.
I was born two years (1996) before this song came out but it was still a thing for a long time in the 90's and early 2000's. This song brings me back to when I was 6 yo, I'm doing homework my mom and dad had just get from work and we sit together to watch some random movie that my mom rent on Blockbuster. I miss this time so much ;u;
Esta es la Shakira exitosa con su verdadero talento letra y música. Su mejor versión. Talento puro 100%, por eso es que mundo la ama, por los noventas.
All of Shakira's eras are awesome in my opinion. She's so talented and seems like such a cool, awesome person. However, I must say, this was probably my favourite era of hers and this song in particular is one of my favourites too. So good!
"For you I became a thing that doesn't know anything else than loving you". Maybe Si Te Vas by her next? Don't know the reesse date tho, definitely old Shakira tho
I loved this rock pop Shakira. First time hearing in the comments that she was considered as the Latin version of Alanis Morrisette. I could hear the similarities. Also, when I hear this song, another song comes to mind, it's OMC "How Bizarre". Back when ska music was beginning to get lots of radio airplay from different artists like No Doubt, Sublime and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
90s Shakira is the best Shakira
If she would have continued with that Shakira we wouldn’t have the Shakira we have now, known everywhere in the world.
@@merhrosales but it would still be a better Shakira. Her lyrics went to the trash once she crossover.

haha same! I was 9 when I got the cassette and played it over and over again
pies descalzos es una de mis favoritas. cuando se volvio gringa dejo de gustarme.
We loved her in Spain too, I was in love with her vibe and music
I can confirm this!
I don’t speak Spanish at all but this song and “Estoy Aqui” are my favourite of Shakira’s
Estoy aquí, queriéndote, ahogandome entre fotos y cuadernos, entre cosas y recuerdos que no puedo comprender 🎶
Oh absolutely, and I would add "Ojos asi" as well 👌👌

No. Oral Fixation/Fijación Oral are great añbums! She “lost her path” with “She Wolf” but is a great album too, well produced

yeah that fall was an actual real accident that happened and they kept it in the video cause it fit with the script, she hit the floor hard.
Shakira has mentioned before that Alanis and Dolores (The Cranberries) were an inspiration to her
When Shakira falls in the jail, that was a real fall, she really stumbled but they liked it so much they left the scene in the video
I loved 90' Shakira so much
This is so good!! She gained so much popularity with this song, and album!! But still, "Pies Descalzos" is going to be her best album of all time.
