I feel like Charjabug was the true new meta pokemon that actually managed to go under radar for a long time since its community day Cradily was about to break in now too but Poliwrath happened and now Annihilape
Regarding counter or Icy wind/Ice punch? I mean Counter users will always be everywhere, Cradily is still a great pick if the other 2 mons offer it coverage
Having these beyond the hype videos makes me respect and like you so much more. Wayyy too many people rely on hype and hype alone. A full analysis is what will really help. It's certainly more practical as well as efficient. I admit i was actually falling for the hype for origin dialga and palkias new moves and their effects but once that hype died down and i thought more clearly about them, they seem the furthest thing from practical and efficent. You're probably still better off buying one extra premium item. Anyways i personally think annihilape could perform better in ultra. I'd love to see an analysis for it in that league! Given how the meta is for gl, i do agree poliwrath is the better option. In ultra though virizion is still fairly useful so annihilape could be safer there. I don't have one made for gl but I'm working on one for ultra and eager to try it out!!
I've been trying out Annihilape today and it's been an effective closer for me. The best pairing I've found for it is Shadow Alolan Sandslash (with Shadow Claw). It's an anti-flyer that can also counter other ghosts, which Annihilape struggles against. And then Annihilape is a good anti-fighter to cover for Sandslash's double weakness.
@@jraigdne I had Alolan Sandslash in the lead (Shadow Claw*, Ice Punch, Drill Run), Skeledirge on safe swap (Incinerate, Disarming Voice, Shadow Ball), and Annihilape as the closer (Counter, Ice Punch, Shadow Ball). It took me from the 2500s to the 2900s, but I haven't hit Legend yet. The team is ABA weak to ground, so you may want to replace Skeledirge with Sableye or something else. I ran Skeledirge because it's been my favourite safe swap this season.
I’m sure it’ll be a much stronger mon once it gets access to its signature ghost-move (Rage Fist) during a future Comm Day, which would probably be cheaper than Shadow Ball
Ok a couple of points so far: One, it's not as "glassy" as you make it out to be. Its bulk is comparable to Swampert and Sableye, so unless you face a direct counter you're not going to feel squishy. Moreover it has a great hp stat, meaning as long as shields are in play it's about as bulky as Poliwrath vs. quick moves, while hitting way harder with counter. Your theory on 1800s not being a good stat product unless you have a crazy moveset does not hold, as the before mentioned Sableye has 2 mediocre charge moves in FP and Return and Swampert also has to choose between EQ and SW which are both mediocre too, as well as running mud shot which is only as good as the moves it charges, otherwise being a mediocre move as well. Second, the reason NS/CC is ranked higher than what pvpoke suggests is because of NS baiting and pvpoke guaranteeing shields on baits, not because CC is better, as evidenced by IP/CC being way lower in both record and average. No need to invent things that aren't there. Third, what you define "hunting Annihilape" I define "team aba weak to Azu". No pokemon is going to perform if you put it in a shitty lineup. 22:48 CC does 55% to Wiggly. You wouldn't have taken it out and you definitely don't one shot with it. 23:45 Anni wins vs. Whis straight SB in 1s and straight IP in 2s. Not with your IVs ofcourse. 32:14 Foul Play is neutral on Anni
Honestly, sirfetch debuted in the top 5 or at least top 10 in every league (for master in premier) when it came out and look where its at now 😅 I think it will happen again with annihilape
I will say though something Annihilape has in its favor is its Ghost-typing. Sirfetch'd being pure Fighting doesn't really do it much defensively (and it's also pretty glassy too) so I think that also had a lot to do with why you don't really see it much anymore. Being double resist to Counter and Body Slam is big, and not being completely stone walled by common Fighter answers is also great. I feel like it just has a lot more going for Sirfetch'd in general, and while I don't see it living up to the massive hype for now at least in GL, I think it will always be something to look out for.
Ngl I very much enjoy this pokemon. It also feels like a weaker version of Medi since it's stat prod isn't as good, but it just dunks on every other counter user. Haven't checked, but you should also be able to beat Deoxys with it since u 2x resist the counters and u have shadow ball. No it's not broken, but that's a good thing. Also, and this is just my personal preference but I genuinely prefer running into Annihilape than Poli. Scald/Icy Wind is just too annoying to play against. The fact Annihilape dunks on Poli will for sure lower it's usage.
I f-ing hated the rotation last week. Lost like 300 elo cuz the stupid fantasy cup and I got it all back yesterday. Been running into a couple annihilapes but they’re a little squishy compared to other fighters.
I feel it needs a defense move that raises its defense and it should get access to shadow punch. Maybe even get shadow claw. But a defense raise move would help it out for sure
I use shadow a-slash with Sclaw in lead then non shadow gligar and annihilape (iceP & Sball) and i got consistent 3-4win sets. I just try to not let hard counters not see annihilape and non shadow gligar can tank some moves too that helps. But maybe its also cuz im in like 2500 elo so yea idk…
It unfortunately doesn’t learn Icy Wind or Triple Axel in the main series games, so it won’t be able to recieve them in Pokémon GO. It does have some other cool options for the future though. Dig, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Seed Bomb, Acrobatics and Overheat are all on the table
Tested it myself and I found it played best as an anti-fighter with ice punch shadow ball, but poli would be better if you wanted to use it as a fighter
Let see Zyonic, Junkrs, Home Slice Hanry who by the way swears to the Pokemon God's that this mons is crazy good am that takes down Licktng in the 0 shields! LOL Pvpoke says no... I feel like once the new season starts it will get a move updated, hopefully better fighting charge moves and its signature ghost move, maybe a buff to nightslash too
I think Annihilape has more play in the Ultra League, but there's stiff competition, and most of its weaknesses are meta in Ultra League, namely Giratina and Cresselia.
It took years of nerf attempts to finally get medicham to a reasonable level of usage, and now you want to immediately buff it again by making ice punch better?
@@DanOttawaPOGO oh, thanks. One other question, I’m stuck at around 1800 yellow, I have been using a team, but can’t tell if it is good, Jellicent, with surf, shadow ball.Umbreon, just foul play. Azumarill not XL, ice beam. Out of the second two, which should I double move? If this team is good.

100% agree, I climbed to my first Legend using charjabug last season. I was so hyped

the trick was...I'm low rank hehehe (14 currently)
Cant think of a single mon that completely walls this thing’s moveset. Most of its “counters” are annihilape’d by shadow ball.
Annihilape is quite good. Been beating even double charm teams.
You guys just wait till porygon 2 has its rise,

what would be classed aa a good moveset so i know what to look out for whats the difference between Blaziken and Lurantis
I tried using it in UL with pvpoke’s recommended moveset and I dropped a bunch of elo. I couldn’t figure out how to make it work successfully.
In UL I had a little more success with night slash instead of ice punch. It can wreak havoc if it gets the boost too.
Love the in-depth analysis man hype trains can blur the truth... Solid mon but i agree piliwrath reigns supreme until that scald nerf comes inevitably
annihilape is really good for countering vigoroth too
Only saw one ape yesterday. I was using your DD, Umbreon, gligar team, and the Umbreon beats the ape in the zero shield
