A pilot is the first episode of a series.

@@joshuaserrato3495 No. Pilot is a "testing" episode produced to get approval (or denial) from TV company. Sometimes, the pilot is aired as the first episode. Desperate Housewives has its own pilot (you can find it here on RUclips) with different actors for some roles. But, as Putt-Putt said, this espidode is titled "Pilot", even when it's not.

@@nethardel4377 I’m aware of what a pilot is. But from a viewer perspective it’s a common practice to title the first episode of a TV series the “pilot” regardless of if it’s the original pilot or not.
