It tells the story of many of us, and it puts the right words to it, what we couldn't say back then, what we went through years ago, while we were seeing it all fall apart, when we thought that the "spark of love" was not real, or not what they told us in the movies. We were losing hope somehow as well. We just wanted it all to be OK and we wanted to be back into the normal again...

today, december 24th 2022, christmas, after years of livin seperatedly, my parents decided to divorce. I thought id be okay at first since ive alr expect this, but didnt know itd be this soon. as im typing right now while listenin to this on repeat, my eyes shed couple of tears, and this song hits to close. i thought itd be okay, but it didnt. idk why im sad even tho i knew this would happen, but ive always hated goodbyes, i knew my family was fallin apart but i couldnt do anything, i just hope all this pain would end, but they never did.

I remember a time where I would've super connected with this song, but after a couple years I saw they were happier. And the happier they were, the less abuse I took, which definitely made me feel a lot better...
Not everyone's gonna have the same story, and regardless of that this song is definitely going to connect with so many people of multiple generations. This song is so important. Thank you to Simple Plan for making a song like this for those that need it. 💜
I first heard this song when I was on a subway on my earphones. I was trying not to cry the entire duration of the song. It sucks how relatable this song is.

This is what i always loved about SP...they talk about real problems, this is why they are still relevant to this day because people resonate with their music.
My parents are together to this day, but the parents of one of my closest friends split when we were in elementary school. I imagine this is what they felt like for years, even though their parents never hated each other the way I've heard about other parents hating each other after the divorce.
I wasn’t even two when my parents separated so I never knew what it was like before, however I still felt the consequences, caught up in all the arguments for years afterwards, living in two families, brothers on one side, sister on the other, having to explain to them why my siblings aren’t theirs etc, it was exhausting. And all I remember feeling was that I don’t fully belong anywhere. Sometimes I still don’t.
Although my parents didn't separate, I always wish they would've. I don't know how different my life would be but now my mom has passed and my biological father is no longer in my life. I really think the story would've been different for my mom if she would've left him.
This was me growing up. But, the song doesn’t hit me because of “my” past. It hits me because it makes me wonder if that’s how my 6 year old son feels. He seems happy and ok with everything (FYI, there wasn’t no big falling out, it was all mutual. We’re still friends and get along) but, I wonder if deep down this is how he really feels?
This simple plan song reminds of the Sum 41 song, Never There 🥺
I think this will hit hard for anyone whose parents have separated, no matter the age you were.

Yeah. I had a time where I thought that my parents would divorce, because they fought so often (even in front of me), but they stayed together. It still brings back hurtful memories

I'm lucky enough to have grown up in a house with my parents together, but I had many friends who's parents split up, and this is easily the best song about the pain that my friends experienced. The song brings me to tears regularly and I can feel the pain in the lyrics. You guys seem to know exactly how we all feel at many different points in our lives. Don't stop guys. I play bass by the way if you guys are looking! 😀

I can relate to this song, I'm part of a broken family.
This song reminds me of a dying friendships. Hear me out, this reminds me of two friends that dislike each other. But you appear to be both of them. You are stuck in the middle of them. It can be how you feel when two of your friends dislike eachother but yet you spend time with each other, without the other. That dying friendship feeling. You do two separate things with each one. "It's like you live in two houses, two bedrooms, two seperate lives" and you want to go back to "one" or being whole again

Me and her mother dont get along now like how it used to be. It makes me sad thinking that one day . this will be my daughter's song about her life.
My folks split up when I was high school so I was fortunate enough to not have to live two lives as many have, but I can see they’re both strangers to each other now. Sure it hurts sometimes but in my heart I know it’s for the best. For both of them.

I can really relate to this song i dont have just two houses two different lives two different bedrooms but i got three, long story short my mom got pregnant on her teenage of course they never married and i got adopted and now I'm going home to home every holidays to three different families..

I left and I can’t ever get rid of the guilt. It was unhealthy bordering on abusive. But kids just want a family. But I knew she would have suffered if I stayed and I would have suffered too.
Kids wants a *happy* family. I remember at 14yo I wanted (not really but you'll get it) my parents to split because it was unbearable at home. But I never *really* wanted it to happen. Only wanted them & us kids to finally be happy. Even if it meant they would split. But it still doesn't mean I actually wanted them to do it.. I hope you understand what I mean and I didn't confuse you
As much as I hated two houses, I'm glad they didnt stick together in one. They never really got along and would have resented each other more. You just do whats best for you and the kids, and thats what you're doing. You dont need to feel guilty for that.

I didn't meet my dad till 2012, I was 10 at the time and it was honestly weird. I went over to his house a few times over like 4 years then he just stopped calling and texting about me and me and him haven't talked since. Honestly screw him. I tried to get a hold of him but I guess he doesn't want anything to do with his only son that's alive

The story of my nephew is different, his father died young, so they moved from their house and later had to stay with us, so from his perspective, it is harder than divorce, because he has no two of everything, just one.

It's a good song, but it's a little weird being a song about parents getting divorced, written and sung by people in their 40s as if they're still teenagers.
it's okay, some late 20s actors or actresses still play roles as teen in movies.. if it can be pulled off in acting, more so in music right?
My parents split when I was 9. Now at 31, I have two boys, and expecting my new daughter to be born at the end of july. She filed for divorce...
