Blue Jays are nest thieves where I live. I do have many birds in my yard, they have kept crows and Blue Jay's away. I'd love to attract bats back though since they eat mosquitoes. The Falcons and hawks are eating my bunnies, chipmunks and squirrels.

He reminds me of my botany professor. He's a sweet and funny man in his 80s but is so active! He loves plants so much, takes care of the endemic species of our area...Instead of a garden of houseplants and ornaments, I've now made it so I take care of endemic plant species, made little straws for the native mason bees to nest. It's rewarding
We need more people like him. Imagine if one person that is that old can do that much. Imagine how much we all can do for this world if we change our focus from wars to the positive things like this.
When this humble and kind man starting singing, I lost it. His love for all creatures, great and small makes a difference that all the noise doesn't. It helps the planet, and it helps us remember what a true heart can accomplish.
Try National Bluebird Societt website. They did have specific measurements there once. Even the hole must be a certain size. And to prevent other birds like woodpeckers from making the hole bigger a d take over box I learned to face the whole with a copper sheet square of metal. There should be instructions there to check the babies for blowflies and be careful of snake predators. Good luck.

I can remember meeting him at a park or fair 20-25 years ago, and left with 2 bluebird houses and the knowledge to help the bluebird population. He was a legend back then!

As a kid me and my grandma build a bluebird box and put it in our backyard, after about two years a family of bluebirds moved in. I was so happy
