Before I converted I attended the church services for a year without participating in the sacraments. One day I developed the courage to speak to the priest and he recommended me to read “Introducing the Orthodox Church” by Anthony Coniaris. After, I meet with him for a period of 5 weeks where he educated me on the early church and the basic teachings. After, on March 22, 2020 I was Chrismated in Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in NYC. I didn’t have to get rebaptized because I was baptized as an infant in the Roman Catholic church. I took communion straight after I got Chrismated.
I recently converted to EO from RCC(SSPX) and I am a Catechumen now. I will be Chrismated at Pascha, I hope! Your comments about the exorcism prayers made me laugh. I was worried I was gonna fall down and foam at the mouth but I didn't, thank God. I did cry tears of joy, though.
Thank you Bojan, I am feeling now more than ever drawn to Orthodoxy and want to join! (You may remember my email, I've decided on Orthodoxy over Catholicism) :D
I am an Orthodox catechumen, but I would never question the validity of my baptism. The Priest who did so was as pius and traditional, as close to Orthodoxy as a Roman Priest can be. A catechumen’s original baptism should not be questioned arbitrarily or with an anti western bias. If one has no good reason to doubt the validity of his baptism, she should not seek another, only Chrismation
We have a few Greek Orthodox churches in my area and that is where I want to go I have been watching Mass on live stream from RUclips because the church is closed right now.
I was baptized Protestant at 8 months old and when I converted to Catholicism they took that as good enough. However I really would like to be baptized in the Orthodox Church.
From what I understand, it depends on the particular Orthodox church. Some rebaptize everyone; some only chrismate; some rebaptiize Protestants but not Catholics...
It seems for me surprisingly it's hard to find good information on the step by step process of how to become a nun or monk. I was wondering if you could make a video on it? I am considering becoming a nun. It's not officially decided or set in stone but I'd like to learn more about how to make that possible.
I'm thinking about becoming Greek Orthodox (I was baptized as a Baptist). Because my soon to be wife Is Half Greek and she attends her Orthodox church on occasions. Yeah I'll give It a try lol 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷👍
It may seem like it takes a long time now, but what is a couple of years now vs. the Eternity that awaits you? Also, not every Church's Catechumenism will be 2 years.
Thank Bojan! Anyway right now all Is closed here in Italy, we are waiting for the end of this. There are lines out of supermarkets, all but pharmacies and kiosks Is now closed.
Do you NEED to be baptized in a Orthodox Church to be a orthodox Christian? Cause there are very few Orthodox Church’s in my country in general 😕 and do you need to go to church every Sunday cause I as I said, there are very few churches in my country. Please reply cause I need help👍💕 GOD BLESS
God understands everyone's different situations. I'm 6 hours away from my parish. I've been the past 3 weeks in a row but I usually just try and go once every 3 weeks at least
St. Gregory II tells us that "As to the man who was confirmed a second time by a bishop, such a repetition must be forbidden." The sacrament imprints an indelible character on the soul of a person. Repeating it every time a person joins the Church is heretical if they have already received a valid confirmation/chrismation. It's true that some of the Fathers advise that baptized heretics be received with chrismation, but St. Cyprian of Carthage explains this by saying "But he cannot sanctify the creature of oil, who has neither an altar nor a church; whence also there can be no spiritual anointing among heretics, since it is manifest that the oil cannot be sanctified nor the Eucharist celebrated at all among them." They are only chrismated again because the first was invalid.
Yes, baptism repetitions are invalid. Saint Ignatius of Antioch also says in his Epistle to Smyrnaeans that baptism is valid when one is baptized by a bishop. I don't see why a second time would be necessary. Perhaps Orthodox think we have lost the apostolic succession, the Bishopric. I don't see why they would think that however.
@@st.padrepio3370 Yeah, it would be very weird if the majority of Orthodox viewed Catholic orders as invalid... because they view Anglican orders as valid (at least before woman priests) and don't reordain converts from Anglicanism. I think they probably view Catholic chrismations as valid, but simply disagree that chrismation is a one time thing.
Cuz they are from a different denomination. If you are protestant and are confirmed in say, a lutheran church, then you still have to reconfirm in catholicism. I'm pretty sure confirmation means "i am of the church and im freely of the church", so thats why(?)

I grew up being Seventh Day Adventist, my grandmother is happy for me coming back to Christianity. She didn't expect me to find Orthodoxy however.
I grew up Adventist too, bro. But tomorrow I will be catechuman, Glory to God
My family and I were just received as catechumens. So thankful to have found the Church.

Do gatherings that involve more than 100 people include church services in Serbia?
It wasn't specified, I'd assume they would.
I am also certain that it won't be enforced, especially in churches.
What about just trusting in Christ and he makes you a new creature like it says in the Bible most of the new books in the Gospels
