Just found this tutorial. My friend gave me her old Sizzix Big Kick machine so this tutorial is great for a newbie. I have the hinged platform. Thank you for the tutorial. Hope I can do a little card making tomorrow and see how I do. Thanks once again.
Very interesting, Jessica! Will this also work for the Stampin Up die cutting machine? As far as I understood, the plates are interchangeable, so both machines cannot be too different
Yes, it should be similar sandwiches for the new Stampin' Up! machine but I'll definitely let you know when I get one and can actually play with it. Thanks for asking!
How can I use folded card stock to emboss just the front or just the inside? Can the scored card stock be folded around the plates to get it out of the way and to make it smaller to fit through my Big Shot? If so, which plates should it go around?
Sally, I don't think you want to fold your card stock around your plates as that will add extra creases. Usually I will open my card up so it's flat and then put the folder across where I want to emboss and run my card stock through that way. Does that make sense? Sometimes you may have to adjust the way that you cut your card stock for your card base. For instance, it may need to be 4-1/4" x 11" to fit through the way you want it to instead of 8-1/2" x 11"
@@inkitupwithjessica I was trying to use already scored cards but if they should not be folded around a plate on the Sizzix I will have to use flat card stock cut to fit the width of the Big Shot. Thanks so much for answering.
I don't have any spellbinders 3-D emboss folders but have you tried it with the same sandwich that I used here for the Stampin' Up! 3-D folders? Base Plate - Folder - Specialty Plate. If your sandwich is too thick to go through your machine that way, try Base Plate - Folder - Clear Plate and if that's too thin to emboss your paper, try adding a few extra sheets of card stock on top of your sandwich until you get the embossed depth you like. Hope that helps!
I just bought one of the Stampin' Up embossing folders without the Sizzix logo on it. When I try to use the sandwich you use I cannot run it through the machine. If I use the platform , the folder with the paper inside and one cutting plate, I can't even get it to go through the machine. I don't understand why. There is no way I can run it through my Big Shot with a cutting plate at all. If I use the platform, the embossing folder and then a bunch of cardstock I can, but that doesn't seem right to me. So weird. First, and probably the last Stampin' Up folder I will buy probably. 😢
@@inkitupwithjessica Thanks for getting back to me. I had got the Stampin' Up Seashells 3D embossing folder. I was unable to use the platform like you showed in the video. I had to use the big platform with the tabs to make it work. I can get it to work through the machine using that platform on tab 1, the folder w/paper, a cutting plate and then 4 pieces of cardstock. I just prefer to use the platform like you showed instead of that big bulky one. It's so strange that I can't use mine.
@@myameegirl6063 It sounds like you are missing a Specialty Plate: bit.ly/2Lvk7aI It's like the blue plate shown in this video. For a 3D folder like the Seashells, you would use the platform - folder - then the Specialty Plate.
The blue Embossing Plate was only available from Stampin' Up! for a short time. They have a new Specialty Plate coming out later this year that should work the same way. Thanks for asking!
Thank you! So glad I found this video. You are clear and right to the point. Very nice of you to provide the download, too!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!

You are so welcome! Enjoy your new-to-you machine!
Thank you! I’m still relatively new to the Big Shot so I was wondering whether I need an embossing plate for embossing! Subscribed!

You're welcome Julie! 😊
I recently purchased a Big Shot Foldaway. Are there letter folders so that I can emboss an initial onto a card? Thank you
Oh that's a great question! I'm not aware of any letter folders available but they sure would be handy.

can you demo the spellbinders 3-D emboss folder in a big shot/kick? 6.1.24

What weight paper do you use?
I have no idea! 😂 I use all Stampin' Up! card stock and I'm not sure what the weight of it is.

Which embossing folder did you get? I'm happy to help you figure it out!

Is the embossing plate new?

Why doesn’t this like the one in the book?
Hi Dona, I'm not sure what book you are referring to.
The guide never downloaded for me 😪
So sorry about that Dawn! Can you reply to my email or contact me here: www.inkitupwithjessica.com/contact/ and I'll be happy to resend it.
It’s ok. It was actually in my email 🤦🏽♀️. I thought it was in my downloads folder in my phone. Thank you so much!!
