You can't just leave out the mokka and call it mokkapalat, Dave! Coffee is essential to the taste. This is just a frosted chocolate cake 😁 There is so little caffeine in the finished product that it doesn't really matter if you give it to a kid. Personally I'd be more worried about all the sugar. Almost all Finnish kids grew up eating mokkapalat with coffee and we turned out just fine 🤎
Right, that's not mokkapalat. Coffee flavor is essential for that recipe. I was drinking coffee as soon as i started speaking properly, I wanted me some "maitokaavia" with some sugar in it 🙂
It's basically only like two tablespoons of coffee in the frosting anyway :D And I've never heard of a version where the batter is made with coffee, only milk and juice (though I've always used milk).
I would love if you'd add a segment to the end where Cat could translate the whole recipe for you and you'd go through it so we can see your reactions to where you went wrong (and you'd learn the correct way in the process😁)
Instructions: "Vältä sekoittamasta liikaa." (Try to avoid mixing too much) Dave: Proceeds to powerfully mix by hand and with the machine I'm dying!! 😂😂😂
Yeahhhh that's not mokkapalat anymore :D mokka=mocha implies that it has coffee in it. Also, the fact that it was made in a round cake tin, and it is that thick cake with thick icing, makes it into a chocolate cake in my opinion!
That mistake you made with the sieve. You were supposed to put that dry flour mix through the sieve into the original sugar/egg/butter mix while mixing, so it wouldn't make clumps. And simultaneously taking turns with adding the dry mix and also adding the milk. Not just combining dry stuff and milk together.
Also when he added the dry stuff in the milk and tried to mix it, he made it super lumpy. Resulting to him needing to use the mixer. When the recipe specifically said to avoid mixing it too much.. 😂
Yay, my favourite series! ☺️ It looked really tasty, and I mean, Leo's review says it all, haha! Love when you speak Finnish, it makes me happy to hear. You are getting better and better and even if you have a little bit of "an accent", it's only adorable. Great job!
I'm really impressed by how well you did and how well you understand Finnish. To your question about viewers rolling their eyes: I was definitely proud of you and excited that you were doing so well!
I've been noticing this over the years that I've been watching your videos, but never remembered to say it, so here it is - I really like the edits when you keep the visual part finish, but the next part of the commentary already rolls in. Yes, my explaining sucks, but I guess you know what I mean 😆 I dunno, it's just a really cool way to edit 👍🏻 And Cadin Keittiö is just such an amazing series.
To be fair the shifting milk and coffee made no sense at all. Idk what recipe it is or if Cat just pulled off a prank on you 😂 that looks great, I think that was smart to put it in the cake tin and frost it coffee-free - however I would use just water, because the frosting may go bad more easy with milk. Coffee is in the end water based, it is just for taste (2 tablespoons) with the dusted sugar. I was more proud, especially with these weird instructions 😂
“I have decided not to follow the recipe” has never led to any disasters in my kitchen. 😂 Also, I appreciate you storing the baking tray in the oven! I always do that and it used to drive my partner insane. (He always popped the oven on without checking if it was empty 🤓 then he’d screech at me that the baking tray drawer is below the oven and I should use it. Nah! 😂)
Dave. Dave. Dave. Dave. Wtf? You can't f mokkapalat up like this 🤦🏻. Leaving the damn MOCCA out of mokkapalat. COME ON. You made chocolate cake. You made glazed brownies. You didn't make mokkapalat. 1,5/5

I've seen on one of those coming shows that adding dry/powder etc to the wet helps prevent clumps. Also, if you Scrunch up the baking paper first then when you try to put it into a shaped tray etc then it will fit a lot easier without it trying to spring out. 👍
It would help if you knew the basics of baking so you could even take a guess what the instructions are calling :D Would be cool if you make a second episode with Cad and do it "right". I think you would get some good laughs on the way!

how have I missed this well I guess better late than never (also you made me want mokkapala...) Okay how did you struggle with most things I thought you would ace and ace most things I thought you would struggle? end product looks nice so I guess job well done... I think 3/5 is fair
