Theatre is important because it is the only art form that values human connections. The actors feed off the audience, and the audience directly feels everything the actors put into their performance. There is no screen that divides the two, they are completely in sync. A piece of theatre is always growing and changing because the actors grow and change with every performance. Nothing is stagnant. I always have loved theatre because I think it is so attuned to the world surrounding it; and that goes beyond the immediate audience. There is just this connection that is so alive in live theatre that cannot be compared to anything else.

Theatre is so much more important than movies and Netflix because there is so much more authenticity behind the acting- you get the feeling that the actor is saying his or her lines to you, not just to a camera. It really puts into perspective how talented people on Broadway are, because if there is a costume flaw or someone forgets their lines they deal with it and cover it up, instead of just doing another take. It truly is a magical experience to see people performing directly in front of you, and even get the chance to meet them after the show, and for me at least, seeing shows live tells me that it is possible for me to get there someday, and that is why I love to see shows live.

While it is true that television and movies can reach millions of people very quickly theatre is one of the few artforms where you can look every each and every viewer in the eye and develop a connection. You create a unique memory that moves the audience and also moves you as an artist. That moment can never be duplicated and gives you a feeling that you will never forget. That is why theatre is important.

As I enter a theatre, excitement builds up in me that I have never felt before. Theatre provokes its own individual form emotions that cannot be felt from any other narrative. There is truth and beauty in the way you see the actors and they can see you, feel your mood, and play with your sentiment to make it a truly unique experience just for you. That is why theater is so important.

Theatre is a shared experience between the audience, the actors, the crew, and everyone else present. 8 times a week on Broadway and off-Broadway and all around the world, hundreds of people enter into one building and build a world together, experiencing every emotion, every mistake, every laugh or tear or scream as one community of people in their own universe, separate from the outside world, but still connected to the feeling of not being alone. That is why theatre is important and always will be.

There's so much passion and inspiration in the theatre. You can just tell that the people love what there, doing, and it a way to tell a story in a kinda different aspect than in a movie. Because anything can happen and there's something in knowing that what your watching is almost real. I can't seem to explain it. I'm 14 and seen so many shows already and my goal is to see as many as I can. Because there's a kind of inspiration and confidence I get when i walk out of seeing a show, and even the urge to want to be up there telling beautiful and magnificent storys along side these actors. I also love that I can connect the songs with my life and sing them with passion and almost feeling how that character would feel. It's just absolutely breathtaking.

I'm quite a few years late, but here's my little lyric-theatre-student two cents to anyone who cares to read them: what this world needs more than anything is empathy, and few things plant that seed more acutely than watching someone's story play out right in front of you. Live storytelling has been one of the cornerstones of humanity since the beginning, as cheesy as it may sound; its power has been keenly felt in my life, and I want to spend that life making it mean just as much for others. And sometimes, you just need to be swept away into a lush and wickedly smart comedy such as this one. Plus, I'm always a sucker for a contemporary musical with an operetta score.

Theatre is important because there really is no experience like it. I love getting dressed up, sitting in the red velvet seats, and being transported into a story. Sure, a great movie actor can express through the screen, but a live performance with forgotten lines and an orchestra will always be magical. I am so thankful for actors and crew that work hard 8 times a week to help create memories for the audience.

Theater is important because it's a beautiful way to tell a story. Shows like this are located in such an intimate setting that can't be recreated in a move theater or anywhere else. It's magic. Also, because it's fun no matter what age you are.

Theater is important, because it shows pure talent. There is nothing edited or enhanced, it is all straight from the heart ,and the best part is you never know what might happen. pigs might fly! #fullmonty

Theatre is a doorway into other worlds and other lives. It is not about the product as much as it is about the process artist share together to tell a story. The best part about it, is that it is live, and no performance is ever the same twice. It's this exchange of humanity and energy between actors and audience members where connections are made, and moments are shared that are truly sublime and can never be recreated as they exist only in that moment. Theatre is the only place where everyone - from performer, to crew, to audience member - has agreed to share this hour or two, where it is a communal give and take. And hopefully, it brings everyone to a greater understanding of empathy and humanity.

Theatre, especially a show of GGLAM's calibre allows the audience to be completely absorbed in something for 2 or 3 hours. For those few hours, at least for me, I'm not worrying about my next hospital trip and it also gives me a glimpse into what an amazing job you people have. I get a taste of what my family used to do on Broadway. Thanks for putting this up.

Being in a theater whether its for a production I'm in or to see one gives me a second sense of home. Im with family, whether I've rehearsed with them or they're complete strangers. It's why I love the business so much and why I hope to be part of it for a long time to come!

Many of the comments here say theatre is the best art form, but I don't think there is any art form that is best. I think every art form is important and unique and we should celebrate them all. :)

Theatre is important to me because its a way to express yourself with more than just acting. And going to see shows is important and exciting to me because when a show is really well done you feel as though you're there with the actors and for those 2 hours you lost in the world of whatever show you're at

why is theater important? The energy that you get between the performers, the orchestra and the audience! You can't get that in any other medium. AND I have never left my living room after binge watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix to find Bryce Pinkham outside my front door - BUT I can leave the theater stand by the stage door and say hey to one of the nicest guys on Broadway! (and no that's not to get mentioned in the blog but....) :-)

In All honesty theater is a beautiful and wonderful place that is more wide range and meaningful to ones emotions for me being in a Broadway theater appeals to my more realistic side because everything is happening before my eyes proving that a Broadway theater creates that aspect of seeing things done in movies done on stage in real time by really hard working and talented individuals

In my opinion, theatre brings people together. Anyone, no matter who they are, how much money they have, or how they look, can participate in some form of theatre, whether it be Broadway, community, or even high school. You can't really say the same for other acting mediums. Also, there's something to be said for seeing these amazing actors onstage, where practically anything could and sometimes does go wrong. I personally love the sense of community and family brought on by theatre.

Theatre is the most fluid form of story-telling because no two shows are the same. Plays and musicals are alive and change each show whereas if you watch a movie or read a book you will be hearing the same exact story if you return to it. Theatre contains the flaws that make us human. We connect to actual people telling us the story in real time instead of listening to a recording. It also contains every other art form to make it more pleasing to the eye or ear.
That's why I would rather go to a show instead of a movie theater.

Theater has a way of telling a story that can not be achieved any other way(even better if it's a musical). It does not matter if it is a tv show, movie, or theater when you strip it all down it is nothing more then just telling a story. The difference is on a tv show and/or movie set everything is rehearsed filmed and then everyone moves on. On stage you see everyone yourself not through a screen after it has been edited. When I have gone to see a show I have always had to be at there very top where it's hard to see but yet even there I can feel all these emotions that can only be felt by watching live theater. To answer your question you should keep doing what your doing because this is an art form that can not be replaced. P.S. i would like to point out you mentioned netflix probably because tv and movies have been taken over by netflix, the same can not be said about theater it is one of a kind

Entertainment started with someone getting up in front of people and performing. This was before movies/tv. Theatre is a form of entertainment that brings a person back to the start of it all. Sitting in an audience or performing on stage allows people to experience a story live, and it's never the same story twice. I was once told that if you perform exactly the same way every performance of a show, then you're not growing as an actor. I feel like this goes for life too. If you do the same things everyday, how can you grow as a person? Theatre is important because it teaches you how to be abetter person whether you actually realize it or not.
